Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
If the system is random enough I don't really see an issue. I agree not for ranked games just so people don't perceive it as the issue. But in the end it wouldn't really put the game out of balance, unless its not that random and patterns arise. If someone wants to use it in a non-ranked game, give them the option. Games take a while, especially if you get matched with someone who practice swings every pitch, or just takes a while to do things in general. If I can challenge a friend and cut game time down I might do just that.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
This sounds awful to me and I have virtually no interest in this feature...
Now having said that, it's actually an example that allows me to thank the developers of The Show. In a climate where developers are seemingly streamlining their games and creating a universal experience, the Show continues to add new features, while keeping the existing options, and allowing the player (consumer) to tailor the game to their needs and desires.
I hate the idea. But I'm also someone that doesn't mind a game taking 45 min to an hour, has gotten sim/realistic results and actually has finished multiple 162 game seasons in a given Franchise....
It doesn't appeal to me, but it could create accessibility to someone else and allow them to enjoy the game as much as I have. So thank you SCEA for allowing all these different playstyles and varied expectations and opinion to co-exist within the same great title.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
I normally avoid online like the plague, because I don't like how I am forced to "keep up"
Sitting through a 1-2 hour game without being able to pause and take breaks to check on other things in my house... that's not doable for me. I am a busy man. There are times where a 90 minute game actually takes up 2-3 hours because I had to pause and run to the store or make something to eat, or defrost/marinate whatever meat/chicken I am cooking, or even do some homework before its due etc.. etc... etc...
Online you don't have that freedom. You HAVE to play at a decent speed, or else you simply get disconnected on (or time out).
So Generated Pitch Counts (what is The Show calling them again?) in online play is nothing but positive, in my opinion.Comment

It speeds up the game? I hadn't thought about it before, but knowing GPC is available in online games is probably going to be the thing that gets me to actually play online games.

Online games tend to be actually quick with Fast Play presentation. My game rarely extend over an hour. Usually around 45 mins for a full 9 inning game, I think...
That's partially because HUM players tend not to take a lot of pitches (though I do... so I'm willing to guess other games are even shorter), so it speeds up games already. Plus many guys quit early.
I'm curious how people would use generated counts online. I probably won't use it as my preference but it may actually be a good option if more people go online because of it.Comment

GPC is the first option we will ever have that speeds up the game without "rushing" the game.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Isn't it a contradiction to say you take a lot of pitches and you like to play with broadcast, but yet GPC is something that will attract you to online? I guess I am missing that. GPC is there to speed up the game and work the count for you. Using it online takes the entire idea of "working the count", "showing patience", and "possessing a good eye" out of the picture.
Anyways I think GPC for online leagues/franchises wouldn't be a bad idea for certain leagues. As long as it is an option then I don't see how it affects anyone.Comment

It's because online he can't pause whenever he wants. He has to play straight through.
In his home, against the CPU, he can take a break to run to the store, cook dinner, etc and it affects no one. That's not the case online. He doesn't have time to sit through an hour long game without breaks.

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
On 0-2 counts generally I'm looking for something off the plate with breaking balls and/or fastballs. If they blow something by me, I tip my hat but generally the computer doesn't come right at you on 0-2 from my experience...They'll throw you junk and want you to chase. They sometimes get crafty and work the corners on 0-2 and depending on the ump that night you can either have night where you stay in there or a night where hes putting up 10+K's.
Teaching yourself to take pitches is some of the most rewarding feats in gaming period.Comment
