Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Haven't completed a full season in 3 years and that took about 4 months (to play every game). This will be a great feature for those of use looking to play at least 100+ games a season. I'm sure it will add a little more offense to the game as well.
Do we know if the pitch counts favor the batter the deeper a pitcher goes into a game? I.e., 0-1, 1-1 are generated more often in the first 3-4 innings and 2-1, 2-0 counts in later innings? Or does this fall under the umbrella of "random?"Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Once again, LOVE the theory behind the new feature, but it occurred to me that a rare 0-0 count would be cool, because I like to do a little "first pitch swinging" under a few circumstances:
1) CPU Pitcher has given up a walk or two and MAY groove the first one in the sweet spot to try and get ahead or out of fatigue / frustration from high pitch count inning
2) CPU Relief pitcher comes in with a man on third / a rally brewing and HAS to throw a strike
3) NONE of my hitters has jumped on a first pitch all game, so I do that to "scramble" my tendencies
4) Bunting...nobody is trying to nibble during an NL pitcher's AB...
Nitpicking, but if there was a way to tie some of this sort of "situational" first pitch strike throwing into the mix at some point in the future, it could really "complete" the fine details this game is known for...
The key would be to not have every 0-0 count automatically mean that a first pitch strike is coming...
Anyway, I'm sure they've thought about all this stuff and arrived at what we'll have...but, hey...I likes to "share"...
We've all seen some memorable results of someone just stepping into the box / taking a first pitch hack and making something HAPPEN...
Lastly, I wonder how this will affect the slider that influences first pitch strike percentage (can't recall exact wording of that one)

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
No....it will be "random" with the coded sequences as Ramone spoke about(the MLB average counts) but it is not always the end of the at bat in one regards or the other.
For instance you can have a 1-2 count and take the pitch for a ball....foul one off....etc. It is not always the end of play or AB.

Nice, so it's not just a one-pitch mode. Cool.
Not sure how much faster it would make my games since I like to grind ABs anyway so usually see lots of pitches, but at least it won't eliminate the chance to do that and shaves a few pitches off the earlier parts of the AB.
I do hope, like nomo said, that it will be "Random" while accounting for player abilities as well. If Dunn is up, more likely for 2-2/3-2 type counts (unless the pitcher has good control), or 3-1, 3-0, if the pitcher has poor control.
Basically what he said in his post - which I think would help with what King said in his as well with some guys being free swingers - so low DIS should impact that and start with more lower counts, etc.
In any rate, great feature and nice option to have. This might be the first year I get back-to-back The Show versions to try this and get in on the carryover saves."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
40 is close to what I usually get (40-60 unless it's a slugfest), but 20...a series in an hour without simming?
Heck, I could almost "football it" and play a week at a time."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

I take way too many pitches for 15-20mins to happen. Now 15-20mins going against David Price...possible...possible!Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
I looked up the feature's description on the game's site and it says that if your games normally take an hour, this feature would make those games take about 30 minutes or so...
Roughly "half"...
So:
Since mine seem to play out in (pretty much) "real time" then it's going to drop that time from 2.5 hours or so to around 90 minutes...
I swear, I have NO idea how anyone gets a game finished in under an hour before this feature's existence...
Do you guys enable that "Fast Play" option and / or skip the cut scenes?
I don't AND I take about the same amount of time you see IRL to size up the pitcher (and situation) on offence AND pitch at about the same pace as the average MLB player...which is obviously, pretty darn SLOW!
Apologies for getting a bit "off topic", but I've been really curious about these game times I've seen written about here...
Thanks!Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
I think generated counts will become as polarizing as the designated hitter. I am not sold on using GC's as I have too much time on my hands but I am still glad for ALL new features SCEA can in corporate.Michigan ManComment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
To be fair though, for people like me who, when on offense, swing pretty much everything, this really won't speed up that part of the game too much, since a lot of my at-bats were ending after 1 or 2 pitches anyway.
My biggest hope is that it will allow me to draw more walks, and that even though I'll be swinging at "first pitch" most of the time, there will be enough built in pitches to actually tire the opposing starter by the 7th inning. I was constantly allowing opposing pitchers to throw complete game, 70 pitch outings against me because of my lack of patience to work a count. Now at least I can have the same mentality but they would more likely approach 70 pitches by the 6th or 7th innings instead.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
I didn't see this asked or answered anywhere. Will Quick Counts be on both the PS4 and the PS3 Versions? Or is it only a PS4 feature?Comment
