Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm about to hit the trade deadline very shortly with my Pirates who are currently on top of the division standings. I try and play every once and awhile, but after Jeff Locke started at 3-0 I started playing a majority of his starts as well as Gerrit Cole's starts after I called him up for a terrible Wandy Rodriguez. I'm looking for pitching, as this is what my rotation looks like:
Burnett
Cole (took Wandy's spot in rotation too)
McDonald
Liriano
Locke (Leading Cy Young Voting)
I'm looking for another starter, and I'm very interested in moving McDonald or Rodriguez (despite how unrealistic that may be). My friend, who also posted here suggested going after someone like Gavin Floyd or another righty from an AL team that is struggling, which I like the idea of. That leaves me the following teams as a suitable trade partner:
White Sox
Royals
Twins
O's
Blue Jays
A's
Mariners
Astros
Any ideas on who I should target if I'm willing to even part with McDonald? I was looking at Phil Hughes who is a LRP on the 1st place Yankees, but that seems pretty lateral if I move McDonald for him at this point.Comment

Royals - Paulino/Hochevar for a low C prospect
Twins - Worley for McDonald and a high C prospect
Orioles - Tillman/Arrieta for McDonald
A's - Colon for a low C prospect
Mariners - Beavan for a low C prospect
Astros - Harrell and Wesley Wright for McDonald
I think Wandy is a better fit for a contender looking for a veteran lefty with a track record. McDonald will however intrigue the bottom dwellers enough to allow your playoff run to be given a boost. If you can take on the salary, I personally like the White Sox dealFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

What contenders do you have that could be looking for a guy like Wandy?Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Hmm, I like that. It would give Seager even more time to develop for at least 2-3 years I guess. But I'm just worried that when Seager is ready, I won't have anywhere to play both. But for now it's a good deal I think. As far as I can tell its realistic, right? And who else could I get with olt?Comment

Ok, scratch that idea... Just went to find Olt on the Rangers and saw that he had been traded to the Giants for Angel Pagan.Comment

Either way, Lee is a mid A, high B and low B according to the spreadsheet but I guess we can play around with those values a bit since he's been pitching really well for you.
Olt is two Low B's in the sheet. Lefty starter Martin Perez is a mid B and a low B. Add those two together for a full value of Three low B's and one mid B. Compare that to Lee's value and I think that the three low B's equals the mid A value wise and the High B's are even. That löeaves you with another low B (or two high C's) to collect.
That last low B could be Justin Grimm although I don't think he'd also be moved if they're moving Perez. In my opinion, I'd rather opt for the two high C's and go for depth. Go get fireballer Tanner Scheppers as a potential future CP and some 2B depth in Leury Garcia (who's blocked behind Kinsler, Profar, Andrus on the depth chart).
Lee for Olt, Perez, Scheppers and Garcia. You'd have to send some scrub to Texas as well to make the trade engine accept the deals of course but something along the lines of a career minor leaguer in the low C range is totally fine.Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

If you still want to deal with the Rangers, go Cody Buckel, Martin Perez, Scheppers and Garcia then. Would be a pitching heavy package coming back but having plenty of arms is nice!Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

I'm so sorry! Haha... I am really thin with pitching prospects, but I can't find a Garcia on the Rangers. Also, Bogaerts was traded away from Boston (I can't believe I didn't do 30 team Control... Oscar Taveras has been traded 4 times) so I guess that means Rollins could help?Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Ike Davis could be a trade candidate if the Mets thought he wouldn't be worth his growing salary over his arbitration years. A Rubin source on another team projects Davis to earn $6.1MM in his second year of arbitration eligibility this winter, "assuming his production normalizes somewhat the rest of the way." This could be a big if, as Davis has managed only a .509 OPS through 201 PA this season. Davis signed a one-year, $3.125MM deal last winter in his first taste of arb-eligibility.
Probably not enough."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
