    2015 All-Star Break Update (2nd Season)

Stanley Sutton has now spent 38 games starting at 3rd base for the Mariners and you can't say that it has been easy. The increase in off speed pitches and pitchers with better control have really taken their toll. This is especially true against RHP. However, there has been zero drop in power, which is a surprise given how much Safeco field hates giving up the long ball. The current season line at the All-Star break is .239 BA/10 HR/28 RBI over the course of 155 AB. If I want to make a run at the ROY I really need to bring up the batting average in a big way. If I do that, the power numbers should stay the same or improve, which will blow away the other contenders.

Also, to hell with the low breaking balls away in the zone.

      Update #2: CF Pakari Pogba
      - Update #1

I finished season 2 in AAA and put together a nice season after a rough start: .306 avg - 12 hr - 51 rbi - 50 steals (26 dbls and 9 trips). No Futures Game and no playoffs, either.

In the off season I was low balled by the Phillies with a 1 year 45,000 contract. I got them up to 55,000. However, I was added to the 40-man roster and was given an invite to Spring Training. I knew it was now or never and I had to take this shot to get into the majors (Phillies were the worst team the last season, only 48 wins and they look to be putrid once again).

Played my balls off in spring training and made the Phillies as a bench player with my career perspective now as "Young Talent" and a "D" potential at age 20.

I figured my training points would be very limited because I would be just pinch hitting, so I decided to change my position to RF because Revere was blocking me at CF. However, for all of April I did not get the RF job and I decided that had I not won the job by June 1 I'd request a trade where hopefully I could go back to AAA to get more training point. Wouldn't you know, around May 29th I got the full time job. My 1st at bat was against Matt Cain in the 8th inning. He struck me out on 9 pitches, but the ball went by Posey and then he made a throwing error so I wound up on 2nd base and ended up being the winning run. My 1st 3 hits were all triples and hit my 1st home run off of Daniel Hudson.

It's the start of June and I'm sitting at: .228 avg - 3 hr - 7 rbi - 18 sb w/ 1dbl and 5 trips. Hope now that I'm getting more ab's I can get my horrible avg up.

Congrats on grinding your way into a starting job. Right now the Mariners that I play for are fighting to stay out of the cellar with the Astros. As for the batting average, I'm finding it much harder to escape in the majors than in AA or even AAA. It's like my batter has no idea where the ball is going and as he gets more tired or loses confidence the coverage area gets smaller and smaller. This is what I see using the timing batting anyway.

What difficulty setting are most people using? The Dynamic options seems interesting. I also read on page 6 that the game moves you up and down levels based if you move from AA/AAA/MLB. I usually play All star, but I'm concerned that if I start my setting there, whenI get promoted to AAA and MLB, the game will play on HOF or Legend.

Are the contracts better this year?

Anyone simmed to year 7 yet to see what it's like to hit free agency?

I am loving RTTS , this is the best one yet
Probably a bit unfortunate you were traded away from the Marlins because in my RTTS in 2015 they are crushing in their division. xD They're 26 - 8 leading their league by 7 games, wish I were on the Marlins right now (partly because it's my team) with how good their doing. But the O's (the team I'm on in RTTS) aren't doing bad either this season. xD

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Was promoted to the Cardinals AAA affiliate because of an injury and spent about a month there before requesting a trade. The reason I requested a trade is because the stadium used for the Cardinals AAA team is so difficult to hit in. It's always a bright sky with mountains and no batter's eye whatsoever. I literally have to stand in front of my TV to even see the ball. It blends in way too much with the background.

To my surprise I was traded to the one team I hoped I'd get dealt to. The Tampa Bay Rays. I was traded for Chris Archer. Can't wait to get going in AAA for them. I was traded a day after requesting it. My player is a left fielder and I wouldn't exactly say Matt Joyce and David DeJesus are the type of players who will keep me blocked from that MLB left field job for long.

Update #3 - SS, Chad Abercrombie

So it finally happened. Midway through May, I was finally called up to Triple-A. I've developed into a decent player with an overall rating of 74. I'm focused on getting my batting attributes leveled out before focusing on my fielding/baserunning.

I was on a bit of a cold spell during my last few AA games, but that changed as soon as I got called up. In my first game, I went 3 for 4, an RBI, hitting a triple, and stealing a base. What a great welcome to AAA. It's only been 5 games, but so far my stats read: .400, 3 RBIs, 4 SBs, 2 BB. Not bad so far. Oh, did I mention that I'm the starter? Hell yeah! I'm actually the highest rated shortstop in my whole organization (thanks Marlins for sucking!). Interesting RTTS.

                  The Plan:

I'm currently trying to level out my batting attributes before moving on to fielding/baserunning. So far, my attributes are:

                  Contact vs R: 50
                  Contact vs L: 50
                  Power vs R: 51
                  Power vs L: 44
                  Plate Vision: 70

After I get the power vs L up to 50, I'm going to attack my fielding and reaction attributes aggressively. Fielding is currently at 60, but I'm going to want it to at least a 70. Reaction is at 64, so I'm going to want that up to a 70 as well. I think I'll work on the reaction first. My fielding's pretty damn good, actually. My shortstop doesn't seem to have any problems.

His arm is pretty decent, both strength and accuracy sitting at 75. Might bump those up to 80 as soon as I handle the fielding and reaction.

Durability is at 58, but that worries me a lot. My first season got cut short a handful of games in thanks to an injury and I would HATE for that to happen.

But hey, we've made it to AAA. Let's try and get called up to the big leagues this September!

This has been a part of RTTS for years, as you move up the difficulty increases because the players are better, which is exactly how it should be. It still takes into a account your difficulty setting ( beginner and dynamic difficulty negate this jump in difficulty from AA to AAA to MLB however) and sliders, so for instance if you played on rookie and shot the sliders all the way up (contact, power, timing, solid hits etc) you could just run rough shot through all the leagues. Which is what I usually do on my first RTTS character for fun, I do not recommend this if you are looking for realism or if you can't bounce back into a higher difficulty later on. :P

With the default difficulty settings AAA is where you're on All-Star (Or whatever your selected difficulty is). AA is a level below and MLB is a level above. If you want to avoid this dynamic difficultly completely ignores that part of RTTS. As soon as I saw that I switched.

Yeah, they should really add some kind of batter's eye to that stadium. The only time you can see anything there is when it's actually dark out. Sorry, but I'm not throwing away 2-3 at-bats before it gets dark to have only one at-bat where I can see the ball.

I'll have a happier RTTS playing for the Rays anyway. I love playing in Tropicana Field which I know not many people say. Haha.

Has anyone noticed that, as a switch hitter, you happen to hit better against a certain handed pitcher despite what your attributes might say?

I'm 38 games into my career, currently in AAA (called up after one game at AA thanks to an injury), and despite spending more training points on attributes against right handers, I'm hitting almost 100 points higher against lefties than I am against righties, .356 vs .257. Could be I just do a much better job against lefties and/or I've faced more right handers, but that's quite a split. Made me wonder if things might be reversed, or if the attributes list is actually as a left/right handed batter and not vs the respective pitching hand.

That question aside, I'm having a blast with RTTS so far. Never really enjoyed it in previous games, but not having to deal with the various goals makes things much more enjoyable.
