    Dick Soup
    6'1
    220 pounds
    3B

The top hitting prospect is a power power hitter that projects to have A+ power and A+ contact, althought his speed is lacking which projects to be B-. He was drafted by, you guessed it, the HOUSTON ASTROS. Dick will look to get traded as soon as possible, because 3B is one of the Astros deepest positions with 3 B players in their system.

    Starting stats:

    Power L/R: 57/51
    Clutch: 50
    Bunt/Drag Bunt: 0/0

    Speed: 36
    BR Ability/Aggression: 16/6
    Arm Power/Accuracy: 49/50

I've been doing this mode for a couple weeks now, and it has saved the game for me for a number of reasons:

      1. I only like to hit
      2. I like all stats to be my responsibility
      3. I hate hitting with lousy hitters

Now I get to control just one player, and I know all his stats are mine and he isn't going to suck.

My 3b is in AA, but I think I just had a game that I'll never top. He finished 5-7 but that's not the good part. It really starts off in the 10th, game tied 3-3 we're away.

I come up batting lefty, BOOM, gone deep right, triggers the animation. We're up by 4-3, it then skips to the 12th. Tied again 4-4.

I step to the plate batting righty this time. High fastball, BOOM, this time it's gone to left. I think that is freaking sweet , I just went deep from both sides of the plate for the first time in the same game and it's in extras. We're up 5-4 now, so I'm thinking alright we got this won...nope, on to the 15th. 5-5 top 15, I'm back up hitting left handed again, this time we have a runner on second.

First pitch, curve, hanger on the inside half and I rip into it, the ball is crushed foul not even close. I just couldn't wait. Next pitch fastball inside; ball one. 1-1, third pitch is a ball not close. Pitches 4-5-6 are fouled off, so it's 2-2. Pitch number 7, change up low and inside and I golf it deep into the night sky for my third homerun in three at bats.

I've hit three homeruns in a game before with an RTTS player, but I've never done it in that fashion. Switching sides and in extra's it felt pretty epic.

Is there ever a point in your career you stop getting a day off every 3-5 games? I'm an established star (#3 hitter, 2-time MVP, 2-time World Series MVP) in his 4th season (2017) and I'm still only playing 3-5 games in a row before being given a day off. I just finished August and my LFer is hitting .340 with 44 HR, 112 RBI, and 36 SB.

My team has played 107 games and I'v been given a "day off" 21 times. No injuries and I've met all of my advancement goals, so I wouldn't have been benched for disciplinary reasons. Out of those I did get a PH appearance 10 or 11 times, but still, doesn't that seem a little too frequent for days off? At this rate, by the end of the season, I'm going to have been given a "day off" 25+ times.

How's your durability, that is basically stamina in other games.

Is that it, probably? Does durability affect stamina? It's at an 82 but that's up from low 70s after I just poured 500+ points into it for one of my training goals.

I was just given another day off after only two games. So even after getting my durability up into the 80s, I get a day off, play two games, and get another day off.

And I was off on how many "days off" I'm going to get. I just finished July, not August. We've played 9 games in August and I've already been given a "day off" three times. That makes 24 days off out of 116 games. At this rate, that means I'm going to end up missing 30-35 games this season despite no injuries or missed training goals resulting in a benching.

I could be wrong but, in real life, if one of the best players on a team stays healthy the whole season, I don't think the manager gives him 30+ days off.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

This is my first year playing The Show. I love RTTS style modes, so I set up a beer bellied, hard throwing, hard living starting pitcher.

                Drafted by the Mets.

In my first season, I was 11-4 in AA for Binghamton with an ERA around 2.5. I played in the Futures game and was called up in August. Finished the season as a dominant middle reliever for the Buffalo Bisons, with 40 IP for 5-1 and an ERA around 1.5 but unable to crack the rotation.

I was invited to Spring Training in 2013 and was hit around pretty badly, going 2-4 with an ERA of about 5.0 in about 35 IP. I expected to be sent for a stint in the AAA rotation but due to some odd trading decisions it turns out I was the Mets #2 starter for the year. Things started badly enough and I was 1-4 out of the gate with an ERA of 5.5. However, I got myself together and finished the year 8-14 with an ERA of 3.5. The Mets are terrible and we finished last in the Division and third last in the MLB. We are 29th for power and 30th for Defence which makes wins pretty hard to come by, although I did enjoy the challenge of pitching 6-7 innings and knowing that if I gave away more than 1-2 runs there would be a problem.

The third season is a bit of a disaster. I'm 2-4 with an ERA of 5.8 in mid June. I tinkered with the difficulty before the season and so started very cold and even after bringing it back down I'm finding it hard to come out of my slump. Still, I have faith in my guy. According to the game, he's the 12th best SP in the league on ability already (which makes me worry a little about the game getting boring when he gets too good).

Right now his dominant pitch is a 4SFB which tops out at 99mph. His second pitch is a change that's a little disappointing. It normally clocks at about 86 mph and is pretty inoffensive.... He's got a decent slider that clocks in at around 88-89mps and has reasonable control although not a lot of break. His fourth pitch is a sinker that I love although it has some control issues. It clocks 90 mph.

My biggest issue is the darn Mets! I just signed a 4 year control (33 mil) as I understood that he wouldn't be eligible to go elsewhere anyway until he had 6 years in the bigs. A trade would be nice but right now I seem to be the great white hope. Having said that, my awful start this year probably has the fans talking about another big Mets bust....

IDK why I felt the need to share all this.....

That's whats been said on here. About the days off, I don't know man I am in AA and I get about one day off every 3 weeks or so.

What's your durability rating? I've had mine in the low to mid-80s since June. It's September now and I've got it up to 88, but I'm still getting a day off every 3-5 days.

I'm at 30 now with 11 games to go, which means I'll finish the season with 31 or 32 games I either didn't play or only got a PH appearance.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

OK, I'm really feeling the effects of a forced slump. I have a SP who found himself traded to the Philly's early in my second year. I was in AAA and not on the 40 man roster, and all that time in the lower divisions instead of a quick call up allowed me to build my stats up.

I ended up called up in early August and proceeded to exceed my expectations with the player and racked up a lot of 7 inning games and K's.

So I went into the next season feeling pretty confident. Played every minute of Spring Training and became the Philly's ace.

Now it seems despite my better stats (90 control in BB/9 and all of my 3 pitches), even good releases in the third season are meatballs that get absolutely crushed. Even if I go high and outside, it seems to find some plate to get smoked.

How long do these spells usually last? I'm on week my 5th start and fear the Philadelphia fans might start throwing batteries at me.

Still pissed about being snubbed for the 2018 Cy Young. Finished the season
                        18-7
                        241K's

                        2.87ERA
only to lose to a guy that went
                        18-3
                        149K's
                        187inn
                        3.27ERA.

So here in my first playoff apperance(spent first 4 big league seasons with the White Sux) going against Matt Moore. I get it going early and often striking out 4 out of the first 5 batters faced, I have a no-no for the first 5 innings until I give up a bloop single to Mark Trumbo.

We are up 3-0 in the top of the 7th when I give up a 1 out walk, then up comes Jay Bruce and he proceedes to launch a 2-2 hanging slider into the left center seats. Next batter up is Alejandro De Aza (?) and he takes a first pitch fastball and squeaks it over the wall in left to tie the game. I strike out the next two and finish out the 7th with no more damage.

My final line 7.0inn 3r 3er 7hits 2walks 14K 3.86ERA. We stay tied till te bottom of the 9th when Lonnie Chisenhall who had been one of two guys to get on base leads off with a double. Next batter is Chris Young on the day he is 2-3 with a double, triple, an RBI and 2 runs scored. But nooo, instead they decide to pinch hit Josh Reddick since there is a righty on the mound. Well he then pulls a 2-1 pitch between 1st and 2nd and gets the walk off hit.

Awesome first playoff game. I turned on, watch game/result play to give it an atmosphere and I wasn't disappointed.

A very similar thing happened to my guy in his second year in the majors. I posted about it about 10 posts back. He only played a year in the minors but such are the Mets that he started 2013 as their #2 starter. He had a great rookie year with an ERA of 3.8 (bearing in mind he'd only had a year in the minors). I am now a couple of weeks out from the end of his second year in the majors. You wanna talk about a slump? About 15 starts in his ERA was above 6!!! It's now mid-September and I've managed to claw it back down to 4.8, but still, the first half (and more) of the year, I was ice cold and on the rare occasions I could find the zone it was to get smashed over the wall. To get out of it took a lot of patience and focus with pitch selection and placement. I gave each batter a lot more thought than I had before and slowly my confidence came back. I'm now hot streaking to the end of the season with my last outing a 3 hitter complete game. Woulda been my first shutout save for the solo homer with 1 out in the 9th.

Question for the other RTTS fans... I am starting to think about adding a 5th pitch to my SP. I have 2 questions. First, will the low ratings that the 5th pitch will have when added affect my other pitches. I ask because I know that my overall velocity and control and movement apply to each of the pitches. Secondly, I would be grateful for some thoughts about what pitch to pick. The pitches are (in order):

                            1. 4SFB: tops out at 99mph, generally clocks between 97 and 99mph. Very much the dominant pitch.
                            2. Changeup: euphemistically describes as a "power changeup" by the commentators at 86-87mph. Used sparingly but nonetheless gets some batters to swing through it. Not a great deal of movement. My least favorite pitch.
                            3. Slider: fairly quick at 87-88mph and pretty good control although movement could be a little better. When it's on, its pretty effective especially low and away.
                            4. Sinker: a good alternative to the 4SFB. Comes in at 90-92mph with some movement and pretty good control for a fourth pitch. Occasionally when its singing I tend to use it more than the 4SFB.

Thoughts?? The basic dilemma at this stage is whether to go with another power pitch seeing as I'm a power pitcher or whether to go with a dramatically breaking ball, which I don't have - maybe a screwball. I'm concerned if I do the latter it's going to affect the velocity of my other 4 pitches.

                            Thanks!
