Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Started my player about a month ago play it when I have time. Started as a starter for the Nats as a draftee. Was playing really well for the Harrrisuburg Senators AA. But before the playoffs started was traded to the Astros organization. They were also in the playoffs and we won the championship for AA. Got offered a 1.5 million dollar deal for a year and took it to be the AAA ace. Started Spring training and stayed with the Astros as a bullpen guy. In one month became a starter and soon afterwards the ace and the best player in the team. At 19 had a 1.98 era 15-2 record. Won the ROY and CY young. Then signed a 33 million dollar deal for 3 years highly regret it as Astros are not compettive at all. Second year won MVP and Cy young. but team is not winning much. I want to get traded so bad but i think i will have to play out my contract and prolly leave as a super two. dont know what i have to do to qualify as that I really want to leave the Astros and win championships.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Started my RTTS a few weeks ago. Got drafted by the Cubs, and within my first couple of starts, I began to notice that the defence behind me in AA was absolutely terrible. Alot of seeing-eye singles getting through. Halfway through my first year, I got promoted to AAA, where I started out of the bullpen (which was nice, allowed me to adjust to the competition level). A week later I was moved into the rotation, and began lighting it up. Went the rest of my first year without giving up a home run. Towards the end of the first year, the Cubs picked up my contract, adding me to the 40 man (unfortunately, I forgot to save it!!). At the beginning of my second year, I started off the season 2-1, 1.98 era (team never scored any runs for me, now I know how Johan feels with the Mets). Contract got purchased and promoted to the bigs as a reliever at the beginning of May, and got torched. Wasn't able to earn training points, so I kept getting warnings about not meeting advancement goals. At the end of one game after I gave up the game winning HR, the video showed my guy and the manager arguing with each other. I requested a trade and went to the Tigers for their closer. Made one appearance in the pros, then got demoted back to AAA.

I've started 12 RTTS all as a SP and with the Marlins, and every time I get (bleeping) traded.. It's so annoying having to start over.. I only wanna play for the Marlins, and no matter how good or bad my player is, I still got traded.. Ugh

This, and it's far and away the most stupid and annoying thing about this game. I love The Show but the fact that, no matter how well you're performing, you will get traded. Like in real life, no matter what, all 30 clubs perform multiple trades every season, involving the majority of their A and B prospects.

I thought I had avoided it because in other attempted RTTS I would get traded midway through my first season in the minors. Now, though, I get called up towards the end of April in 2013 to the Pirates. I specifically picked the Pirates for a reason. I'm an A prospect, starting in LF, batting .325 with 19 HR and 75 RBI. I'm nearing the end of July and, no matter how many times I exit out, reload, and sim through the end of July (past the trade deadline) I get traded sometime between the 27th and 31st. Oh, and did I mention the team is also 60-39?

On top of that they've traded about every A prospect in the organization. We got Jon Schoop from the Orioles in a deal in 2012 (played together in AA and AAA) and he was the opening day starting SS. Apparently, midway through May management felt it was best to trade him and another A prospect (whose name I can't remember right now) for a relief pitcher and and Willie Harris. Whoo! Then a few weeks later we trade Gerrit Cole. Makes perfect sense. And it gets even worse. Instead of being satisfied with trading for A catching prospect Devin Mesoraco like they did back in May, they felt the need to trade Pedro Alvarez to the Braves for Christian Bethancourt. Never mind they already have Mesoraco starting, and Jose Morales and Tony Sanchez on the bench. What team doesn't need four catchers and zero 3Bmen?

I hate RTTS simply because the trade logic is beyond broken and, no matter what, there's no possible way to avoid being traded. So, if you've dreamed of playing SS for your favorite team, or being the staff ace for them, too bad; if you pick them instead of going into the draft YOU'RE GOING TO BE TRADED!!!!

Dang that sucks man. Im trying to get traded from Houston becuase they are doing the same. Our team already sucks but then they go ahead and trade the few good stars we have for **** players. Like bougesivic and jd martinez. They let go of lawrie and im under contract for 2 more years. I want to win championships but the team is trading their whole team for nothing.

I wonder which one is more annoying, MLB RTTS having your team trade away all the good players. Or NBA 2K My Player where your teams good players seem to suck when you're on the floor.

Right, and it's not like we're the only ones trading all of our A prospects. I mean we did somehow get Jon Schoop, Archie Bradley, and Mesoraco. Of course we've now traded two of those three and Gerrit Cole and another A prospect originally in the Pirates system. I can kind of understand trading me (A prospect putting up .320, 18 HR, 75 HR as a rookie) and Archie Bradley for Michael Morse who's the leading MVP candidate with something like 28 HR, 85 RBI, and a .325ish batting average, kind of, but not really. But trading Pedro Feliz (only 3B on 25 man roster and the bench is two catchers and two OFers) who has A potential to the Braves for B catching prospect Christian Bethancourt makes less than zero sense. As does trading Jon Schoop for a relief pitcher and Willie Harris.

I mean what in the world are they going to do in 5-7 years after trading off every A prospect that comes through the organization?

That's a really good question. I don't have an answer but both make their "My Player" modes borderline unplayable. As far as game-play goes, I think My Player is more unplayable for the very reason you mentioned. I was a PG for the Lakers and midway through my rookie year I was having to attempt to carry Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum on my back because they were averaging 50-55 ppg between the three of them. Kobe in particular kept putting up 15-20 point games and, on occasion, he'd go on 3-4 game stretches of scoring less than 15.

The actual game-play in RTTS mode is still really fun and realistic. But knowing that you can't pick a team that you specifically want to play for because you're going to eventually be traded no matter how well you perform, and also knowing the trade logic is beyond flawed still makes it a very aggravating mode. At least in franchise mode you can do 30 team control and accept and veto every trade.

This literally made me quit playing RTTS now. I've made about 3-4 different players with different positions, in hopes of being called up to the Tigers. Even when the position was something deemed "thin," I would get traded within a week of the deadline. Even if I played stellar, it apparently just increased my trade value because they sure weren't keeping me in Detroit. I even paid the 5 bucks to see if 6000pts would help me increase fast enough to get to MLB, but no avail.

Yeah, the first player I created was a SS for the Braves. They're my favorite team and SS is their thinnest position even though they do have Andrelton Simmons in the minors and Tyler Pastornicky in the majors. I just felt it might be easiest to overtake them than anyone else since they're relatively young and strong at every other position. I didn't even make it to the trade deadline of 2012 before getting traded in that one.

I created another one just to sim up to the trade deadline so I could see if there was any way to just keep simming until they didn't trade you. I simmed up until July 20th or so, save it, and keep simming through the end of July; I'd still get traded 90% of the time but there was at least a chance it wouldn't happen, so I started this RTTS player. Created a LF in the Pirates organization, a position deemed "thin" by the game. Got through the entire 2012 season without getting traded so I thought I might be in the clear. Obviously I wasn't.

SCEA definitely has to fix this. I don't know how they'd do it, though, because trades still need to be part of the game mode, but the trade logic is badly flawed. It makes RTTS, where you have zero control over trades, borderline unplayable.

As expected my new team the Durham Bulls have fallen out of first place about 15 games after I got into town. I hate how big their ball park is, it's where all my hits go to die. I hope to get called up soon, I've had enough of this lol.

I wish I had known this before last night. It was July 22nd the first time I got traded after a game. I exited my RTTS, reloaded it, and simmed ahead a few days to the 25th or 26th before getting traded again. I kept doing the same thing (quitting, reloading, and simming) for probably 30 minutes and thought there was nothing I could, and it was just going to happen, but I finally got to August 1st without being traded.
