Angels, Astros, Jays and I guess the Yankees (platoon of Youk/Wells)

and if you take out the division it's the Jays and the Yanks.
The Jays have Adam Lind batting .215
The Yankees have Youk hitting .217 and Vernon Wells hitting .222

The Jays also need a 5th starter because Romero isn't doing crap

I dunno. It's not the most unrealistic thing ever I suppose, but did you see the Fangraphs piece on Matt Carpenter the other day? They basically said he's playing like the 3rd best 2B in baseball (only behind Cano and Zobrist, though Zobrist plays OF a lot). I think the Cards know how good Carpenter is (and they really have good luck with guys named "Carpenter"), so I think you'd have an easier time getting Wong actually. Would you be interested in Kolten Wong as your 2B?

Maybe something around one of your young starters (Sanchez, Osuna, Nolin, Norris etc..) for Wong, though St. Louis doesn't particularly need pitching. Maybe something based around Jose Reyes for Wong + ______. Not sure what you think of Reyes though. They might also like Casey Janssen.

He had a freak accident, now he's getting past it. Iglesias, if he does get traded, will most likely be traded for a starting pitcher, not a position that will yield a small upgrade.

As for the comment about trading Bard (Taking away that he was traded to the Cubs according to Bwood). He has little to no trade value.
Because Rollins can withhold a wOBA over .300, unlike Iglesias not on BABIP-roids? And you can't just 'have someone keeping the seat warm' when you're contending?

There's no chance I'm dealing Reyes but don't worry, I intend on paying a premium. I was thinking something involving Osuna (better than everyone but Sanchez who's almost untouchable) and Sergio Santos.

I did see that article and think it's sliiiiightly too optimistic (not by thaaaaat much) and don't want Wong.

AC, I'm just throwing this out there (sorry to keep bugging you and only you, but you are obviously the guy to talk to when it comes to the Blue Jays)

          Jays get:
Kendrys Morales - a new DH and you can even play him at 1st in a pinch
Aaron Harang - you guys lead the division, but not by much, as all 4 others are within 10 games at the deadline. All your starters except Ricky Romero are performing adequately. He's 0-7 with a ERA just over 6. The Harangatang is 7-6 with a ERA of 4.32 he would be an immediate upgrade

          Mariners get:
Emilio Bonafacio - super utility guy that I love to have on the bench
Brett Cecil - I could put this kid in the bullpen. He has a ERA under 3 in over 100 IP in a long relief role

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I've been thinking about doing something that the Brewers could do in the next few years, and thats moving Segura to 2B, since that's his best position. That would however block Scooter Gennett. Who's a SS that I could get in a year or 2 that is a good defender? I was thinking of maybe moving Gennett to ATL for Pastornicky and maybe a decent pitcher (MLB ready or not). I think I may be thinking a bit to far into the future since I don't know what team might need a 2B in the next few years but I think ATL could be a good fit since Uggla is going to be slowing down in the next few years

Another option could be the Yanks if they lose Cano in FA

            Any other suggestions?

Gennett could be a fit in Dodgertown as they lack a good 2B option. The Mets would probably come calling as well if you made Gennett available. The phillies could use a replacement for Utley in a year or two

I like the idea of moving him to the Dodgers. That is if they don't get Cano (they signed him in a different 'chise of mine) Plus I could maybe get Dee Gordon in a deal involving Gennett

The Mets could be a good trade partner since I could get Daniel Murphy since he'll likely be 32 years old by the time I do the deal

EDIT: Another team could be Baltimore if they move Schoop in the next few years in my franchise

Erick Aybar, Alexei Ramirez, Brendan Ryan, Brandon Crawford are guys you could realistically get with pieces the Brewers have.

Jimmy Rollins might also make an interesting option if you are contending and Philly isn't.

Also, depending on how well Bogaerts progresses in a year or two, Iglesias from Boston would be a very nice defender for you at SS.

You could, but defense isn't really Dee's strong suit. Neither is hitting really

Too bad Gennett can't play anything besides 2B because I saw an article that said he could become the next Pedroia, so he would fit in Boston well if that's true and I don't think they'd use him as a DH

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much stock in that article. The only really similar thing about them is their size and position.

Pedroia was a much, much, much better minor leaguer with more power, better OBP, and almost never striking out. I'd think the Brewers would be ecstatic if Gennett give them 25% of Pedroia's MLB production.

I'm sure Drew will maintain a healthy wRC+ in all 16 games he plays per year.

You aren't trading Drew AND Iglesias, by the way, only one of the two. He's only had one very good season and an injury risk, Drew, and Rollins is MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH better for a playoff push.

The only way Iglesias is going to be traded is if it's for a somewhat young MLB player or a veteran player such as Cliff Lee. Drew is the more likely candidate, you even mentioned that you may've seen Drew rumors already. One freak injury doesn't automatically make him an injury risk either. He's past it. You really think the Sox would bench a $9.5 million player for another player that isn't much of an upgrade? Rollins has more than one year left on his contract too. What are we going to do with Rollins next year? Postpone Bogaerts even further? The Sox would be back where they started this year. As for Rollins and the playoffs, yeah, he hasn't done much. He would be MUUUUUUUUUUCH better if this was 5-6 years ago.
