    Its applied to both.

          my main expectations would just be that the counts are more strategic and less random. what i mean by that is that the ratings and circumstances for the pitcher along with the batter play into what the count will be.

            Was there a design reason for not allowing the occasional 0-0 count with GPC's?

            I get that in a way in undermines its purpose; always having an at bat "started," but first pitch balls-put-in-play are a natural part of baseball.

            As are 0-0 beanballs, etc.

            Obviously in the latter, the player would never "see" the at bat so I get it there, but I was just curious as to why in general 0-0 at bats won't occasionally happen? I'm sure there's a good reason for it, but I was just wondering.

              You answered your own question, but I'll elaborate a little further. The original design for Quick Counts was beholden to three pillars.

              1. Cut the game times in half
              2. Fun factor, regardless of what we did it had to be fun
              3. Simulation stats, regardless of what we did the box score needed to look like the average MLB game.

              So everything and anything that didn't fit into those three pillars was removed from the feature. The original prototype was just that a completely random pitch count. However that didn't cut down on the game times at all so it had to go. The feature continued to evolve from there until we had something that was fun, fast, and still resembled a normal game in terms of statistics.

                For the reasons I detailed earlier, this feature is a "(Multi Season) Franchise Saver" for my play style...

                Kudos to The Show team, for thinking of a way to implement this, that doesn't sacrifice the "sim" element to any great degree...

                To nitpick, I MAY like the option (in the future) to use it for the first 7 innings or so (up to the stretch, perhaps) and then have it go off for the most critical part of the game...

                It would be sort of like the way "accelerated clock" is implemented in console football games...in the last two minutes of each half, it goes away...

                That being said, I'm thrilled with it "as is"...

                  This combined with saves carrying over guarantee that a lot of us will finally get to play long enough to see some of our prospects retire.

                          I love GPC's. Would love to use it in online league play to create more walks, but unfortunately not too many would be on board with that lol. Oh well, offline franchise should be more interesting.
