Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I'm playing another franchise as the Royals. Since my pitching rotation kinda stinks I'm planning on moving up one of my young pitching studs from the minors. Only problem is, the one I'm considering and think is ready now is Mike Montgomery and he's a lefty. If I bring him up to replace Paulino in the rotation that would give me four lefty starers and just one right-handed starter. So, I want to trade for an ace type starter or, I guess more realistically, a solid #2 guy. I have some A prospects to offer other than Montgomery.

    Here's what I've got...

LHP John Lamb - 21 years old and A potential
RHP Jake Odorizzi - 22 years old and A potential
RHP Kelvin Herrera - 21 years old and B potential
3B Cheslor Cuthbert - 19 years old and A potential
SS Christian Colon - 22 years old and B potential
SS Orlando Calixte - 20 years old and B potential
OF Bubba Starling - 19 years old and A potential
OF Wil Myers - 21 years old and A potential

I'd like to make one of the two pitchers (preferably Odorizzi) and Starling and Myers "untouchable" but if I could get a top of the line Ace later in the season I'd be willing to part ways with one of those three plus another one or two of the prospects.

    Anyone have some good ideas?

Depending on where the Giants are at the deadline, I think getting Lincecum could be a realistic move. He's in the final year of his contract right? With Cain ad Bumgarner signed long term they might be willing to part with Lincecum, but it will take a lot. The Giants farm system is pretty weak right now so for some top prospects you could make it happen

The Giants aren't in the playoff chase at the deadline, I think Starling, Lamb, and Calixte for Lincecum would be a realistic deal. That's obviously a lot to give but Lincecum is still young, already has two Cy Youngs, and is one of the best pitchers in the league. You could maybe put another pitcher in there instead of Calixte, but I think the Giants would want hitting prospects instead of pitchers

Well, I'd have to wait until later in the season for anyone that high caliber since it's mid-April and everyone is still technically in playoff contention. I just went through to run a test, and offered Hosmer, Moustakas, and Wil Myers for Felix Hernandez and the meter didn't budge. I did the same offer to the Angels for Haren, the Nationals for Strasburg, and the Cubs for Garza and same thing, meter didn't move. I'm guessing I have to wait until late in the season when they appear to be out of playoff contention? That obviously wasn't a real trade. I was jsut trying to get a feel of what other teams my be looking for.

I wasn't aiming that high but, I guess I could throw Lamb, Myers/Starling, and someone like Jonathan Sanchez or something into the deal for an ace.

a team out of the race wouldn't want Sanchez....and yeah just wait till later in the season to offer a trade....just make sure u keep ur quality prospects healthy!

I put him on the block and noticed the Yankees have Brett Gardner who is getting no time in their lineup. They have Andru Jones starting in LF and another player rated higher than Gardner in their organization. Now they do have Nick Swisher in RF but Werth would be an upgrade.

Morse is terrible in LF(slow and horribly defensively) so I am going to move him to 1st and let Gardner play LF, while giving me a much needed lead off hitter.

I am thinking about doing a straight up trade of Werth for Gardner. Is that too low of a asking price for Werth or just right?
I'd ask for a B or two Cs too.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Looking for some ideas for my Indians franchise. In my first year and just a couple games past the all star break. I'm leading the central by 4 games over the White Sox. Looking to trade a few players in my first year with some realistic moves.

                  Wanting to trade:
                  - G. Sizemore (always been a fan, but like IRL, I feel its time for him to find a new home)
                  - D. Lowe (ERA is 5.58 and his salary is gonna make him tough to trade)
                  - M. Laporta (not panned out as hoped but his B potential should help in making a good trade)

                  Looking for:
                  - Young left handed starting pitcher
                  - LF or CF to leadoff (prefer a right bc of left heavy lineup)
                  - Power bat at 1st base (gonna get rid of Kotchman after this year. hope to get young up and coming prospect to start next year and be my 1st baseman of the future.)

What trades do you think I could pull off for what I'm looking for? Only prospect I dont plan on giving up is Lindor at SS. Also want to keep the nucleus for the future with Santana, Cabrera, Kipnis, Chisenall, Masterson, and Ubaldo if possible.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Any ideas for a bat for Pitt? Looking to make at least a semi-realistic trade, and would prefer the hitter to be in the last year of his contract (possibly 2 more years).

                    Looking at:
-Adam Jones or Upton (either would have to move to LF though)
                    -Morales from the Angels
                    -David Wright

or Loney, Trumbo to a small extent.

Which seems like the most realistic? I'm nearing the trade deadline and really need some offense help. I'm in the wildcard hunt, and want to try to make the playoffs, so I don't mind giving up some prospects. Everyone in the big leagues is available except McCuth, and a few prospects I won't trade:

                    -Gerrit Cole
                    -Josh Bell
                    -Heredia
                    -McPherson

                    Any help is appreciated!

I have a Pirates franchise as well, and I managed to get Billy Butler from the Royals to play First Base and Emilio Bonifacio from the Marlins, who I moved to shortstop, without giving up Cole, Bell, Marte, McPherson or Taillon. I think Heredia was in one of them though, but I forgot who all I included. I did both of the deals early in the season and I'm only like 7 games in. Butler is doing well for me in the 4 hole, and Bonifacio is doing decent as the leadoff and he's playing great defense. You can bunt for a hit with him 60-70% of the time you try, maybe more.

I'm looking to get rid of Ubaldo Jiminez. I'm hoping I can get some prospects for him. What should I be looking for?

Too bad LaPorta doesn't produce for you as he fits the mold of a high-upside 1B with potential. Ship him to the Bucs for Pedro Alvarez and move him to 1B? Read some reports that he's due to move to 1B in the future.

How about trying to move Derek Lowe to the Mariners for Trayvon Robinson. He'll be able to provide speed and some pop from the leadoff spot while playing either LF/CF for you. This would of course mean that the Mariners are eating a chunk of money for Lowe but worth a try.

As for a young lefty? Not the most realistic deal but Sizemore to SD for Luebke?
