Is that all? I'm leaning towards Doumit.
Jeff Mathis from the Jays if you want a defensive stopgap for the later innings. Will come really cheap as well which never hurts

Great idea, except they're in the playoff hunt too (I'm the Yankees and in first place). There's no they'd deal with me in real life. Would they?

But I'm surprised by your take between the Angels and D-Backs. You mean even if I included Morse in the deal, it wouldn't be enough for the Angels to move Trout ? If so, he's a far better prospect that I thought.

It seemed to make more sense to me for the Angels, to trade Trumbo (now that Pujols playing 1st base) and switching Trout for Morse (probably then moving Wells or Hunter at CF) than for the D-Backs to trade Goldschmidt and Young without any decent option to replace them at their respective position. That would pretty much leave them with Overbay at 1st, and moving Parra at CF.
Well it may seem sensible in the game, but Trout is mostly ranked as the #2 ranked prospect in the country, some even have him ranked above Harper

I always have reservations trading in the division, being the Red Sox, and wanting to trade with the Yanks, so you have a difficult situation. If all else fails, check free agency, there may be a good backup catcher still available

If you haven't traded for anyone yet, check out Morales on the Pirates. I'm doing a franchise with them and I liked playing with him in Spring Training.

I agree...the thing is, the Angels on paper (in the game anyway) are in my opinion legitimate contenders. They have a solid rotation, a decent bullpen, no glaring weaknesses offensively. I thought it could make sens for them to acquire a "proven" hitter like Morse instead of a young player (as prominsing as he is) like Trout...but then again, maybe they already have enough offense as it is.

Too bad, because a Trout/Trumbo combo is exactly what I would need. Doesn't get me my big arm behind the plate, but I guess I could wait for that.

              ---

I went around to see what I could get in return of LaRoche (or Nady since the CPU seems to think he has more value) and its really slim. The Rockies would agree to send me Fowler for LaRoche, but it seems to be another case of poor CPU judgment. The Rays would agree to ship me Upton for Nady, but with Pena at 1st base, I think they would be crazy to do that.

Other than that, I'm stuck with players like M.Brantley (CLE), E.Bonifacio (MIA), A.Torres (NYM), N.Morgan (MIL) or C.Gomez (MIL). None of them seem to represent a considerable upgrade on what I already have in Washington...are they ?

Bonifacio isn't a bad player if he gets on base consistently...that's one thing the Nats dont have...speed at the top..u can do a lotta things with Boni on base...hit & run, straight-steal, etc......im not saying he's worth LaRoche but just listing Boni's worth to a team....i really like Fowler tho i agree it's unrealistic

I just had a bad experience with Bonifacio in my first franchise with the Marlins... ;o)

I really wish the CPU would do a better job at evaluating trade offers and teams needs. It makes it hard to see all these trades I could pull the trigger on. Forcing yourself to be realistic can be frustrating... ;o)

unfortunately the CPU trade logic is what it is....it was supposed to be *improved* this year but the proposed trades speaks for themselves

In my Cubs franchise looking to trade Geo Soto. There's multiple teams that need a catcher, like the team I'm looking to trade him to, the Rays. The only problem is that I don't want to rip them off. If I let him walk, Soto will be a top free agent catcher, so that increases his trade value. The Rays will accept pretty much anything, even trading guys like hellickson or Moore for him. I personally think I could realistically get two of their top 15 prospects for him, something like a B and a C or since the Rays are only 2 or so games back, maybe two B players. What do you guys think?

i personally wouldn't give up anything more then 2 C's but if he's doing well then a *B* and *C* is justifiable

Thanks. I just needed a second opinion. A "B" and a "C" it is then. He's actually doing pretty well, so that's a plus.

Would it be more realistic to trade a 32 year old speed Cory Patterson or just drop him.

I need to clear a spot on my MLB roster and he's the odd man out. Wasn't really thinking I could get anything than another bench vet which I don't need.

just outright release him if he serves no purpose

                                Exactly.

Aging veterans on the final year of contracts that are performing badly never get traded in real life. They get released. I just had to DFA Garcia, but only because I want to trade for a catcher to fill out the 40 man.

Could I trade Garcia? Yes. But that's a flaw in the game's system.
