Well I'm a long time Phillies fan, so theres that. I certainly care about being fair, but doesn't that seem like a fair trade for a team that is in contention to win a World Series? SS has always been a position of weakness for the BoSox and this could put them over the edge.

they could use an upgrade at 3B, CF, maybe RF and the entire pitching staff

          Fair? Yes
          Realistic? No

Aim for that WC spot dude. With J-Roll producing those kind of numbers he can carry you to the playoffs. Middlebrooks might do the same for Lehigh-Valley if you care about the AAA playoffs

i'd hang on to J-Roll personally....ur still in the WC-hunt...no reason to give up a useful player with 2 months left to go

Overall depth meaning the best prospect they can get. They're not in a situation where they can be picky

I went ahead and did it. For reasons I can not explain, I've lost hope in my team for the year, and decided it was time to move on. Middlebrook fills a void at 3B, as Polanco is likely done after this year or next. I have Galvis who I like a lot, and this allows me to keep starting him with Utley back.

It just seemed to make sense.

Me too. I almost always keep trades at a minimum. I just feel like this is a team that is getting a little too old, and if we aren't competing this year, we won't compete next year either. A good time to make a move, IMO.

Thats true, but I'm not sure that its any more or less insurmountable without Rollins. Utley is back, and Galvis is hitting well. I still feel like theres an outside shot to win a spot.

Are the Brewers in playoff contention?
