Thanks for the workaround.....1 question though....with 30 team control the lineups will always be the same for every team for every game right? For instance, if you want to rest your 2nd baseman for a game, the CPU won't put the backup in, I would have to, right?

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
As others, while i see why it bothers some of you, i don't really see it as a HUGE glitch or bug.
Franchise play mode is not season replay mode, as soon as you sim one day, the real world becomes fantasy, players can get injured, improve or decrease attributes, teams can trade players, the AI will take roster decisions based on players ratings, etc. Have on mind that the game AI doesn't know the MLB players names and history, but their numerical attributes and player ID.
Each team has an AI that decides the best lineup, who to demote, who to promote, etc and as long as that AI is not glitched (IE. Putting your SP as leadoff) and uses some logic like Knight165 explained, then we can't really complain a lot, we can't pretend that the AI will mirror exactly the decision of the real manager for each team.
I think that what most of you should use is CPU roster control, that will disable injuries and trades, so you can do all the moves manually yourself for each team to mirror real life daily.
Again i understand the complains, but i have decided to play and enjoy the game instead, with an MLB based universe thanks to the awesome rosters created by knight and Co, and not looking at each AI move that close or for sure you will find questionable AI decisions as every sport sim has. In fact i wonder what would we think about some questionable or dumb real life manager decisions if were taken in a game, for sure we would call them glitches or bugs too
For future games, maybe the developers should add another game mode, with daily updated rosters to download, to play exactly the same games that there are played in real life that day, with the same rosters, lineups etc, something like the NBA live DNA thing or NBA2k10 live rosters or whatever are named.Comment

Thanks for sharing this; it makes it much easier everyone to get a nice franchise going without spending hours setting rosters firstComment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
Without players on the 40-man, what happens when the rule V draft comes around? Or are players added to the 40 automatically after the season starts?Comment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
Unfortunatley not.... cpu automatically changes everything once you end Spring. Easiest way (I did it last night) was to go in and manually change all the teams lineups (must use the 30 man roster control). Took me under 1.5 hours but worth the effort. Now i have all correct lineups for all teams and even with manual lineups, the cpu will make minor changes when it comes times to rest guys.Last edited by astronut; 04-08-2010, 02:27 AM.Comment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
My lineups are with 40 man rosters untouched, I appreciate the work Mets did on his but I don't want to touch the 40 man rosters and I'm sure there are others that don't as well.
If someone will show me how to upload a franchise save I'll be happy to share them with everyone.
Hokie, I like your idea of manual injury management, I hadn't thought of that. I think I'm going to try that, that doesn't seem like too much work at all. I also disable trades until June 1st and then I turn them to auto and if I see a trade that doesn't make sense I will trade the players back to their original teams. I put instant trades on for this very reason, I'd rather do it this way than checking the transaction screen every single day.
Anyway you guys need to check the franchise work around thread on the main page. Just because you choose 30 team control that doesn't mean you have to control all 30 teams. You can do as little or as much as you want, a realistic experience is there though if you want it.Comment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
Or try option 3.
Load Knight's rosters, begin a franchise, control your team, and enjoy.
A similar issue existed last year, and ratings were edited slightly to 'remedy'. Even without the edits, it wasn't a huge issue, Prince Fielder wasn't leading off, Linceum was still a #1 starter, and the world kept spinning.
Besides, for all the 'purists' on here looking for a laughably unattainable CPU management/real life transaction hybrid of a franchise; shouldn't you be slightly more worried when your Pirate's team is hitting .294 with a 3.46 ERA 50 games into the season?

Re: LINEUPS with latest Official Update?
Jeez you guys are freaking out over a little extra WORK? Do you have any idea how much work went into those rosters you're using? Just sim to the last day of spring training, printout those 25 man roster spreadsheets somebody posted earlier in this thread, and fix this issue yourselves!!! It only took me 2 hours and now my franchise is perfect (30 team). I even put all the correct guys on the DL. BTW, Knight & crew if you're reading this, your rosters are impeccable I only found 1 guy missing in the whole thing (some Cubs reliever). Absolutely astounding work.Comment

Well I'm finished and would like to share it with everyone else but someone is going to have to show me how. How do I upload a franchise save? All I see are roster and slider uploads.

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
The only slight problem is that when they rest players for a particular game, the lineup for that game can be a little off. But it's far better to have whacky lineups occasionally than for the whole season.Comment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
it's pretty easy to do it your self. Start your franchise. Set to control all 30 teams. Go through the lineups and adjust them. Most of the lineups are corr ect or just a little off. Only a few teams are messed up. Took me less than 1 hour. And this way you have the correct 40 man rosters. I don't like the other roster that only has 25 man done.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
Found a fix that only took me about 20 minutes!
I downloaded the roster file LETSGOMETS89 V1 (make sure you get the one with the capital "V" in "V1"; that fake roster turdmonkey is back at it again).
This file only has 25 players on the 40-man roster for each team. This alleviates that lineups issue since it's caused by the CPU trimming down MLB squads from 40 to 25 after Spring Training.
Note: You have to use Franchise mode and not Season Mode. In Season Mode you only have 25 players on your team and everyone else is a free agent instead of being in your minor league system.
So after starting a new Franchise with this roster file, I went ahead a simmed through Spring Training (with injuries turned off for the sim) and advanced to the Regular Season. Lineups were perfect.
Before playing any games, I went through every team's AAA squad and added 15 players to the 40-man roster (top 8 pitchers and top 7 position players, including at least 1 catcher). It took 20 minutes tops. If you want to be more meticulous than I was, it could take a little longer, but it's MUCH faster than other fixes previously posted.
So by filling every team's 40 man roster, if the CPU has an injury on their MLB squad, they can call someone up from AAA, and everyone's also set for September Callups.
Here's some additional notes on settings/methodology and such:
You HAVE TO control all 30 teams. Assign your profile to the team you are playing with, and NO PROFILE to the rest of the teams.
Make sure GLOBAL SETTINGS are set to:
Lineups/Rotations - Manual
Injury Management - MLB Only
Everything else can be set to Auto if you'd like
Start playing the games.
As each day progresses, you will be notified of various injuries around the league. For each injury alert, choose the appropriate action to take based on how long the player will be out (place on bench, 15-day DL, 60-day DL). If the player goes on the DL, the CPU will handle the AAA call-up appropriately.
If an injured player happens to be a starter (and therefore leaving an empty slot in the lineup) you will be prompted that such-and-such a team "Does not have 4 valid lineups". At that point, fix their lineup as you see fit.
If a starting pitcher is injured and you get the "Does not have a valid starting rotation" alert, I just hit auto-fix and the CPU handles it okay.
When you get an alert that a player is no longer injured, and/or off the DL, place him on the bench. Then go to the team's lineups and insert him back in.
And there you have it. Sounds like a lot, but it's really just a couple minutes of maintenance between games. And it does keep you well informed on what's going on around the league.Comment

Re: HUGE PROBLEM WITH LINEUPS AFTER SPRING TRAINING!!!
hey Hokie, this sounds like an ordered approach to this chaos of a zillion posts.I think I am going to try this, though I didn't know you could turn injs off during spring and back on during the season, I thought that was an initial franchise setup option. ?
I may turn them off totally, just so I don't have to deal with all that stuff in between games. Or put them on manual and emulate the real mlb, to some extent. I will likely totally ignore the NL as I always have with bb sims. LOL Just don't care about the NL, never have my whole life for some reason. Lived in AL cities all my life, near Oakland.
will manual still work with your ideas here? Thanks for the guidelines, this has been a bit chaotic, but seems a lot of people have sorted it out, esp that guy who did the V1 roster.Comment
