Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
After testing out a few teams in franchise mode with budgets on, I've found out that loading up on cheap, B's and A's potential players and trading them for studs is more valuable than Free Agency. Visa Versa, trading your veteran or highly priced guys for multiple A's and B's, regardless of position (I almost always trade for pitching, can't have enough) you can quickly build a winner.
Just started the Twins franchise which I'll play till Knights rosters come out, just made a good trade to dump salary as we're 18 games out.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
You know the "near matching" of trade value is actually a good question, and I think that's the place where human input in this thread can be most valuable. For example, low C = low C is easy enough math to do, but what about in trades with uneven numbers of players, and surely a low-c for mid-c might make sense sometimes. Those gray areas I think is where this feedback is most helpful.
As for your Johan Santana question, I think it would matter who exactly you were going for, then it could be discussed. But, I'm not sure hi C + hi C could get up to hi B even if you add a D as filler. I feel like the scale gets steeper the closer you get to A territory, imo.
And some other ideas for rebuilding teams would be Cubs/Marlins/Twins/Pirates/Mariners/Rockies. Each has their own specific (dis)advantages. If you want to have a franchise hitter to start with, the Marlins (Stanton), Pirates (McCutchen), or Rockies (CarGo) might make sense. King Felix (SEA) would be that guy if you wanted a franchise ace. The Twins and Cubs are kind of in limbo right now but also offer some signature players in Mauer or Castro. And it could come down to which farm system you like best. I feel the Astros obviously give the biggest challenge on all fronts!
I want a team in total disarray the Stros in AL fit the bill perfectly and the Mets and Miami fit it in the NL, but the problem Miami might be a good one too at least I would have a young stud to build around... But I think I'm going Mets... seems really intriguing.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
But since he's not in your game yet anyway, which he won't be until OSFM; if you want to do that deal now, maybe Brett Cecil would do for Wesley Wright? If you use Cecil, you could probably just swap the lefty reliever Perez you don't want with Wright, as they are approximately equal according to the spreadsheet. Luis Perez is a bit less established but had a nice year last year and he comes a bit cheaper than Wright, which would appeal to HOU. What do the Astros need a relatively expensive lefty specialist for this year anyway other than to trade?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Ok Solid B then with a D throw in... Sounds plausible?

Also Carl Crawford is someone that if you include in any trade with LAD, you can take them. I did this
Jhonny Peralta - SS - 75 overall - C - 30 years old
for
Joc Pederson - CF - 72 overall - A - 20 years old
Carl Crawford - LF - 82 overall - B - 31 years old
Hanley Ramirez - SS - 88 overall - B - 29 years oldComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah, sounds good man. You could probably get, imo, mid B + low C for Johan I'd guess depending on where you send him. Best destinations for Johan would be a contending team with deep pockets short by one starter. I just figured a hi B might be stretching it just a tad, though the right team might be willing to do that in the right situation i.e. in contention near the trade deadline. Although you might want to pull the trigger on a deal soon because the charade Santana and the Mets are engaging in right now isn't helping his trade value AT ALL!Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
OK, well Danny Barnes is a pitcher who had a nice showing at high A ball Dunedin for the Jays last year after coming on nicely in A ball in 2011. He's a 23-y/o righty out of Princeton with some nasty strikeout stuff who projects to the pen. He's currently ranked the #19 best prospect in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system according to Jonathan Mayo at mlb.com. So, that may have been a slight overpay anyhow.

Pretty sure he said that opposite of that but give them Ryan Goins and be done with it"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Playing as the Pirates, and looking to acquire one of Oaklands young SP in either AJ Griffin or Tom Millone, since the A's have no problem dealing for more youth.
Could I REALISTICALLY get one of theses guys by avoiding trading Cole or Taillon?
Could Kyle McPherson/Andrew Oliver/Nick Kingham be the central piece of the puzzle, or do I need to think bigger?Last edited by jcabler24; 03-13-2013, 11:31 AM.Comment

I'd think Meyer and Benson are pretty close to what Anderson would be worth, Weeks is kind of a toss up.Comment
