Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Done the showcase a few times, seems your potential is only based on how you perform in the showcase, and not your rating. So long as you have Good ABs (work the count, or make solid contact, etc) a majority of the time, hit at least .250-.300 and don't make any errors or bad base running, your potential increases. I was able to get an A rating and projected early 1st round, drafted as high as 3rd overall to the white sox. But it makes no difference at all, you get the same contract and spot on the team wherever you're drafted, so if you have a preference just select your team. Losing up to 4 years for just 600 points seems silly.
Also, I don't like how you have to actually spend training points on everything individually, rather than years past where you'd spend them on one attribute, and it would add a little to a secondary attribute.
I was a bit wary about the training points change as well, but it is better even though the pricing of upgrades get a bit difficult to manage. One small gripe I do have is the when stats are about to regress you get a yellow down symbol to state it will regress soon, probably within a week of it showing up. Imagine the problems you can come into with training points later on with regressing stats. xDComment

Understandable, I do that to an extent, but what I liked about it was not having to waste too many points maintaining everything individually, when I could just drop 40 points into one of the base running stats to maintain all it's related stats.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Yeah, I was like "really?" when I was drafted by the O's because I've never been drafted by them (nor offered a contract or traded to) before in any previous years RTTS. It's nice to see they are taking into account their needs.
IN the RTTS blog they stated potential is based on your performance and changes dynamically throughout your career. The showcase just give you your initial potential. I didn't choose to go back to school either, I like the young phenom approach too much. xD
I just don't see why people would waste that much of their career, especially now that you can carry over to next year's game. I plan on making a save for each of my RTTS players after their first MLB year to carry on to next years game.
Also, has anyone been able to manually edit injuries in RTTS? I have it set to Manual in RTTS, and I only have one profile, and it's set there too, but in RTTS I can't edit any injuries, that feature was useful for avoiding trades.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Yeah, I haven't played much of any of my players careers yet, but it doesn't seem like you're given anything for going high in the first round though. I was hoping maybe they'd assign me to Triple-A faster. Nope, still starts them in Double-A.

Also, you do not need to repeat the Showcase in order to get drafted in the first round. It is certainly possible to to play well enough in your first Showcase year and go in the first round. Thanks for playing!Comment

Is it not where it was last year? In the screen where you allocate training points, it would say "500 points: add a 4th pitch" or something like that. Down below all the other training options.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
The whole screen is completely different now because of the much better system of applying points directly. I seems like under the pitching tab it just ends right after the break of you third pitch no option afterwords.
Edit: Here's the end of the tab. (Yes I'm aware my guys name is dumb I'm terrible at making good names)
Hmm and if you click L1 and R1 what are the other tabs?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I'm doing an 18 year old, power hitting third baseman. My showcase went pretty well and included a grand slam! I was drafted 21st overall by Washington with a B potential
Currently I'm in the middle of May of my first year and am starting in AA Harrisburg.

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
You won't be assigned to Triple-A right away for doing well in the Showcase and getting drafted in the first round, but having an A potential player will certainly increase your chances of getting called up sooner than if you were a C potential. Players with A potentials are on the "fast track" to the Majors, assuming they play well and they're not stuck behind an all-star caliber player at their position.
Also, you do not need to repeat the Showcase in order to get drafted in the first round. It is certainly possible to to play well enough in your first Showcase year and go in the first round. Thanks for playing!
With all things considered equal (ratings, the exact same performance in the showcase), would a catcher, shorstop, centerfielder or 2B get drafted over a corner infielder or corner outfielder?Comment

I'm pretty sure TRIANGLE will add a new pitch for your guy. The only reason I don't know for sure is because I'm not at the office anymore and can't look, but I think that's it. You also have the ability to remove a pitch if you want to.

Thanks for everything you guys do, RTTS is definitely less frustrating now.
Edit: Found manning the outfield to be frustrating, so I decided to start my position player over as a slick fielding ultra-fast SS and did well in the showcase, got drafted by the Angles in the 1st round as I think a B+ potential. You probably have to be an A to get in the top 10.Last edited by KMRblue1027; 04-02-2014, 11:02 PM.PSN: KMRBlue1027
