Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

What other pieces would be added into the Olt-Rasmus deal?

Gilmartin is one of ATL's 143092590234 SPs.

Like the other poster suggested, Arencibia ( if you think D'arnaud is ready) could get another good player from Texas. What position do you think the Jays need most?

Rangers were shopping Holland too. Rasmus/Arencibia/ for Olt/Holland

Could throw some filler in there

Sounds good to me, except I'm not sure where Rasmus would fit (especially if the Rangers resign Hamilton and if Kinsler makes the move to CF).

How do you value Holland? I think adjusting for position Arencibia and Holland are near in value but I think I'm winning a bit too much.

Jays need SP depth which is why I like the Holland idea and am interested in Gilmartin.

Those are two huge ifs. Huge.

Rasmus > Kinsler in CF. Keeping him at 2B and having Rasmus and Upton in the OF would be INSANE. And don't be surprised if the M's get Hambone.

I think Holland can be a good, quality starter but never a lights-out pitcher. I can see him being a Mark Buehrle kind of pitcher. How much do you think you are winning by? I'd say throw in another low-B p prospect and I can see that deal going through.

I've got a list of B prospects the Jays'll have in 2013. What position do you think TEX needs in terms of prospects, with what timeline? If they could use an SP that's about 3-4 years away Chase DeJong is a nice fit.

Either SP or 1B (unless that's where Kinsler would move) I would say

If I made this trade i'd orchestrate a J-Up trade so that Kinsler could stick in the IF.

Yeah, DeJong is a better fit.

                    JPA/Rasmus/DeJong for Holland/Olt. Hmm.

Continuing the theme of due-diligence on young 1Bs, is there any conceivable package that'd get Anthony Rizzo? IMO if the Cubbies get blown away they'd trade him.

Are we starting fresh, not counting the trade with the Rangers?

Yes. I'm just looking for a young quality 1B, something the Jays haven't had since a.) Brett Wallace wasn't terrible or b.) the Carlos Delgado days.

                        I see Rizzo's peak year at .290-ish with 30+ homers (I don't like predicting AVG/OBP/SLG numbers).

Arencibia or Gose plus some pitching prospects (take your pick on which one(s)you want to give up) I would say Gose+ low B pot pitcher or Arencibia+ high B potential pitcher

You think that's enough to blow them away? I was thinking Aaron Sanchez + Alberto Tirado + Adonys Cardona + Marcus Walden. An elite talent, a relative unknown who's looked extremely promising, a quality SP, and a sleeper. Would help the Cubbies a lot. Don't have too much pitching.

                            That's a mid A + mid B + low B/high C (still deciding) + mid C.

I would think they would like Gose because they don't have OF's and Soriano's name is constantly on the trade block or Arencibia because their starting C right now is a choice Wellington Castillo or Steve Clevenger. Then throw in some guys like you just mentioned

Sczur, Jackson, Lake, Almora, someone I always forget, they've got some nice OF options.

How about JPA + Sanchez + Cardona?
