Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

OKAY GUYS GUESS WHAT I AM REALLY REALLY DUMB FOR REAL

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bobp5OHVsWY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So it turns out AJ Ellis ISN'T INJURED. When I was scrolling through MLB lineups to find someone, I saw Ellis missing, and when I looked through LA's catcher list on the manage roster screen and Tim Federowicz is right above AJ Ellis (I sorted by potential). I saw the DL symbol and thought it was Ellis, BUT IT WASN'T, it was Federowicz who was injured, for whatever reason Ellis is in AAA. I.. apologize for my ridiculous *******ary.

So right now I have a list of options that I will rank in order because *apparently* Brantly isn't realistic.

    Spoiler

So I apologize for my *******ary and I'm looking for the most realistic of all of these, but the only one I could see being unrealistic would be Ramos.

Probably going to go with the Reynolds deal because the only "someone" good at 3B I have is Brett Lawrie. Thanks AC!

I like Pacheco the most. McCann could also be had since his contract's up after this year. McCann, though, you would have to pay a price.

I drew up a few hypothetical trades. I like the Braves one most in terms of realism and fairness.

Brian McCann + Aaron Northcraft/Joey Terdoslavich/Tommy La Stella for Mitch Nay + D.J. Davis/John Stilson

A.J. Ellis for J.P. Arencibia and John Stilson

          Dawel Lugo for Jason Castro

Steve Delabar + Santiago Nessy for Alex Avila

          Mitch Nay for Christian Bethancourt

          John Stilson for Wilson Ramos

          Griffin Murphy for Jordan Pacheco

Dawel Lugo for Ryan Hanigan/Devin Mesoraco

Now what you have to decide is if you would like to acquire a 2B along with a catcher.

Pacheco would be interesting. I'm sure the Rockies would love Lind if they are contending. You could also probably get Rutledge or LeMahieu in a deal. The downside is I really don't think the Rockies would care for Arencibia, considering they have Rosario and Arencibia should at least be a platoon player instead of a straight back up.

McCann is a great option. You could probably also get Dan Uggla in a deal, but obviously you would have to keep Lind (which isn't a bad thing at all).

I think my favorite option would be A.J. Ellis. They have Federowicz which would be a good backup/platoon guy with Arencibia for a year or 2. They also have a decent selection for MIF's (Punto, Mark Ellis, Schumaker).
I think it also falls into line with something the Dodgers would do. Arencibia would bring more excitement for their team and the Dodgers obviously love the big(ger) name players.

I don't need a 2B, I have Dustin Ackley and Emilio Bonifacio playing quite well for me. I like my McCann deal the most still. Don't like Rutledge much.

Heh, Rutledge is an A in my 'chise. The McCann trade sounds good.

Yeah Rutledge is pretty hit or miss (literally) and his fielding has been iffy lately.

I don't see anything wrong with the McCann deal. I think I would like an AJ Ellis deal more though. I don't know why but it just really seems like a deal the Dodgers would do.

But getting McCann is very realistic with Gattis playing well and Bethancourt in the mix. Much more realistic than Brantly or Lucroy and you are still getting a very good catcher.

Is there anything else that could be a factor such as standings/stats?

Braves have been in contention without McCann playing a single game for them. Dodgers are sub .500. Ellis tearing it up in AA. McCann hitting .125 in AA on rehab.

That makes the trade that much better.

Why is Ellis in AA? Rehab? Just sucking?

Yeah, either one is fair game. The good thing about the Dodgers deal would be actually getting rid of Arencibia. But either trade is fine in my opinion.

What exactly would do with JP if you got McCann? Bench role? or spot DH?

I actually meant AAA haha, sorry, but a mix of faulty logic and me not noticing.

Demoted, could call him back up and restore some value before trading him in the offseason.

I'm looking to deal for Alex Rios in my D'backs franchise, I'm 6 games ahead of the Dodgers but their healthy and really making a push. The White Sox are in 4th in the central and 7.5 back and 9th in the wild card 6 back there.

Rios is hitting .245/.291/.412 with 12 hr and 51 rbi

I'm not sure what it would take to get him but I was thinking of sending the either Cody Ross .265/.286/.471 with 8 hr and 26 rbi in 189 ab or Aaron Hill .234/.253/.392 with 9 hr and 28 rbi as they have a need a 2b

                            Thoughts?

Brantly will cost more in the long run. But, whenyou think about it, Lugo is the main piece being sent. J.P. will cost less overall for the Marlins, and that's what they're looking for. They also get a good prospect who is of vital position for the fish. Right now I think AC puts up the more valid point, so I like it.
Well it's not like I expect people to come out and say "yes, I admit it, I was just agreeing with ACMilan99. I barely even looked at it." What I mean is maybe people didn't give it due consideration.

I'm still not persuaded by the "Brantly will cost more in the long run, just believe me" argument. When do the Marlins play longterm? The way I see it they just look for anyone over $2M or about to be next year and deal them for cheap labor.

Not buying that whole argument. Take the guy FURTHER away from arb because he's cheaper...lol

I'm not toooo familiar with Jays prospects, but the last three look like underpays to me.

I'm fine the both the Braves and Dodgers deals, and like I said earlier, I think McCann fits your team nicely.

After that I'd rank the Avila and Betancourt ones. Don't think that's enough for Jason Castro.

I'm 5 games before the all star break, I was thinking those two just in case they do come back and make a run. What would it take in terms of prospects to get him?
