just like real life, you don't become a free agent until you've played 6 seasons in the majors. contrary to what you think, it is 100% realistic. this is the most brought up topic in this thread i believe lol

just started a new closer because i'm bored. i never see lefty closers (besides chapman) so i decided to make a lefty. pretty entertaining to say the least, he got drafted by the mets. will be interesting to see how his career plays out.

I bit the bullet and paid 5 bucks for extra 6.000 RTTS points, interesting to see how my new (6.000 performance enhanced) player will do...

Why does Verlander always suck in RTTS?

Am i the only one who can't find a stance to stick to?

Just one observation, and I think this is roster-dependent since I'm using the OSFM rosters, but man. When you start off, most of the good set-up men and closers are old so when they retire, only a couple of teams have a decent bullpen. They might have a good closer, but in the end most of the relievers are terrible.

Anyways, just finished the first month and it seems like I'm getting the Barry Bonds-treatment now from divisional opponents, my walk rate is up this season dramatically despite the caliber of players hitting behind me.

I have encountered one bug that I can't seem to reproduce consistently yet, but sometimes when I'm at the plate and there's a runner at first, sometimes if the runner at first takes a additional lead while the pitcher is winding up, the ball just skips back past the catcher and the game doesn't move on.

Anyways, I've somehow managed to take the single-season stolen base record and have come away with two AS appearances, two MVP awards, and such in just four seasons, but that gold glove is ever-elusive. The challenges of being a three-tool player.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

I have been stuck in a terrible terrible slump with my SS for the Indians.

My first two years in the minors I hit 320+ basically just slapping the ball around the park and letting my speed do the work. However I got the call up to the majors last year due to a injury that put Placido out for the year. In a 2 month stint off the bench I hit .255 1HR, and 14 RBI.

Now a full time starter at short for Cleveland (Adsrubal moved to DH) I have hit a major wall. Through May I am batting .171 with no HR and 5 RBI. I lead the team in steals with 11 but thats about the only positive thing. I am patient at the plate, swinging at good pitches but nothing flies my way, even my best hits are run down by mediocre outfielders on diving plays. My contact is in the high 70's so I know that's not the problem.

Any tips for someone in a slump?

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

I'm in my 4th MLB season. 1st 3 with the Indians, who totally sucked, but I still won back-to-back MVP's. I kept asking for a trade and finally was sent to the Phils in the off-season. Started great (both individaully and team). I like to steal lots of bases and for some reason just couldn't get in safely and was thrown out like 10x in a row (FYI, I stole 42, 56 and 78 bases 1st 3 seasons with Cle, so I know how to steal). It just seems like something changed (a theme I'm about to go into a bit here). My SPD is 99 and my base running stats are in the mid 90's as well.

In early June, got a warning from the coach not to steal any more on my own, so I stopped. Then a couple games later, I get the steal sign from 3B coach and was called out. Imagine my shock when my guy was benched after the game for not following freaking instructions. Huh? At the time, I was batting .356 and leading the league in HR, RBI and SLG.

So now I spend 6 weeks with only 2 starts and a bunch of PH and PR appearances (meanwhile the guy who replaced me is hitting .230 with 2 HR). Finally in mid July I start again and I proceed to kick *** and get my BA up to the .370 mark. Except, a few weeks later I notice that my guy suddenly can't get the ball out of the IF other than an occasional HR. I guess the pitch and location and still can't hit more than a line drive which ALWAYS goes right to an IF who doesn't have to move. It's either a HR or nothing. I change my batting from ALL-STAR to ROOKIE and still the same. (BTW, I'm also playing a Mets FRANCHISE at the same time, and when I play those games, I rip the crap out of the ball).

But still I reach the end of Aug with a .319 BA/39 HR/91 RBI/28 SB, so not a bad MLB season by any standard. The Phils are also in 1st place and headed for my 1st RTTS play-off appearance. Except than on Aug 25, my review period ends and I get benched again (yes, with those stats) and only get to PH and PR in the play-offs which we proceed to lose in the 1st div round. What did I fail at? Let's see, my goals were to "over the next 5 series (17 games) draw 11 BB and get 28 RBI". Now I did draw 13 BB so that was no problem even though that's a very high number. I "only" got 22 RBI which is ridiculous because it's more than my replacement has in his whole career!! Plus, 28 RBI in 17 games is the equivalent of 267 RBI over an entire season!!! This is ridiculous on so many fronts that I won't even get into it. On top of that, I know that the game is screwing with my guy and not allowing me to hit anymore. It's as if all his stats have been minimized and I'm back to the AA starter at then beginning!

Basically, RTTS - which could be the greatest sports game mode ever - is completely ruined by this stupid system. It's like they slapped this goals "mini game" into a very sound baseball game and the 2 don't mesh. For example, I have an email from the coach in my last season in Cle congratulating me on breaking the single-season HR record. 2 days later, I missed one of my 3 goals (some other ridiculous number) and the email says that I better watch it because I'm really struggling. Come again? How can I be struggling 2 days after I broke the season HR mark?

This has to be chancged and they have to find a more organic system to implement. Sorry about the rant!

                      I'm angry at this game.

I was hitting like .375 with 18 homers and 50-ish RBI about a month and a half through my 2017 season, all 3 of those are league leading numbers, then I broke my arm and went on the 60 day DL.

Was on my way to my first All-Star Game and probably MVP award if I kept it up. Now? Nothing. ****.

Also just because you guess the pitch right doesn't mean you will get a good hit...

I'm in AAA in my third season and just had the best game of my short career thus far. In the first week of May, I just had a 4-5, 2HR, 4 RBI, 4R game. I really missed two good pitches at my last AB that looked like homers waiting to happen, but oh well. I also started the game sub .250 and now I'm at .345 for the season. This was my first multiple HR game as well. I really hope the Nat's trade me, right now I'm stuck behind Bryce Harper, Roger Bernadina, Corey Brown and Darin Mastroianni.

i have two rtts at the moment
SP: Tim Covington, Bats: L, Throws: L
Drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2012, traded midseason 2012 to the Colorado Rockies for Todd Helton, dominated AA and AAA in 2012, 2013 was a season plagued by a dislocated shoulder i think...but it was in early april so nothing really happened that season, then in the offseason I was offered a one-year deal to be the MLB Ace (pretty sweet). Made up for the fact that Texas was having 100 win seasons while I was gone (although no WS championships).
My rookie season was pretty average. The team finished in last place and my stats were as follows: 13-13 Record 3.49 ERA 145 SO.
Now in my second MLB season getting 2.5 M and team is sitting in 3rd place in mid May. Fun Stuff
