I see what you talking about now, if I had the problem I would be speaking up about it just like you are. I am sure that it will get resolved by the devs.

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread

Okay, just finished up my first two games against the Dodgers (using the Mets) with HOF hitting/pitching since several posters have said it more resembles the All-star settings from last year.

First off, those that said the lighting was tweaked were right, it definitely has more pop but also more subtlety in other areas, if that makes any sense. The overall visuals are also more crisp and sharp, giving it a cleaner appearance. Nothing revolutionary but definitely an improvement.

The gameplay. Admittedly a sample size of two games is not much to make an overall impression of the whole package, but the hit variety will IMMEDIATELY become noticeable, along with the opened up hitting windows. I managed to put several balls in play against Kershaw that I don't think would be possible in '12 or before, whether it be a solid hit, bloop or foul it just seemed that contact was generally more opened up. Not necessarily easier, just more polished and physically accurate, which is great. But I also struck out 19 times between both games, which is on par for my rate of Ks last year, which I'm OK with too.

Using analog pitching on HOF I didn't see a drastic change in difficulty, but I did notice that I was missing my spots more when pitching the corners causing the me to walk alot of batters in the two games played. This is real good news to me.

Presentation updates and touches really make the game feel fresh, with new overlays, camera angles and cutscenes. The commentary flow is pretty dated though, but what was added with Steve Lyons and updated dialog is pretty nice for what its worth. New animations in the field give more variance to results after a play and look beautiful as usual.

Great advancements this year for this series so far. I say so far because I haven't even touched Franchise , RTTS, or Show Live. These additions cant be overlooked when sports game of the year awards come around.

Spoke to soon. David Price just shut me down. He went 6.1 and gave up only 3 hits. He had 12K's and no runs against, but at least I wore him out. I ended up scoring two against the pen, but lost 3-2.

I hit a beauty triple with Coco Crisp, I don't recall hitting many triple at all in previous games. He hit one to the opposite field and at first I thought lazy fly ball, but it kept carrying...and carrying...and carrying and I was thinking home run, but it went off the fielders glove, off the fence and bounced towards centre. RBI stand up triple. The the commentators even said, "the outfielder thought it was a lazy fly ball, but the ball kept carrying..."

This game is the best simulation of its really life counter part. Last night Matt Cain pitched a perfect game against me while I was the dodgers. This evening I touched him up for 8 runs in 3 innings with the Diamondbacks.

                - I was a guess pitch junkie but I don't like what they did with it so I just played without it. My first game I racked up 13 hits and won 6-3.

                - The commentary is improved and there are several nice new cut screens and presentations.

                - Love the new extreme catcher views

                - The fielders seem smaller which is good, the ball actually gets between them now. I am playing without any sliders moved yet, normally I would have fielder speed and reaction down at 2 or 3. Reaction may have to move, but the speed seems about right.

                More to follow
I HATE what they did with guess pitch!!!

As someone else said I don't know exactly what it is but the depth of field seems much better and more realistic now.

                  Makes such a difference.

I had said that as I'm sure others have. I just hit a beautiful double with "Jussell" Martin (who us Canadians are pissed at right now) at PNC to the deepest part of the field. It was a long kinda lazy fly ball, but because it was so deep it carried over the CF'ers head and dropped just before the wall. Last year the CF'er would have been camped under it long enough to have a sandwich.

I have tickets for the London Knights game this afternoon and don't even want to go, LOL.

                    I am loving this game!!!

                      Ok, EARLY IMPRESSIONS...

1- After a few hitter friendly games on "all-star I bumped up to "legend" difficulty & faced Sabathia... And, CC shoved it down my throat! I'm SURE I'll be able to find a happy medium between multiple difficult levels & slider teaks (if needed)

2- Love the speed of the fielders & which the ball travels, can REALLY differentiate player to player & their defensive rankings...

                      3- accumulating "K's" are back @ AT&T & hanging in their rightful spots ;-)

4- player faces, stadiums etc... VERY crisp!

5- I turn off all hitting & pitching aids so I don't know what was done with the "guess pitch" feature?

                      More in a bit...

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread

So I just finished my first game. O's vs. Yanks

C.C. Sabathia got 8 strike outs, and held me scoreless until I hit a HR with JJ Hardy in the 8th. I gave up 3 HRs with Wei Yin Chen. Of course, Rivera shut the door on me and I lost

I definitely love the way the game feels this year. Hitting feels so much more realistic. The amount of strikeouts and walks also seem to be more realistic in this years game. I usually take my fair share of pitches, but in previous games I found myself watching opposing pitchers either pitch complete games against me, or get knocked out by the 5th inning. CC threw 120 or so pitches before my HR and they pulled him after. Hopefully these pitch counts keep up bc I definitely like it.

Overall, I enjoyed my first game very much. I did not have any pitch stutters but I did notice the crowd is a bit rambunctious as people have said.

I also was a bit disappointed in the 9th when I got on base with Wieters...tried to pinch run casilla for him and after i selected "yes" to pinch running, it just went back to the game with Wieters still on first. I'm sure that'll be fixed quickly

just messing around in exhibition mode, differences between aces and #5's are much more noticeable this year. I played just a few innings vs the Mariners twice. Felix Hernandez had a perfect game through 4 against me before i quit to test out a game vs Noesi...scored 5 in the first inning off him. And i planned on doing this, I did not rage quit because I was getting perfected haha
