Most people say don't swing on a 3-0 count. Is there a strategy to other counts? On an 0-2 count use contact swing?

Depends honestly...

If it is 0-2 with an important run on 3rd with less than 2 outs...then yeah I'd use contact.

If no one is on I'd still use power/normal, unless the guy had no power then I'd just use normal.

I never swing 3-0 unless the GW run is in scoring position or something.

It is really hard to lay off some of those 3-0 pitches. Sometimes those will be the best pitches you see all game. If it is early in the game I am going to be on that 3-0 pitch like a fat kid on a doughnut.

I am just not a believer unless it is my 3/4 hitter with RISP. I'd rather make the pitcher work early on.

Generally, just try to get ahead in the count...That's it bottom line. You'll see pitches just as good on 2-1 as you would see on 3-1, 3-0. This is the reason why its so important to train yourself to work counts and gauge the break of a pitchers breaking ball within the first few innings.

Everyone is different in regards to camera angles but for me, using a zoomed back camera allows the ball to travel deeper and let me pick up on its break. I think its one of the aides that people forget to use when they get frustrated with picking up pitches.

The more I think about quick counts the more I'm starting to feel I might not like using them. Since not all counts are represented it means that I would never be able to hit a first pitch with quick counts on. Its something that occurs in actual baseball so I would miss it. It would be awesome if they offered some options with quick counts. Even just a fast play and full version, wherein the full version has all counts, but considering the balance work that would need to be done I don't expect anything like that going forward. I guess I'll have to sacrifice hitting an 0-0 meatball for faster games. I hope I do enjoy using them since I often fast forward games to get through them.

I honestly don't ever see myself using quick counts. I really don't care if it is in or not. Just my opinion.

Lets not forget about the other side of generated pitch counts, that being the pitching side of it. I am looking forward to the challenge of pitching from behind in the count more often due to generated pitches.

I nibble them corners so much I have never had an issue with throwing too few pitches and not handing out a lot of BB's.

Not me, in an effort to make games go faster, I generally pitch to contact. Won't be an issue this year.

True.

I think Blzer brought up my biggest concern: the sacrifice bunt.

Then again, even with 0-0 counts in there, there's no guarantee you'd actually get the count so you could attempt to sacrifice effectively.

This feature looks really cool and it has been requested for years. Now i am not one to play with generated counts. I love baseball with a passion and the dual...the mind game, the tension of every pitch is what I love so much about the best sport in the world.

However.....if I am in a pinch for time and want to get in a quick game....no doubt I will toggle this on and play a 20-30 minute game.

I apologize in advance if this has already been answered, but I'm wondering if the generated count is exclusively for when you're batting or will it also be in play when you're on the mound? For example, as a pitcher, will you begin at-bats three pitches deep as well?

Yea I don't know how much or how often I will use it if at all but I love the option being in there.

There have been many times when the night is starting to get late that I've wanted to play one more game but just couldn't stay up another hour and half and to expidite seasons I may try playing with it in the third game of a series.

I agree that I wish 0-0 was a possibility but I understand why they are leaving that out and am okay with it.

Just love the option.
