Yeah, I never really get a high K/9 with a SP unless it's Hamels. I'm eager to get rid of Lee because he's quickly regressed to a 93 overall, but at the same time I want to hold onto him to see what the Phils do irl. I want to try to make the trade they make. But if they don't I'll just make my own. I guess I could do a deal involving Olt and Alfaro now, and undo it if the Phillies do a different trade irl?

I've checked the spreadsheet and had a good chuckle, but does anyone think at this point the CWS could trade Sale? I know they just gave him a team friendly contract (and said they wouldn't trade him), but I don't feel with this team and lack of farm system that I am going to be competing anytime soon - especially 2015 after Rios, Peavy, and Dunn are gone (if they aren't before).
I'm only midway through the 2013 season, and plan on using all the CWS real transactions IRL, so I might not even want to trade him if they get any decent prospects in return at the deadline or before. This would occur during the 2014 offseason.
Just curious to know if anyone thinks their (CWS) plans may have shifted since they seem to be entering rebuilding mode, and you do need a decent farm to undergo that process. Otherwise, I have no problems building around him in the rotation. Just curious, please don't flame me for this! But this is possibly the worst farm system I have ever seen/played with, haha.Last edited by Coper3000; 07-07-2013, 11:01 PM.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
What do you guys think about Papelbon to Detroit for Rondon and Avisail Garcia? Not sure if I'm going to propose this yet but it's something I've been thinking about.
On a side note, I can't seem to get an answer for this anywhere else, so I hope this question is ok on this thread. Can a player's potential be bumped twice in a year? Ben Revere moved down to a mid B in my franchise and I was wondering, if I got him hot could he move back to a high B in the same year? Again, sorry if this isn't relevant to the thread.
I think the Tigers would be more than willing to give up those guys for a reliable closer.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
In theory it seems like a good idea to trade Sale for prospects but right now I don't think the Sox would do it. But who knows, things change. Who would have thought at this time last year that players like Upton and Stanton would get traded/shopped? I don't think it's totally unrealistic to trade Sale for some good prospects if Chicago's short term future looks bleak.
And in both Upton and Stanton's cases there are extenuating circumstances. Neither one got on well with management. Upton was already making decent coin, and the Snakes had a ton of outfielders. And the Marlins do what the Marlins do. I really don't see the Upton and/or Stanton cases as similar.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I think Rondon and Garcia for Papelbon is fair. Garcia doesn't have a spot in the Tigers future OF with Dirks, Jackson, and Castellanos and his power numbers have been terrible in the majors. The Tigers were high on him last year but after his poor hitting this year I think he's expendable as he looks like more of a 4th outfielder. Rondon throws really hard - in the dirt. And hitters tee up his fastball when he throws it for strikes. imo there's no way he'll ever be a major league closer.

Yeah, I was thinking that the Tigers would be willing to overpay for a veteran closer in order to get a World Series ring. They strike me as a major win now team, and Papelbon would help them win now, whereas Garcia and rondon might not even help them win in the future.Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Hmm, I think Dirks would be a nice piece in RF once I let Delmon Young walk at the end of the year. I guess it kind of depends on whether Delmon can start to get it going. I think that's a nice trade that I'll think about until the deadline. Thanks! Also, I've been meaning to ask, have you made any trades in your Phillies franchise yet?Comment

Been feeling them out a bit for some spring games (and the Marlins...and the Brewers) and I'm having a hard time deciding on which team to continue with. I did however make one trade to answer your question - felt like system overload with the relievers so I sent Chad Durbin to the White Sox for Brent MorelFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Just looking for a little feedback here guys ....
I play 30 team control and try to keep trades (not necessarily realistic, I don't mind a Derek Jeter getting traded) fair, meaning they have some type of role for each team.
Here is where the Braves stand at the moment:
Juan Francisco: Began the season platooning with Chris Johnson, and was the designated 3rd baseman against righties (Johnson started against lefties). 3 weeks into the season, Francisco was batting .305 with 2 homers and 6 RBI, then he promptly went on the DL for 15 days. C. Johnson was batting .105 with 0 hr, and 0 rbi. With 3 days remaining on DL for Francisco, Johnson is now batting .265. He is on a tear and has earned the starting 3b job. BJ and Justin Upton are both performing terribly, striking out a ton and both hitting in the low .100's. I have decided that J. Schaffer (hitting over .300 and .400+ OBP in AAA) deserves a shot to hit lead off with the big club and replace BJ in lineup. This is a MOM franchise.
So the question is .... 2nd week of the 2nd month of the 2013 season ..
A) your a team not predicted to make playoffs, but Francisco (I think C potential, not looking @ game) would be a a step up for you and a quality bridge to a brighter future in your rebuilding process. He comes cheap @ 250k 1 yr, so what would you give up (looking for potential)
B) Playoff caliber team who is hit with injuries, and Francisco could serve as a stop gate for a month or two while everyone heals. (potential)
Just want some outside opinions, sometimes I am to bias when making these trades without outside (non-bias) help. I don't need a team name or players names, just potential of player's that you might involve this trade. I feel like Juan could serve a role for some team's instead of being a minor league journeyman.
Thanks in advance.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks for the feedback on Sale from everyone. He's pitching lights-out in my Franchise, and I would command a pretty good haul in return. Like I said, I plan on mimicking all the CWS moves in real life, so maybe they get a couple pieces back from the DL (and some start to pick it up) and they can swap them out for some decent prospects. It was just a thought that has been swirling around in the back of my mind.Comment
