Also, you could technically say they paid that for Shields AND Wade Davis so the price for just shields would be less than what the Royals paid
Also, he said he is in 2013 so Shields would command less of a return because he is a rentalComment

But we could all agree that they overpaid. Just because the Royals are stupid doesn't make me think that the OP should have to pay the same price IMO.

Folks, the spreadsheet is officially out of the alpha phase. It will be released as a beta and be expanded to include more editors within the coming days.
Huge props to Totte on this one."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
irl, the going rate for a rental is usually high B, 2 mid-B's, and a low B/High C. I think that we settled on 3 mid B's on here, though. 3 mid-B's equals 1 A and a C? so that could be another option...Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I don't think mid B's can ever realistically equal an A, unless a GM wants reaaaaaaaalllly wants quantity over quality, and there aren't many who are like that. I think a High B/low B/High C = Mid A/mid C"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
This is true and a good point. But I'm saying that if you are going after a rental and don't want to give 3 B's ala this year's Greinke trade, couldn't you give an A and say, 1 or 2 C's ala the Wheeler for Beltran trade? (though iirc, they gave more but I hope you get what I'm trying to say).
This means more quality going to that other team over quantity...Comment

I think Shields would probably be worth a high, high B as a rental, but he's not Grienke."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Hey, there wouldn't even be a spreadsheet without you, lol. I'm uploading it right now, will post a link soon."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
