Re: MLB 13 The Show Q & A Thread
I am new to baseball/MLB The Show and while i have watched games and understand the basic rule's to enjoy it, that is where it ended.
Have been messing around in franchise mode while learning to play and having a hard time understanding how rosters/lineups work.
My Q
How do i pick my squad(25 man squad i think) at the end of ST ? or does it just do it automatically and i have to use one of there 3 upgrade /downgrade things (totally clueless). Managing a basketball squad is so much easier, haha.
Been reading some guides to baseball, now need to find a good one on team roster rules and such.Comment

The day before ST ends...you can choose to send 15 of your players down from the MLB spring training squad.(which is also the 40 man roster....there are two "rosters" for MLB teams...the 25 man(the MLB squad) and the 40 man(which is everyone on the 25 man plus 15 others that are "protected" from the Rule V draft(a draft in the off season in which teams can take players from your team...don't worry about that now though)
For a player to be able to be called up to the MLB squad...he must be on the 40 man roster.
Out of ST it's good to carry
at least 11 pitchers(5 or 6 starters....5 or 6 RP and 1 CP)
at least 2 catchers
at least 4 OF'ers....
The rest is "gravy"
If a player has no option years left(it's on the card of the player when you hit triangle on him in the manage roster screen) he may have to pass through waivers if you try and send him down to the minor leagues.(other teams have the chance to take him if that's the case.
That's the gist of getting out of spring training.

Re: MLB 13 The Show Q & A Thread
Thanks Knight165 , starting to understand it.
While messing around i sent all my 40 man squad to the majors, why did some of the players have to use 1 of there MLO yet others didn't , were theres activated in ST or something ( i simmed ST).
Also once a player has his MLO activated he can be switched between majors and minors for the rest of the season, correct.
also seen there's a transaction handbook in game, will have to give it a read.Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Q & A Thread
Yes...if you have 40 players on the 40 man....the game is going to make decisions based on all 40 players. If you start with just 25 players on there and the CPU doesn't have to move anyone down....(or if YOU move your guys down)...the CPU won't change lineups.
The speed for the FF is the L1/R1 shoulder buttons.
For the defensive setup....it's X....go to the catcher screen and choose defensive pos.....then you will see AT BAT-BATTING LINEUP ...you use the d-pad to go left right to the whole lineup....and through each individual player...then down to the DURATION....then down to the actual setup.
It's greyed out until you move down on the d-pad to each separate portion of the screens.
Go into the OSFM thread(the 2013...not the recruiting and metsfan4life is doing the Mets...I believe he's uploaded to the player vault 8 Met prospects already...I'm sure those guys are included in that.
Slightly...not enough to move up past the recommended IMO. Some guys say it's more though.

Not sure if I came across this in the additional digital manual or the in game one through the menus, but there's a little tidbit about RTTS that says as you move up from AA, AAA and finally to the majors, the difficulty goes up. Does that mean that within All-Star, there's 3 "sub-difficulties" that makes RTTS tougher as you move up? Or is this just the game trying to keep up with your improving player?
I ask because in Franchise, HOF difficulty across the board is perfect for me but for years now, I've been playing RTTS on All-Star because, tbh, I like to be a significant difference maker with my guy. This has allowed me to hit above .300 but nothing insane. Atm, on All-Star, I'm hitting .400+ which is a bit much even for my wants. But I'm afraid to bump up to HOF and then struggle to hit .275. That's not fun for me.
Will these 3 sub-difficulties take care of that for me? Is anyone familiar with what the game is referring to?Comment

bcruise did a wonderfully clever test to figure out how the difficulty level changes in RTTS.... so we don't have to keep wondering any more.
In short, it looks like the difficulty level you specify in your own setting is applied at the AAA level, and at the AA and MLB levels, you will be playing at one level lower or higher than what you specify. (The change is made internally, so you cannot see it reflected in the setting you see.)
For example, if your setting is HoF, you'll be playing at All-star at AA and Legend at MLB level. If your setting is All-star, you'll be playing on Veteran at AA, HoF at MLB, so on and so forth. (If the level go above or below what is allowed in the game, the difficulty level stays within the range.... e.g., if your setting is already Legend, you'll be playing HoF down in AA but are still Legend in MLB.)Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Q & A Thread
When using auto running I was able to cue the runner to steal with te L2 button, but it doesn't seem to work this year. I can get them to increase thier lead via the L1,but not the steal. Any help would be appreciated.Comment
