I dunno why you're posting about that in the trade thread lol, but the easy solution is send down Loup for a week while working on a trade for Oliver to somewhere like the Angels. If you're missing Loup enough and you need him back, you send down Bonifacio, but you can't get rid of Kawasaki's .340 OBP.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
JP would not only be cheaper, but he would be waaaaaaay more profitable in terms of marketability. Who're the fans (all 8 of them) gonna like, the random kid who hits singles or the Cuban Miami product who hits lots of dingers? It's about the money with the Marlins and that's what JP will get 'em which is why I think it's realistic.
No, they're sucking really, really horribly, I mean even worse than JP lol.
It's not an awful trade as far as realism goes, but I think there are better options.Denver Broncos

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
You make a case that Brantly is gonna be more expensive than Arencibia, bar none, BUT, even if that's true, it doesn't become an issue until 2016 (arbitration eligibility) for Brantly, whereas it's an issue next year for Arencibia. The Marlins, for the last time, will NOT make a trade that brings them someone closer to a reasonable payday. End. Of. Story.
I am actually surprised you have gotten so much support on this, but I feel that has more to do with buddies wanting to give you the A-ok, and end your suffering at the C position, than them actually sitting down and looking at this objectively.
If the Fish deal Brantly it's really not until 2015 at mid-year.
Here are some names for you, where the realism is not in doubt:
-Jesus Montero (what ever happened to that, lol? Probably could've got him with Ackley)
-Michael McKenry
-Brian McCann (sucks that he's injured, he's exactly the lefty bat you need)
-Carlos Corporan (more of a back-up, but bats switch and will come cheap)
-Chris Herrmann (I just got him, and I'm very pleased. If he has anywhere near the defensive ratings in the Show as in 2K13, you'd like him)
-Lou Marson (another defensive oriented catcher, cheaply acquired)
-Tim Federowicz (meh, but probably to be had)
-Steve Clevenger (replacement level, but a decent LHB with no real spot on the Cubs, also can play 3B (!!!))
-Martin Maldonado (already discussed this)
-Tony Cruz (what about Yadi's backup? He probably has learned a trick or two, lol)
-Kurt Suzuki (I second G3no on this one)
-Jeff Mathis (the available Marlins catcher)
-John Buck (meh)
....Not really any outstanding names there, but could be some decent finds. I can't stress enough how unrealistic Brantly would be, even if 10 people green light that for you. I'm also coming to the position that ubernoob has, that Lucroy is unrealistic too. I just figure his extension might as well be minimum wage at only $2-3M per year, it's just a drop in the bucket, and he's so worth it to them.
All of that said, you're the only one playing your 'chise, so whatever makes you happy, bro.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Why would you want Campana? Take it from me, he's not really a baseball player. He's a fast guy who can't get on base. If you're looking for speed, there are better options out there. Rajai Davis, on your own team, Juan Pierre, Nyjer Morgan, Coco Crisp, Gentry, and Jarrod Dyson to name some. Where's Joey Gathright when you need him?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Well, if you are so sure and it's so obvious that Brantly is >>>> Arencibia, then why wouldn't the Marlins see that also?
Because Lugo is the main piece of the deal, not JPA, JPA is a realism aspect.

They would save more money in the long run, which is what I'm getting at!

That's plain bull****.

Oi.
There are better options, you are just set on the idea of Brantly, lol.

Can't catch.
-Michael McKenry
SUCKS.
-Brian McCann (sucks that he's injured, he's exactly the lefty bat you need)
I'll check how much longer he's injured but it could be a while.
-Carlos Corporan (more of a back-up, but bats switch and will come cheap)
Worse than JPA.

Unrealistic, I'd think, they just got him.

Slight improvement but same playstyle.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Going through every team. McCann is due to start rehab in a few days. Mathis is still out with a broken collarbone for 1-2 months. Both Ramos and Suzuki are playing terribly. Only interested in Ramos. Hanigan is at -1.59 BatRuns. Mes is -3.79.
I'm looking for guys who used to catch, not finding anything. My best options are Brandon Inge and Jeff Clement lol.Last edited by AC; 06-23-2013, 04:17 PM."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I will admit I've been looking at him lol. My options at this point are:
Jordan Pacheco
Christian Bethancourt
Brian McCann (playing injured in AA)
(both are horrible and I'd have to keep Arencibia)Hanigan/Mesoraco
Barajas (I could sign him in FA, sigh lol)
Jason Castro
Nothing else unless Russell Martin or Chris Ianetta become realistic somehow. Best I got is converting Brett Lawrie back to catcher loooool.Last edited by AC; 06-23-2013, 05:01 PM."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Well, I'm not trying to give him the "A-ok" just because he's a buddy. I'm unbiased when it comes to trades, and I think there was a solid point put up by AC. Brantly will cost more in the long run. But, whenyou think about it, Lugo is the main piece being sent. J.P. will cost less overall for the Marlins, and that's what they're looking for. They also get a good prospect who is of vital position for the fish. Right now I think AC puts up the more valid point, so I like it.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!
