Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Okay guys, I need some help. Here are some trades I'm planning to do (with stats for once!). I'm around 15 games in or something like that so nothing major here.
Texas trade
Spoiler
Soto(.143 OBP in minimal PT)
Grimm (3.46 ERA in a couple starts)
FOR
Arencibia (same as Soto but he's A potential)
Sierra (lowmid B prospect, hitting well .286 AVG in AAA)
Oliver (pitching well in a couple innings but this is a realism thing)
Seattle Trade 1
Spoiler
Ackley (.200 OBP, before the mendoza line, just baaaad)
FOR
Josh Thole (.167 OBP, B POT, in the trade so that Montero wouldn't catch)
Moises Sierra (above, Seattle has a huge OF hole after injuries)
Seattle Trade 2
Spoiler
Jesus Montero (.151 OBP owowowow)
Jeremy Bonderman (hasn't really pitched but I need depth)
FOR
Ricky Romero (2 DIPS at AAA, the bane of my existence, A POT)
Seattle Trade 3
SpoilerJustin Smoak (.216 average... AT AAA)
FOR
Ryan Goins (.529 OBP in AAA lolol)
Any advice from anyone? Obviously fairness and realism are 100% necessary.Denver Broncos
Colorado Rockies

Don't like th Jays one because Ouna is 18, and will require a lot of waiting. Would you take the Sox or Braves?Comment

Trade 2: I'm not sure there' quite ready to give up on Ackley yet. I'd suggest to wait until July and if the M's middle infield prospects are doing well, go for it.
Trade 3: Does Romero still have value? Not sure the M's would admit their mistake on Montero quite yet. What I mean by that is they'd need a bigger return. Send them Kyle Drabek too maybe? Maybe something around Nolin for Montero and something else?
Trade 4: I think Smoak is in the same situation as Ackley and Montero in that their name value outstrips their current talent. So, for Smoak, I'd wait until the deadline so it's CLEAR to Seattle he's not ever going to be what they thought. Then go for it.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Ok here is why I think the Rockies are not going to be sellers this year:
First of all, Tyler Colvin is going to return to form around the all-star break and probably carry the team on his back to the World Series. (I'm really not super high on Colvin, I just think he is better than what WTNY is giving him credit for.)
But for real, Chacin, Nicasio, and De La Rosa are all starting to become solid starters. (They are all coming off of fairly serious injuries, Chacin with a pectoral issue that really effected his stats and performance last year. Nicasio with a knee injury that kept him out for half of last year and getting hit by a line drive that knocked him out for a year before that. And JDLR with the Tommy John surgery.)
I'm not as high on Nicasio because of his inconsistency but I think next year he could solidify himself as a 3-4 starter. What I AM excited about is Chatwood. He's shown that he could be a very solid starter after his play in AAA and his few starts this year in the bigs. I think Pomeranz is finally starting to figure things out in AAA as well which could be huge.
That gives the Rockies a fairly solid rotation: Chacin (assuming he gets even better with more seasoning), De La Rosa, Chatwood, Nicasio (assuming he is more consistent by next year, he has shown a lot of improvement his last couple of starts after adding a new pitch), and Pomeranz.
Their offense really isn't a concern, especially with Nolan Arenado coming into the mix at 3B which has been the Rockies hole in their lineup for years. Give him the rest of this year in the bigs and he could have a huge year next year.
Wilin Rosario has shown a lot of improvement behind the dish. Rutledge was a little bit of a let down, but he could be a very solid player if he can figure things out this year. (I think he was just called up too soon and having him switch positions didn't help much with his development either.)
Throw all of that together with Tulo, CarGo, Fowler, Cuddyer and a bullpen that has been impressive, and you will have a team that is built for a run for the division.
The reason I don't think they are sellers THIS year is because I think they are going to let this group play it out for a year or two to see if they can make a run with Arenado in the mix. If they don't show any promising signs in a year or two than I would fully expect CarGo and possibly Tulo dealt to get value while they are still under contract.
But I really just can't see any major deals being made this year.
So there's that. Let the bashing begin.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Trade 1: This is the one I like the most, but I feel you are giving up a bit too much. I'd remove Sierra actually.

Deck McGuire, he of a .64 ERA in AA so far? Although I kinda want to keep him lol. I could throw in Sierra here, or Kenny Wilson, or Kevin Pillar.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
OK, toss Sierra into the Montero trade, and I'll rubber stamp all of these. My only suggestion would be to wait on Smoak until the ASB. You have Lind and EE, so it should be ok for a couple of months, right? Can always sign Thome.....
Other than timing though, no real concerns.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Would any of these be okay to do right now?

I think if you could fill in at 1B until July, and then get Smoak, it would be best. Just imoChicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
My comment was I think every one of those trades except for the Smoak one could be completed now realistically. If you take Ackley and Montero and Smoak, what's Seattle's lineup like--particularly at 1B?
I think if you could fill in at 1B until July, and then get Smoak, it would be best. Just imo
Seattle would have Morales at 1B, and Raul Ibanez at DH. Taylor Ard could come up, as could Ji-Man Choi.
Mike Morse is out for a couple of weeks but he'll be back soon and is off to a great start.
And obviously their MIF depth is incredible."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
