Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports the White Sox have signed Jimmy Gobble to a minor-league deal. The 27 year old left-hander will report to Triple-A Charlotte this week.
Just five years ago, Gobble was a top prospect for the Royals but never found success against right-handers and was released by Kansas City on March 17th. The Rangers signed Gobble to a minor league deal but opted to go with lefties Eddie Guardado and C.J. Wilson instead, cutting Gobble on March 30th.
Gobble held left-handed hitters to a .200/.246/.323 line in 2008 and can be retained by his new team for 2010 as an arbitration-eligible player.Pittsburgh Steelers

Has anyone else checked out mlbdepthcharts.com? It looks like a pretty solid resource for up-to-date depth charts on every MLB team.Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
I have a question but cant seem to find the answer. When teams assign players to minor league camp where do they go is that another term for them just going to AAA or AA? If not where do they send the players when they say minor league camp.Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
MLB teams work out at the practice facilities then once spring training games start for the big league team (and they go to the spring stadiums near by), all the minor league players that arnt on the 40 man roster or NRI work out at the practice facilities and play games until their seasons start.Last edited by tree3five; 04-05-2009, 05:09 PM.Comment

Re: Full Minors Roster for '09
Knight, Reds finally finalized their 25-man for opening day, making some questionable decisions as well...
oh well...here to go (with some of my suggestions to maybe help you with the set)
Catchers: Ramon Hernandez (make his second position 1B), Ryan Hanigan
Infielders: Joey Votto (wish his potential was an A), Brandon Phillips, Alex Gonzalez (found that B.J. Upton's batting stance is very comparable to his...he is healthy, and his power is a little higher than you had in your AL test set), Edwin Encarnacion, Paul Janish
Outfielders: Jay Bruce, Chris Dickerson, Willy Taveras, Laynce Nix, Jerry Hairston Jr., Darnell McDonald
Starting pitchers:Aaron Harang, Edinson Volquez, Micah Owings, Johnny Cueto and Bronson Arroyo (dealing with carpel tunnel issues, and had a terrible spring)
Relievers:Francisco Cordero (terrible spring...control issues), David Weathers, Jared Burton, Mike Lincoln, Arthur Rhodes, Daniel Ray Herrera (SCEA screwed up his pitches, and pitch speeds royally...I hope RAZR addressed this) and Nick Masset (long reliever)
Bill Bray (dealing with injuries, down about 4-5 mph on his fastball), Homer Bailey (has new delievery...can't find any media of it yet, but looked REALLY good in the spring), Rosales (3B, INF as second position) all outrighted to AAA
Gomes assigned to minor league camp, most likely to become a free agent...Jacque Jones released and not given an offer to AAA.
Opening Day Line-Up:
Hairston, LF
McDonald, CF (Taveras is sick)
Votto, 1B
Phillips, 2B
Bruce, RF
Encarnacion, 3B
Hernandez, C
Gonzalez, SS
Harang, SPComment
