    Re: 2014 OS FICTIONAL rosters

Got 8 more in the vault, but I'm totally in the dark as far as what's needed--I'm just blindly creating dudes at this point.

Also, I'm creating most of these guys with the idea that they'll be in the bigs when the roster drops. I'd honestly feel like I'm wasting my time if these guys will eventually get re-rated and dumped in the minors.

    Holla back.

Mainly pitchers are needed atm, but a few position players in the mix are fine too.

With position players, it's about 50/50 between where they end up. With pitching, however, probably at least 3/4 of outside submissions are finding themselves in the majors. The reason for this is because this roster is based off of last years fic rosters, and there is a much greater need for young pitching talent at this point.
I play sports games and spend way too much time making rosters.

Gotcha; but to be honest, 90% of the faces from last year's set were utter garbage. I hope this year's set will be a step-up from that.

I personally feel priority should be given to the most realistic looking players. Re-rates take 2 seconds. Equipment edits take 2 seconds. But trying fixing some of the weak-sauce faces from last year that made the league look completely fake.

Bottom line: The most realistic-looking players should be in the majors--that's all I'm saying. If I can't get a confirmation on that, I'm probably jumping ship.

Last year many faces were just game generated. This year every face and every detail of every player is done individually. That's why it is so much work, I want every single player to look realistic.

Faces, ratings, potential, ages, handedness, and equipment all need to be spot on, or the league is not going to appear realistic. I have complex formulas written to ensure that all ratios are in check, not a single player passes through without having everything checked over, from their face, to their ratings, down to their shoes even.

I want the majors to be as realistic as possible, and I want the minors to be as realistic as possible. I guess what I'm saying is I regard myself as rather good at faces and everything else that goes into generating realism in these rosters - by the time it's released there won't be "most realistic" looking guys, because I want them all to be very near perfectly realistic.

Every other determining factor can be changed with one or two clicks by anyone who downloads the roster: from handedness, to age, to ratings, to deliveries, to stances (even to the uber-important shoes and socks! ).

A person can literally change the handedness of every batter in the ML's before he can fix one goofy-looking face.

Just saying. (If I'm alone on this, I'll shut up).

I like the way we're working now.
I loved last year's version of the fictional rosters and the year before too. Never once in my mind did I second guess any of the faces lol. I just didn't care. The idea of a purely fictional roster was what was more important and fun to me.

Don't get me wrong though, since I'm contributing to this set we're on this year I do want realistic looking faces too. But it's nothing I'll lose sleep over in the end (that's why the creator is most of the work lol.) I also knew from the start not every guy I made would be in the majors since a majority of this is based off last year's set and players.
Just my opinions. I know we all want/expect different things from the fictional rosters. I'm sure I'll edit a few things once we're done with the roster before I start my franchise.

I understand how time consuming things are, because I do everything. Let me rephrase myself from earlier: i edit everything from batting stance, handedness, all the way nose tip 2 and cheek definition. I check everything. Everything. Everything. Including the faces.

I feel like you're acting as if all I do is sit and plug your guys into the roster. That's wrong... A player has yet to make it past my check without having something about their face and equipment modified.

It takes me at least 10 minutes just to edit a single player submission, and much much longer if I create them from scratch.

Does that make you feel any better about what we're doing here? I hope you understand that I strive for realism in ALL areas.

I would like to contribute to this! What position should I try to create some players for?

I'm sure the help would be appreciated. Contact the creator for more details, but as far as I know we really need pitchers. All level and types of Starters and relief. Bench players and minor leaguers are still needed as well. Basically, I've just creating a good mix of pitchers and bench players as my submissions.

Not as far as I'd like to be, but much further than years past were in April.

Sorry to answer that politically lol.

The more help we get, the faster they'll be out! Just wanted to thank the guys that have been helping so far, you know who you are

I think that's what makes a fictional roster awesome. We'll be there soon enough with a good and tested roster set. I know I can't wait.

Something different with the rosters this year is that they are optimized for franchise mode. I thought it would be fitting with the new year-to-year saves.

                              1. Players in the minors are just as realistic as players in the majors, EVERYBODY looks real. Even years in the future, this roster should be just as much fun to play a franchise with.

                              2. There's a lot of young talent, much more than last year, especially pitchers.

                              3. All gear and equipment colors are done using only "team colors 1, 2, and 3," and neutral colors such as black and white. This will ensure that an Athletics catcher isn't wearing yellow and green when he gets traded to the Rockies, for example.
I play sports games and spend way too much time making rosters.

Should have one left handed 3rd baseman or Shortstop hidden somewhere on the roster, just because we can have that now. hah
