They're not going to plug up much of his void. I agree. My main point was that Bourne is batting around the Mendoza line and these players are serviceable enough to play 50 games and keep his playoff hopes afloat.

I thought I made that pretty clear a few times now. But I can see where throwing out a list of mid tier veterans can seem like I meant them to be solutions.

I think that they will be cheap and can help his team win. Unless he does what I think you suggested and decide to shop the farm. He never mentioned that he was willing to do that, so I listed players that would be attainable and for not very much and can probably hit better than .208.

No, it's not all that likely. I agree. But we're not talking Trout or Harper here. And keep in mind, I never expected NYY to trade Jackson or Montero, or for SEA to deal Pineda.

Different circumstances, I know. But he has struggled in DET in the past. I could see them entertaining offers in real life, but I'm no expert on this. A player like him that strikes out as much has him I can't assume is always safe in real life.

Especially if the return is bountiful and and deepens DET plans moving forward.

If I can get around not trading bourn then that's what I would like to do. But I just can't get on base with him so his speed is useless. I just called up Simmons to platoon short with pastronicky and he seems to be doing pretty good for now.

So my main concern is 3B or LF I'm looking for a long term fix here (get to that in a minute).

Prado is on the DL right now and will be for a month or so. So I would like to bring in somebody that can play left now. And if he so happens to be a long term left fielder I can always move Prado to 3B when chipper retires.

Now I would really really like a long term fix at 3rd for next year. That will allow me more options. Because then I have somebody to take over chippers spot (when he retires) and allows me to keep Prado in left and he can play anywhere in the infield when guys need a day off if need be.

          JNott,

How are TB and BJ Upton doing?

TB is in the hunt and are 2.5 back in the wild card. If I could pull in BJ Upton that could help out because then he can go to center, Rasmus to Left. And when Prado comes bak he can take over short to give pastronicky and/or Simmons more time to grow in the minors then move Prado to 3B next year.

But how realistic is this, and what would be a fair trade for him? The bar filled with Upton and bourn straight up

As far as Upton being traded in general, I've heard rumors in the past so I think Tampa would most certainly entertain offers (not saying they'd do it) in a generic sense.

IF he's struggling/a clubhouse distraction/or TB has a stud waiting to replace him in the wings, I think an Upton trade is realistic in real life. But then it wouldn't be cheap.

But, as far as 1:1 with Bourne? No. It would cost you more.

How much? I can't really say. Maybe someone else can offer their opinion?

How about you trade for a prospect 3b that will be ready for next year. Arenado, Cuthbert, Gyroko, MiddleBrooks, Castelannos, Davidson, Cox, or Olt. These guys will cost a little bit more, but it can be your future.

I'm only at the end of may of my franchise so everybody is still in it. The Phillies are currently last in the division, while I'm in first. My Rotation is Sabathia, Kuroda, Nova, Hughes, Pettitte. I want another ace to top off my rotation to ideally move Hughes to the Bullpen. Seems the best two options are Hamels and Greinke, if you help me put toegther a package for each that would be great!

I think this is definitely a good choice, but I'm thinking he should keep his prospects (in regards to filling his 3B hole next year, NOT in general) and try to land his 2013 3B during the 2012 offseason.

If Chipper retires and he comes off the books, and especially if he doesn't resign Hudson or Jurrjens, he'll have plenty of money to offer during free agency.

I'd focus on the "now" now. And worry about the future during the offseason. He doesn't have a very big lead in the division currently. He needs to create some breathing room, IMO.

I think you need to give up Bourn and a prospect like Todd Cunningham.

Both are 1 year rentals, but still they'd cost you Banuelos, Bentances, and Williams

Unless Bourne is renewable or arbitration eligible, I just can't see TB essentially swapping out Bourne for Upton unless TB wanted and KNEW they could retain Bourne for 2013.

Without knowing the nature of Bourne's contract and service time, my gut tells me this is unrealistic. Especially if Bourne isn't hot right now, which he isn't.

                            For Greinke? Yes.

But as a Yankees fan, I'd be furious if they did this deal for Hamels.

And then I'd only do it if I went all out and was pretty sure I could sign Greinke during the offseason.

I, personally, wouldn't part with Banuelos for a rental. He'll be in my rotation next year and cheaply. Betances and Williams? Yes. No way personally on Banuelos though unless Greinke is mine in 2013.

                            Just my opinion.

I'd much rather have Hamels then Greinke..... i think that pretty set this offseason too, that Hamels is better.

Boston would never trade Middlebrooks.....not a chance
