That says alot for the Vita version. I sometimes forget which games I played in my season on which system. They really run together well.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Okay... maybe that could explain it then. Probably it was removed for performance reasons? Like too much stuff on screen and we see frame rate drops... even right now.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
Ok, just did the system update. Quick question:
All of a sudden, my screen is fading black extremely quickly. I let the CPU play without pressing any buttons, and after a few minutes, everything fades very dark as if it's about to fall asleep.
It used to do this about 30 sec - 1 minute before going into sleep mode. That was understandable. But now it's fading black, seemingly much sooner, and STAYING THAT WAY until I reach the 10 minute mark.
What the hell? How do I disable this? I can't find it anywhere.Comment

You can change overall brightness though... It never goes dark enough to the point I cannot really see anything, so I don't really care personally.Comment

But doesn't it seem to be fading quicker? I'll time it and report back tomorrow if I can find a damn stop watch. Ugh...
I hope they patch this. I want to just set the damn thing down and watch my games. Do I always have to freaking manhandle this thing? LOL! The screen smudges just by looking at it funny.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
One thing I did to combat this was just leave my analog stick in a slightly tilted position (there are several ways, but I hung the Move strap around it). I'm not blind to the long term damage that could cause though, which is why I only did it when I couldn't actually watch the games.
You could probably set something on a button and get the same effect too (probably with less damage risk). As long as anything is pressed and held I don't think it'll enter sleep mode. Maybe even a rubber band around the shoulder buttons or something (that wouldn't have to cross the screen, and those buttons seem pretty resillient).Comment

And you can adjust the brightness setting by holding the PS button for a couple seconds, any time.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
I read that Vita doesn't allow us to keep it awake forever even when plugged to protect the screen from burning (like old CRT monitors used to do).
I have an accessory idea for Vita... It's a little finger shaped clip (powered via USB) that you can put on Vita, and every few minutes or so it moves and touches the screen or certain button to keep Vita awake.
Now I need to find a manufacturer who can do this.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
It's just annoying. Can I see? Yes. But I get this urge to hit a button at that point (OCD anyone? LOL).
I didn't mind even in the slightest when it kicked in 30 sec - 1 minute before going to sleep. I understood that. Kind of like a warning signal to touch something.
But to do it, seemingly after a minute and a half...eight and a half minutes before going to sleep is obnoxious. I think it's actually a glitch and not an intentional move from Sony.
Anyway, rant over. Thanks Bcruise for the tidbits. I may just step on it permanently to see if that keeps it on.
Okay, okay. Rant NOW officially over.
Nomo, thanks for the prompt responses too.Comment

So from that stand point, we should be able to adjust the time till the screen darkens. I even like to see an option for Vita not to go into sleep at all... (then I can get an extra game in when *I* sleep.... haha, OCD...)
But really if the only issue is the screen burning, then if the images are constantly changing like in this game, then it's effectively a screensaver so it only makes sense to allow that option.
Sony just needs to really warn users (who didn't use computers in 90s) of the implication of letting it stand with a static screen for a very long time.Comment

Remember that episode of The Simpsons where Homer wore that moo-moo and got that typing job and used that bowing bird with the top-hat to do his work for him???
