Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Just to give you some perspective, the Mariners #1 pitching prospect, and #1 prospect in the whole organization, was in the minors for 4 years before this season. He's injured right now but when he comes back he should finally take his permanent place in the rotation.
Obviously it won't take you 4 years in the video game, but it's just a hair over 1 season and you're crying BS and saying you're "not going to take this garbage" lol.
I was called up and put in the MLB rotation. The guy I replaced went to the bullpen and the guy he replaced went to AAA (where he still is). So the move was obviously performance related and had nothing to do with the guy who was injured who ended up taking my spot. A move like that never happens in real baseball. It just doesn't make sense.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
i went to JUCO for a couple year and was drafted number 2 overall by the marlins. managed to get promoted to AAA after hitting 360 with 6 homers in my first 80 at bats. in AAA I hit 340 with 5 homers in 130 at bats before i was promoted as a july call up to the majors in my first season. i am currently about a month from the end of the season and i am only hitting around 250 with 6 homers and 28 rbi's. but somehow i have managed still to be in 3rd place running for rookie of the year. its been fun, but it gets frustrating how streaky of a hitter i am. will go on 0 for 20 streak then get 6 hit in the next 10 at bats or so before going into a slump again. but right now i am a 74 overall rating with a potential at only 20 years old. so cant complain to much i guess.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Got a quick question or advice needed here. I'm playing a high glove, high speed SS in the Dodgers AA club. Its currently middle of May and in terms of ratings I am getting "exceeding expectations" and my adjusted ovr is about 73. Am crushing it BA wise and my fielding avg is .990+. What do I have to do to get a call up? Secondly, I realize the Dodgers have Hanley Ramirez and I seriously doubt if i'll replace him on there. BUt what can i possibly do to get up to the MLB level? I've set my seconday position as outfield, but have only played SS (which I am fine with). I just want to figure out how to move up to AAA level and then the big leagues. Should I request to play a different position? I figured outfield would be a great secondary due to my speed, and 70 arm (which i assume is adequate but not outstanding). Should I select infield as a secondary position? 2nd base? And I realize the Dodgers are stacked, but I also am 100% committed to staying with the team, so I am not going to ask for a trade. Thanks in advance.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
At the risk of sounding dumb, I have played RTTS for years and still don't know what 'Pitch Tip-off' is for while I'm fielding.
Does anyone know?Last edited by Garrett67; 04-07-2014, 08:24 PM.Gamertags

Same here. I make contact way to early and as the count moves out of my favor I have a tendency to swing at a lot of balls. Working on that but its tough.Comment

Offspeed tend to be weakly hit and pulled more so sometimes I'll take a step in and to my right.
It's just all little influential stuff. Nothing hard set.

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I figured it was something like that but at the same time, it seems more random than anything. I always keyed on the time aspect of it but again, just seems random. I always play the outfield, so perhaps I don't notice it as much. Although, I did get a fastball tip and the ball was only barely blooped to the second baseman.
Not a big deal, was just curious. I'd rather it not be there to be honest. I don't think it can be turned off.Gamertags

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
After making a pitcher in for 5 out of 6 years from 07-12, I did something radical and made a hitter of the second year in a row. Like many, I've struggled with hitting. Even when I've done well, I've still had a lot of trouble with pitch recognition. And for the first 50 pas or so, this year was no different. I had 2 walks in those 50 PAs and that was par for the course with me. But something finally just clicked and in my last 100 PAs or so, I've gotten 9 walks. And I don't feel as though it's a fluke because I'm seeing the ball much better. I'm still getting fooled on occasion by a ball that I think is going to curve but stays straight and vice versa, but I don't feel as though I'm blindly swinging anymore.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
got drafted by the Cubs as an 18 year old SP, planning on building a very fast fastball, and just good control with my other pitches... should be interestingLast edited by capergamer90; 04-08-2014, 09:48 PM.Comment
