Just for the sake of discussion, I'm curious as to who you'd all think the Cardinals would give up for a MLB ready franchise shortstop? I saw that they'd be willing to deal Molina for the right price, but who else do you all think STL is willing to move?

Tulo to the Cards has been discussed if you search back in the thread. Also think we did a scenario with A-Cab coming over from the Tribe. The Taveras for Profar swap was discussed as well...any other names we haven't touched on yet that you had in mind?

Do you guys see either the Tulo / Profar swaps as being realistic? I know we just talked above about Profar being pretty much untouchable and I know the Rockies would like to use Tulo as a cornerstone in building their franchise.

Seriously though, I think I made mention that he's probably taken and passed a bunch of drug tests.

But it would be naive to think these players don't have access to designer drugs that can't be detected. As a chemist, I know it would be near impossible to test for EVERYTHING.

But it appears I hit a nerve, as a Cubs fan feel your pain though (Sammy) although Bautista isn't guilty of anything as of now, except for having some monster seasons that stand out. Man he's come a long way since being an AAAA UTIL INF on the Pirates.

I think Jose Bautista could net Profar but that's the only player on the Jays I can say that for

Too old. I don't see them sending a #1 prospect for a 32-y/o OF who's probably played his best seasons already.

Another spreadsheet realism thing; would you guys say the Pirates would trade Liriano under the right circumstances?

I don't see it. If Tulo came with guaranteed good health, then yeah, sure. But I just don't see it with Tulo missing so many games due to injury. The Rangers would really have to believe his injuries were fluky to do that.

I'm in the offseason right now and can't decide what to do with certain players that have team options and are FAs. I will eventually end up back here, but I was wondering if there is a thread for these types of questions.

There are actually 2 threads for this. Check out the rosters subforum, there's a thread by komicj I believe on the ins and outs of 30 team control.

Also, there's a thread in this Show subforum from Threebs (you might have to dig a page or 2). That thread is called something like "how to have a successful offseason." That might be helpful to you.

After checking to see what teams were in contention, and want teams would take on Rollins salary, the Red Sox were really the only team willing to take him. Ciriaco is hitting .271 with 2 HR and 26 RBIs. They are a game back in the AL East behind the Rays (who won't take his salary), and are 1.5 games ahead in the Wild Card.

I'm the diamondbackd and want to upgrade my OF cuz I feel has been part of the problem why we are a .500 team so far. (Most of my errors are by my OFs)

Two guys I was thinking about are jacoby ellsbury or cargo. They both can hit steal and play defense good.

My question is what's more realistic and fair and what's it going to cost to get one of them.

Ellsbury is more realistic for 2 reasons. 1. Is that he is a free agent at the end of the year, and wants ALOT of money (Boras is his agent no surprise) 2. CarGo is a star player in your division. That spells no.

Ellsbury is a low A on the spreadsheet. But what does his stats look like?

Iglesias looks to be REALLY far away from being able to hit in the majors, and Bard got traded to the Cubs.

He's shown development. His defense is above par too. He should be at .250-.260 at his peak.
