Well yes and no, I'm just saying in general there is no problem with that issue, and that putting Bentances in the bullpen isn't a bad idea at all. It was basically just a response to what you and nofatgurlz were talking about.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Why not put your prospects in the bullpen when there's no room for them in the rotation. Atlanta has been doing it and it seems to be working for them. Why have them stay in AAA, if there killing it there and they have no purpose. Get them some expoerience pitching in the big leagues and then if theres an injury or someone struggles they can step into the rotation.Steelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Alright, I'm looking and looking and looking...and I always come back to Trumbo/Trout as the ideal acquisitions for my Nats. So here's a scenario I had in mind, let me know what you think.
Nationals get: (1B) Mark Trumbo and (CF) Mike Trout. Plus, if judge necessary, the Nationals would take either one of Ryan Langerhans or Bobby Abreu salary, which the Angels are apparently trying to get rid of.
Angels get: (1B) Xavier Nady, (3B) Anthony Rendon and (LF) Mike Morse.
Reasoning
The Nationals gets their CF, and upgrade another one of their position of needs at 1B with Trumbo, who finally gets a chance to be an everyday starter. He's not a huge upgrade to Morse defensively, but a natural 1B rather than playing Morse at 1B. The moves also allow the Nationals to use LaRoche as a pinch hitter, or DH when playing the American league.
The Angels lose a very good prospect in Trout, but replace him with Morse who should provide more offense right now in their attempt to capture a championship. They also acquire another A-prospect in Rendon, who's playing 3B, which is probably the weakest spot in their line-up right now, judging by the players overall. The Angels have a decent prospect there in Cowart, but it seems Rendon is a lot better (ranked 3rd in mlb.com list at 3B, 25th overall). They lose Trumbo, but with Pujols and Morales playing at 1st base, I'm thinking they could easily do without him, even as a DH. They also get rid of an unwanted contract, replacing him by a cheaper player who can play 1B, or all three outfielders position, giving them even more flexibility.
---
Two questions...
1) Does it seem fair ?
2) If so, I'd like to know if you see anyway to include Maicer Izturis to that deal, as I'm also in need of a utility player that can play all around the infield. Obvisouly, I would have to add something else, and do the trade in two different ones, but I force myself to make only one trade (one team in this case) before the season, and Izturis seemed like a good option for what I needed.
A) The Angels would never trade Mike Trout, he is straight out there organization, and a gem they found late in the 1st round. He's the top rated prospect in Baseball by many and is so untouchable that you'd put him in there with Harper and Strasburg etc.
B) Rendon will probably have to move to 2B, he will not stay a 3B, he is had major injury problems and is out for the rest of this year. So his trade value has decreased a little.
C) Morse is 30 years old past his peak, and has had one good year in the majors, he strikes out alot, is a defensive liablitity, and is not a guarenteed thing considering he's only did this once in his career.
D) Trumbo is a guy who isn't proven too be much more than a power guy who has a terible OBP, and isn't great on D. This might be the next Morse type player or around that.
E) Nady, Langerhans and Abreu are basically all washed up and shouldn't even be considered trade pieces.
SO no this trade doesn't seem like it would work.Last edited by bugle987; 05-16-2012, 01:24 PM.Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
i respectfully disagree with you on this one......i factor in service time and the chance that the prospect might struggle.......i dont want to have to shuttle him up and down if i dont have to.......and like i said before, i rather have a prospect pitch X amount of innings every 5th day in AAA then having his appearances be random in the majors..... If you're the Braves (just using your example) and placed Teheran and Delgado in the bullpen and they pitched to a 1 ERA(another random example), over let's say 10 appearances, what would u do with the rest of the bullpen? especially if they were pitching solid or lights-out? Maybe it's just me but i like my starters to be starters throughout their career (even tho i know that's not always gunna happen)Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I get where your coming from but in situations where there is no room in the rotation and this prospect is dominating in AAA, why not get him experience in the bullpen, and then let him win his job in ST the next year. This way he's not wasting his innnings and juice in the minors where he doesn't need to develop anymore.Steelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
the most important question is when are u planning to promote the prospect to the majors and what type of shape the team is in? for a perennial losing team like the Pirates or Royals, sure i wouldn't mind a hotshot pitching prospect whose in AAA, a few starts in September...but only in September if they're out of it...but it'd be unrealistic if the Yanks used the same method with Banuelos or BetancesComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Alright, I'll make my peace with Trumbo/Trout. I'm starting to think that I should stay put for now, start the season, and keep in bank that one trade I allow myself to make for later in the season. I guess I can rotate between Harper/Morse in the LF for now, using Bernadina in the middle, and rotate LaRoche/Morse at 1B to begin the season, and we'll see how it turns out.
There's not much that really interest me at CF, aside from Trout right now. The other possibilities (although I'm not aware of their respective status with their team) I see right now are:
- Adam Jones (BAL)
- Brett Gardner (NYY)
- Desmond Jennings (TB)
- B.J. Upton (TB)
- Ben Revere (MIN)
- Yoenis Cespedes (OAK)
- Franklin Gutierrez (SEA)
- Michael Bourn (ATL)
- Domonic Brown (PHI)
- Brett Jackson (CHI)
- Drew Stubbs (CIN)
- Nyjer Morgan (MIL)
- Carlos Gomez (MIL)
- Andrew McCutchen (PIT)
- Sterling Marte (PIT)
- Chris Young (ARI)
- Dexter Fowler (COL)
- Cameron Maybin (SD)
- Gary Brown (SF)
That's judging only by their ratings and potential, since I don't even know most of them. Not even sure some of the younger guys are actually worth it or not. And some of them I wouldn't be ready to trade Morse for...he might be a defensive liability, but he's still a pretty good hitter in the game.
Any names above strike your attention as possible trade scenarios I should/could explore ?Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Your the Nats, right ? I can't comment on the trade, because I don't as much about baseball as some of these guys, but quick question (since I'm also running a franchise with them) why do you feel the need to add Jimenez to the rotation ? I felt the starting five are solid, and letting Morse go would hurt you offense more than it would help your rotation... ?Comment
