I wouldn't hold out hope for there being another quick options introduced. We already pro-prototyped the mode with all the counts present. It didn't work, so we moved on going backwards would be redundant and a waste of resources.

It didn't work for you guys but it would work for me and others. My opinion but I digress.

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Hi, I worked on this feature. You'll either love it or hate it. The question is what percent of people love it and end up using it. If it's a high number, we can easily justify more alternative settings and further revisions. If it's a low number, we'll probably work on bringing you other features instead. This is all my own opinion and I can't speak for anyone else.
Based on our experience with testing 3 versions, it wasn't an option from a time or design point of view to offer multiple settings on the first release. It was important to produce one best version and make it work the best it could. The alternative versions weren't satisfactory and spending time on them would have ruined or cancelled the one version we developed. I know this fact because the one version is still being worked on to the last minute, and the other versions required a lot more work to resolve.
I'm a big proponent of releasing one good feature rather than several mediocre ones in general. One big reason is that after a month of game release we can gather all feedback and data on usage, and that means that your opinion is counted. Isn't that kind of reality check essential? Without that, we'd just be making too many assumptions and it would be a disservice to you to just offer multiple choices and make you the beta testers.
There are trade-offs with every method of implementing this feature. But the great news is unlike some features, only people who like this will end up using it. Imagine if this could always be the case!Last edited by Brian SCEA; 02-24-2014, 03:57 PM.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
I'll never use this feature, surprised they would put this in actually, since The Show prides themselves on realism. Oh well I guess it's nice for those who want it, but for me a baseball game needs to be long! I like that about it, I enjoy playing a full game and seeing how poised I am to play well the entire game.
Anyway, I just wish they would of focused on some other feature.Comment

That's good to hear and I respect that you all wanted to ensure the feature worked before considering alternatives.
I'm definitely in the group that will be using it and do hope many will share in my joy in it to encourage further implementation.

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
As much as I like all the little things that this series does to mimic real MLB Baseball after a few two hour plus games Im fried as its just too intense at times and for my old eyes too
So Im really looking forward to cutting to the chase and I will see each pre count as a special pitcher /batter challenge without all the build up that Im kinda soured on so this is gonna be a great option for me and I just cant wait to see how it unfolds AI wise as its really sounds like they put alot of work into itFinally Roster share in NHL 22 ! Dreams do come true ! To Garryowen and Glory boys !Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
I understand this is the first year and it's already February bla bla bla. Just a random idea that popped into my head for future years or whenever you guys go about working out the kinks.
What about just a "exclude pitchers provision? Instead of compromising the entire mode with "unwanted" counts just to help with the sac bunt thing... how about giving us an option to simply abstain from having counts generated during any at-bat for the #9 hitter, during NL play? Or a button/menu option to "not generate a count for the next batter," that you could manually select mid-game, say, when the #8 hitter was at the plate.
Seems like it would be easier than more "count balancing", and it would not make anyone unhappy, or compromise the fundamental goals and ideals of Generated Counts.
And it helps with the sac bunt thing.Last edited by Bobhead; 02-24-2014, 09:52 PM.Comment

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
I'm not all that concerned about it. But I do like that it work while both Pitching and Batting.
I get really impatient sometimes when I'm in a rush to get a quick game in and it results in the opposing pitcher having a very low pitch count late in the game. At least this way when I'm in a rush I can turn this option on.Texas A&M Aggies

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts
Well that's only your opinion. As for realism? Sure you don't see every pitch but what it might do for some people especially as a pitcher it will give more realistic pitch counts and totals. I'm willing to bet that most people probably have 10:1 strike to ball ratios. Also very few walks allowed as well. Hardly realistic. Now with more balls forced into counts you'll see a change I would think.... This is where I might use the feature. I won't be using it while I'm hitting though. I like full control.Comment

I think this feature in a way does add to the realism. I think it will provide realistic counts that some players might not get to bc they are free swingers or get in a rut in just try to hit that first pitch fastball.
I understand why some people people dont want or will not use the feature, but I like the fact that it makes you have to strategize your at-bats a little differently than normal and I think thats a fresh and welcome addition to most of us players.
But as always with SCEA, its an option that can be turned on/off, so if anyone hates it or gets tired of it, all you have to do is toggle it off. In my book, its just another great feature implemented into an already awesome game.Comment
