Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
yikes ! Just was about to start my first game and the CPU had Heyward batting 1st. Does this problem happen with the SCEA rosters? If not I will just create a few guys that I actually know and have fun with it.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
Did you play a season or franchise with Knight's roster last year? You would have dealt with the exact same thing, only you wouldn't have been able to correct every lineup - just two of them (last year was 2 user control teams max). This year we can actually do something about those lineups.Comment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
As others, while i see why it bothers some of you, i don't really see it as a HUGE glitch or bug.
Franchise play mode is not season replay mode, as soon as you sim one day, the real world becomes fantasy, players can get injured, improve or decrease attributes, teams can trade players, the AI will take roster decisions based on players ratings, etc. Have on mind that the game AI doesn't know the MLB players names and history, but their numerical attributes and player ID.
Each team has an AI that decides the best lineup, who to demote, who to promote, etc and as long as that AI is not glitched (IE. Putting your SP as leadoff) and uses some logic like Knight165 explained, then we can't really complain a lot, we can't pretend that the AI will mirror exactly the decision of the real manager for each team.
I think that what most of you should use is CPU roster control, that will disable injuries and trades, so you can do all the moves manually yourself for each team to mirror real life daily.
Again i understand the complains, but i have decided to play and enjoy the game instead, with an MLB based universe thanks to the awesome rosters created by knight and Co, and not looking at each AI move that close or for sure you will find questionable AI decisions as every sport sim has. In fact i wonder what would we think about some questionable or dumb real life manager decisions if were taken in a game, for sure we would call them glitches or bugs too
For future games, maybe the developers should add another game mode, with daily updated rosters to download, to play exactly the same games that there are played in real life that day, with the same rosters, lineups etc, something like the NBA live DNA thing or NBA2k10 live rosters or whatever are named.Comment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one being ticked off by this. I started doing them manually this morning and it took me around 90 minutes to do 6 teams. I was getting all the info from MLB.com, but now that roster spreadsheet will surely make things easier.
I really think SCEA should just give us some "living rosters", reflecting what happens every week and applying it to our franchise.
I do like the 30team roster control option, giving the injuries yourself and whatnot, but I have to admit that option is mostly intended for hardcore gamers (with TONS of time in their hands). I do like spending time on my franchise but unfortunately have to work and have other things to do (Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to buy a PS3 and the show every year).
Living rosters is the way to go next year. (they can leave the 30-team control option for those who have the time).ephemeralComment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
Moreover, what's the point of grooming a C or B level prospect in any given franchise, if said prospect is then waived in real life 3 months into the season?
Everyone holding a receipt for the game is entitled to do with it what they want, but some of these completely unreasonable requests (demands) are rather awkward to read.
As someone so aptly mentioned shortly ago, once you begin a season/franchise - what happens in RL is moot. Trying to mirror DTD transactions seems like an exercise in futility. Quite honestly THIS is more corrosive to realism (the awkward game/real life hybrid) than any grievance mentioned thus far.Comment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
As for lineups, as long as I have control over mine, I don't give a rip what the CPU does with theirs. If they don't want to follow what their real life manager/GM does, who am I to argue. I can guarantee you that I will not be fielding the same lineup as Bob Geren does. So if the CPU version of Girardi wants Thames to bat 4th, who cares? When I faced Tampa, they had Longoria batting 2nd. He has great contact so why not. After the first time through the lineup, the order is irrelevant anyway. Rather, batting 2nd just guarantees Longoria will get several more AB's throughout the 162 game season, which might come in handy down the road.Comment
