Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

My SS was drafted by the rangers as a 19 year old. I played 2 weeks with the fridco roughriders and was called up to the round rock express.

I played the rest of 2012 with the AAA rangers and finished the season with a .352 Avg, 8hr and 40 rbi's. In 2013, I played AAA until August 10th where I was traded to the twins and moved up to the MLB team right away. At that point in the season, I was hitting .378 with 25hr And 99 rbi's.
In my MLB debut, I went 2-4 with a homer off Jordan walden, and apparently that was enough to get te starting job because I found myself as the starting SS after that game.
Finished the season .390, 15hr and 30rbis. Missed the playoffs with a 76-86 record.
I'm currently in august 2014, hitting a major league best .406 with 48 hr and 109 rbi's. We lead the central by 10.5 games over CWS with a 71-39 record.

I play on veteran difficulty with default sliders. I don't wanna hit .500 with 100 homers, but I don't wanna be just a great player who hits .330 and 35 bombs. I'm more of a high .300's, 60-80 homer guy.

Looks like we're gonna be the best team in the MLB record wise, so as it stands, we're set to take on the red sox in the ALDS.
I'm having fun with the twins, but will definitely sign elsewhere after the 2019 season, my first eligible year of free agency.

Boog Tuiasosopo's second season as a professional has come to a close. After performing well in the first half of the season, Boog was traded to the Astros along with Miles Miolas (RP)() for Garret Mock (RP). Boog was the Closer for the Astros AAA team the rest of the year despite being the 5th best closer out of 6 on the team. The Redhawks missed the playoffs and finished 79-65, 4 games back of the Round Rock Express.

AAA End of 2nd Season Attributes:
      Stamina: 29
      Clutch: 58
      H/9: 60
      HR/9: 48

      Durability: 48
      Arm Strength: 53
      Arm Accuracy: 53
      Fielding: 22
      Reaction: 22

      Contract: $100,000 1 year

      Training
      Knockout Training: Level 3
      Pitch Location Training: Level 2
      Pitch type training: Level 3
      Sim game training: Level 4

      Stats:
      0-2
      2.48 ERA
      41 Saves, 6 BS
      40.0 IP
      44 Hits, 16 Runs, 11 ER, 1 HR, 8BB, 24 K, 1.30 WHIP

This year was a good year for me. Got a lot more control in my pitches and I get a lot more swing and misses then I used to. The only thing I had trouble with this year is my teams fielding SUCKED! A ball hit in their area, they feel like they need to dive after it to get it which led to a lot of leadoff triples that should of been singles. After going from the worst team in the majors last season, I was traded to the worst team in the majors this season. The Astros finished the year 48-114. The teams closer Francisco Cordero only got 14 saves all year despite pitching 55 innings.

      Notes:
AL MVP: Adrian Beltre NL MVP: Clayton Kershaw
AL Cy Young: Jason Vargas NL Cy Young: Clayton Kershaw

AL ROY: Kevin Hyde (18yo, .253 avg, 31HR NL ROY: Matt Harvey (Giants)
Reds beat the White Sox in the World Series 4-1

      Unusual Retired Players:
None this year.. Dickey retired, Ichiro retired, Berkman retired, Vogelsong and Zito retired, Rolen retired, AJ Burnett, Vernon Wells and Torii Hunter retired, and Francisco Coredero (maybe I'll be the MLB teams closer?) retired all due to age.

December 2nd I got an offer from the Astros, 1 year $483,000 to be the MLB closer, and I countered for 1 year $525,000 and they accepted.

      Goals for 2013:

he's been pretty good so far. he had a 7 inning outing in his last start, only gave up a home run and 3 hits with 4 k's but still got the loss. i'm playing against the brewers right now. i threw a knuckleball and nyjer morgan got caught stealing 3rd. as a cardinals fan i had a great laugh at this and it was awesome.

I'm in my 3rd year with my SS and was leading the league in HRs and RBIs post All Star break only to be sent down because I didn't take enough base on balls two advancement periods in a row. It's amazing to hear M-V-P! being chanted and shown on the board one week and be in the minors the next. Now I'm in a slump which is just killing me...

Even with good contact everything I hit recently has been a foul, popup or a grounder... feels like an eternity since Ive had two hits in a game.

I never thought I would see this but on my new RTTS player something incredible just happened. He's a CF, drafted by the Yankees, that specializes hitting for solid contact, great fielding, and speed, your prototype top of the order player. Enough about him, heading into a game against the Blue Jays at home, whom were a game behind at this point, CC Sabathia started for us and he had the game of his life. The offense stalled so CC put on a show an threw 10 NO-HIT INNINGS. It was incredible, 12 K's and only 2 walks. I never thought I would see it in RTTS. The game was capped after we finally got some offense going in the 10th and Derek Jeter brought home the winning run and we won 1-0. The best pitching performance that I've ever seen on a video game, especially by the CPU.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Started a RTTS for the first time ever last week, since my last name isn't in the game and I prefer having names said I decided to make one as a hard throwing closer Kenny Powers.

Was drafted by the Indians and after getting off to a bit of a rocky start got things rolling, was doing really well and was dealt to the Pirates for Erik Bedard. KP was assigned to their AA affiliate and finished the year strong earning a promotion to AAA to start year 2.

After getting off to a putrid start in AAA and expecting a demotion something finally clicked and KP got locked in, made the Futures game and AAA all star games and then a week after the all star game the Pirates purchased his contract and he made his debut against the Astros entering the game in the 6th and throwing 2 scoreless innings, retiring all 6 batters faced with 2 Ks.

Looking forward to seeing how things progress and anticipating I'll get hammered when I face a better team since my ratings still have a long ways to go.

Just been traded again. Me, Xander Bogaerts and Pedro Ciriaco went to the Cardinals for Rafael Furcal.

Won't be long before I'm considered a minor league journeyman. Apparently batting .360 wasnt enough for Boston to keep me around. If it wasn't bad enough being in an organisation I don't want to be in, Xander and Pedro have both been put in the major leagues. Me? AAA bench. :

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Made a left fielder named Trey Griffey (downloaded Junior from the vault and copied over his face). I have plans to make him a slugger, but I wanted to start out with high contact and build the power as I go along so I pushed his power/contact slider 100% towards contact.

                    Drafted by the Angels.

Year 1: Spent 90% of the year in Double A with the Arkansas Travelers. Spent the first advancement period as a backup, as well as another advancement period in the middle of the season when I got benched for only passing 2/4 goals. Because of those 2 periods, plus the fact they give you a day off way too often, I only played 73 games.

Double A stats: 73 games played, 331 ABs, 101 hits, .305avg/2hr/35rbi. 37 runs scored. 22 doubles, 7 triples. .432 SLG%. .737 OPS. Not bad. Would have loved to see what kind of line I might have produced with a full year.

So with about a month left in the season, I passed 3/4 goals and got an e-mail that I had been promoted to AAA with the Salt Lake City Bees. Spent a month as a backup, then after the offseason was informed I would be the starting left fielder in year 2.

So I'm a few weeks into year 2, started out really struggling to hit the ball. I think through the first 10 games I was batting .125 But then I put a little 5 game hit streak together and got my average up above the Mendoza line. I have 2 weeks to get it up over .260 or I'll probably get benched. I'm not going back to the bench! I want to play a full season for once haha. Hopefully my bat heats up. I want to play a full year as a starter, NO BENCHINGS, to try and get as many training points as possible so hopefully I'll be ready for a call-up to the Show in year 3.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Boog's third season is now finished. He played for the Astros all year () and remained in the closers role all year. The Astros didnt make the playoffs going 69-93 being the 3rd worse team in the league, behind the mariners and the orioles. Boog was upset with the teams performance all year, requesting for a trade every chance he got. The astros told him he wasnt going anywhere because he was too valuable to their future.

                      MLB First Season (Astros) Attributes:
                      Stamina: 21
                      Clutch: 66
                      H/9: 65

                      Durability: 45
                      Arm Strength: 54
                      Arm Accuracy: 58
                      Fielding: 24
                      Reaction: 24

                      Contract: $525,000 1 year

                      Knockout Training: Level 4
                      Pitch Location Training: Level 2
                      Pitch type training: Level 4
                      Sim game training: Level 4

                      Stats:
                      2-1
                      3.15 ERA
                      42 Saves, 4 BS
                      45.2 IP
                      40 Hits, 18 Runs, 16 ER, 4 HR, 19 BB, 25 K, 1.29 WHIP

Well this year was ok.. I didn't blow many saves but my ERA was pretty high for my liking. A lot of balls were crushed too. I really need to up my H/9 and get a decent 2nd pitch. My 2SFB is the only one I can throw with confidence for strikes. I really want to get traded to a contender so I can get more save chances, but my attributes still aren't very good.

November 6th I got an offer from the Astros, 1 year $526,000 to be the MLB closer, but I eventually signed for 1 year $540,000.

The fastest you can get up to the big leagues is probably just before the All-Star break, I managed that once. On average you're probably going to stay in AA until around the All-Star break and you might break into the major leagues at the tail end of the season.

Has anyone else gotten far into their career (10 years+)? I'm noticing the league is super old now. The game just doesn't generate enough talent and almost every team is all 30+ year olds. Pitching is lagging behind hitting and sub-4 ERAs are getting rare.

I'm a starting pitcher for the Athletics, just won Cy Young in my 3rd year, and we won the World Series, but now they keep trading me in the off season, even if i sign their contract offer and choose not to go to arbitration they trade me.

Just wondering if anyone knows why?

Alright guys, I solved my problem.

Josh Johnson was the pitcher who completely wrecked my mode. I start off every year hitting the cover off the ball until I face him on the Rangers. It seems is hyperspeed delivery and 110 mph causes a domino effect that consequently breaks the game.

I started the next season hitting .140 points higher (.420) through about 100 games with 65 homeruns until I finally faced Johnson. Now I've got one double in the last 9 games with 0 homeruns and everybody's delivery is broken.

It's great to have the problem finally diagnosed and if SCEA makes a commitment to improving the franchise mode I'll probably buy next year's edition.
