Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Made a quick list for the three guys I might be looking to trade this season. No names/targets in mind yet, but thought I'd make sure I'm focussing on the right team this time.

Tyler Chatwood: Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies...I also had St.Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants on the list, but I'm not sure why anymore, might not make sense.

Trevor Story: Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Angels, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, St.Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants.

Michael Cuddyer: Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins (only because he did have success there, but might be too old for them), New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants.

Any obvious teams that I should add/remove from the list ?

Machado is the future SS of the Orioles and Erick Aybar has a 4-year extension from the Angels meaning I'd remove those two teams from the list

I need a potential trade to get Tulo to the Cards.

I would prefer to not give up all my prospects but i realize it will take a hefty haul. I am hoping that Tulo's recent injury history and monster contract (I would assume all of it) decreases his value a bit. I am also hoping to build the deal around Carlos Martinez but who else would I have to throw in to make this fair/realistic?

Note: I am at the very beginning of the season but I am not comfortable with Furcal as my starting SS so I will likely flip him for outfield depth.

Wasn't sure if this was still the plan, as he's 3B now. And yeah, I don't know why the Angeles ended up on my list, doesn't seem to make sense now that I think about it. Removed them both, thanks.

He's playing 3B now because they've got Hardy for SS since he signed a 3-year extension a year ago. Look for Machado to move to SS as soon as JJ leaves after 2014 (or through a trade prior to that)

Fair would be building around Miller rather than Martinez. Since Martinez doesn't carry as much value as Miller, it's the pieces around him in the deal that'll have to be more valuable. Think Martinez, Wacha, Rosenthal and Matt Adams

Also another trade I'm thinking of. Tampa Bay is completely out of contention last place in their division and my bullpen is garbage. I'm looking to get Jake McGee and he's listed as a high C in the spreadsheet. So would it be alright if I gave them my highest C prospect which is a 22 yr old 74 ovr sp I believe. Or should I give them more?
                    Fair.

                    That's fine for McGee.

I didn't look at any real life top prospect lists or anything and Taillon doesn't have the top 50 icon in the game. I just feel like Milone and Donaldson for just Alvarez isn't a great deal on my end
It's a fine deal. Just because someone doesn't have the top 50 icon doesn't mean they aren't incredible prospects.

Looking to unload Tom Wilhelmsen and Joe Saunders at the trade deadline to competing teams that could use them. I don't really have any prospects in mind, but would appreciate some ideas on teams most likely to make a deal. Note there doesn't appear to be many major injuries to SP just some ones they're coming back from soon.

Teams in division lead: Rangers, Braves, Royals, Red Sox, Dodgers, Reds
Teams in wild card race or close to division lead: Giants, Nationals, Brewers, Phillies, Jays, Tigers, Orioles, Yankees, Angles.

                      Saunders: 5-7 4.00 era
Nationals might be a good destination they traded Haren, and their 5th starter Ross Ohlendorf has a 7.11 era.

Tom Wilhelmsen: 33 Saves 2.25 era
I figured a good location for Tom would be Detroit. Rondon isn't doing well.

Well the O's have traded for Saunders before as could do it again . The Nats are definitely a good spot for him if they're stuck with Ohlendorf
as their no 5. He's got a history with the Angels and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up back there someday.

When trading Wilhelmsen, you're right about looking to land him a closer gig but a team in contention might as well be buying to get a quality setup man that can step in a get a save if required. The Tigers are the obvious fit but in thinking the Giants would take a long hard look at him as well (to work mainly in setup but to be used as a closer when Romo needs a break)

Is he still on the Yankees? In general, I'd say just minor league depth. Find a high C prospect and flip him for Boesch

Wilhelmson's value is listed as 2 high C's. Instead of taking 2 prospects would it work to try to find 1 mid B to get in return. Or is that too much?
