Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I made a defense heavy second baseman, I couldn't do anything in the showcase
was never drafted higher than 6th round. I ended up going to the giants
in the 7th round after 4 years in school. First homerun in AA was a grandslam got the silent treatment from the bench was awesome..
Im now in AAA rated 68 in june I'm hoping for a Sept call up.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I tested a few RTTS's to see what kind of overall ratings you would get by choosing some of the top guys and here are a few results.
Mike Trout - 51 overall
Contact was in the 20's, Power in the 30's, Speed was 90 & fielding ranged from high 30's to high 40's
Miguel Cabrera - 50 overall
Contact in the 40's, Power in the 40's
Dustin Pedroia - 57 overall first creation, 56 overall second creation after changing height to 6'2 and adding second position SS
Contact was in the 40's, Power in the 20's & fielding was in the mid 40's to low 50's
Buster Posey - 57 overall first creation, 58 overall after changing second position to OF
Contact was in the 40's, Power in the mid 30's and fielding in the mid 40's to 50's
These were the main guys that I really got a good look at. I did try some other guys like Longoria, Cano, Harper, Cargo, Pujols, Votto, McCutchen but surprisingly they were all lower overalls then the above mentioned names. So, so far it seems that Buster Posey or at least for me is the best overall player to start out with but the downfall being you will have to start out as a catcher.
I compared those ratings to the ratings of just creating a player and did not notice huge differences just starting out.
When I initially heard that you would be able to model yourself after an MLB player I thought you would start out better especially if you choose Trout, Cabrera etc. but that doesn't seem to be the case. Not sure if the results will/would be different for each person but those are what I have experienced.
I would like to see what other ratings people are getting if you have tried.Currently Playing:

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I got picked by my Phillies as a SP without forcing the game in the 2nd round. That's the earliest I've gotten picked. That was with a B potential because of two solid and one average start, I'm assuming you can hit A if you tear up all three.
Edit: Has anyone seen the option to add a 4th pitch in RTTS anywhere?PSN: KMRBlue1027

Nice man! What were your overall and potential? Also does getting picked high help you get to the Majors quicker?Jamie Scott MLB 14 The Show YouTube Series!

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
As a pretty straightforward starting pitcher (4SFB, Vulcan-Change, Sinker), I had a pretty good Showcase out of high-school (1.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 7 K in 9 Innings).
Still ended up going 53rd overall to the Dodgers, whom I hate... so I opted to go to a two-year Junior College, got my 300 points and then went on to have a phenomenal Showcase (0ER, 0.30 WHIP, 11 K in 9 IP) and went 2nd overall to the Marlins at age 20.
Only had time for one game with Jacksonville, struck out 14 (at one point striking out 7 in a row), only surrendered 3 hits and put up zeros for seven innings en-route to my first professional win.
I think once the OSFM come out, I'll start my usual array of RTTS (Knuckleball Pitcher, Power Hitting First-Baseman, Cutter-Specialist Closer).Angels - Ducks - Jets - Celtic F.CComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Is RTTS Difficulty change when you move up the MLB?? So if im on All Star difficulty will it be that way from AA to MLB or does it change???Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Obviously there will be a inherent difficulty curve considering your player will be a lower rating than most you are now playing against... but other than that, the game difficulty remains the same.Angels - Ducks - Jets - Celtic F.CComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I came out as an A potential and i think maybe started as a 58 overall or so. i started out as the starting 1b for the double a team and 7th in the order. i have only made it through about 10 games and I am up to a 64 rating and batting 5th. they have something like an adjusted rating for how your actually preforming compared to your current rating and my adjusted rating is a 74 and exceeding expectations. so that is cool. especially with Garret Jones as the mlb level performing at a 64 rating. hopefully i will get the call up soon.Comment

That's good to see, because I'm on All-Star and AA feels too easy (although, the first couple games always feel easier than the rest of the season).Angels - Ducks - Jets - Celtic F.CComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Done the showcase a few times, seems your potential is only based on how you perform in the showcase, and not your rating. So long as you have Good ABs (work the count, or make solid contact, etc) a majority of the time, hit at least .250-.300 and don't make any errors or bad base running, your potential increases. I was able to get an A rating and projected early 1st round, drafted as high as 3rd overall to the white sox. But it makes no difference at all, you get the same contract and spot on the team wherever you're drafted, so if you have a preference just select your team. Losing up to 4 years for just 600 points seems silly.
Also, I don't like how you have to actually spend training points on everything individually, rather than years past where you'd spend them on one attribute, and it would add a little to a secondary attribute.Comment
