    Re: Favre4vr's HOF slider tweaks

I lowered arm accuracy to 3...seems when I lowered it to 2...no way would you ever get an OF assist...but with 3, I have seen 3 bounces in the dirt to 1st...and of course the commentary said it was 2 great plays the dive by the SS, and the scoop by the 1st baseman

I lowered arm strength to 14...from 15, so if its offline a speedy runner may get a IF single but with arm strength on default...guhhh, I tested it bunting with Rollins...he had about 13 drag bunt hits in 20 ABs

I also raised baserunning aggresiveness to 12...they try and take that extra base and depending on their baserunning ability...it may be an overzealous move

With errors on 18 my 25th ranked Philly defense has 25 errors in 41 games, it would be more if they tracked errors correctly...so about .60 errors per game which is right on for a bad D like Philly

      Re: Favre4vr's HOF slider tweaks

I can no longer update the first page, so here is an update. The only thing changed is throwing accuracy. It was -2, but I moved it to -4. Seems a little more balanced and may create some more errors (Arod threw one away already). Thanks to everyone who has given me valuable input.

      UPDATED 3/16/06
      Settings
      Level--HOF
Batting View--WIDE (This was a recent change. I helps cut down on some hits for me)
      Pitching View--Outfield
Fielding level--Low (A preference. I like being closer to the action)
Pitching aids--All off (Strike zone, h/c zone, cursor)
      Baserunning--All manual.

      Sliders (all clicks from default)
      Pit count- Max
Contact-- -5 for me, default for the CPU
      Power-- +2 for both
Pitch speed-- Default to +4. Whatever you comfort level is.
      Baserunning aggressive-- +5
Throw Speed--Default (although -2 for both works ok)
      Thow Accuracy-- -4 for both
      Errors-- +3 for both
      Strike Zone--Wide

You know I actually hit BETTER with WIDE zone then Catcher
and I pitch better with OUTFIELD view rather then PITCHER

I think those are for the old blind as a bat guys like me

If the meter was smaller i would play on outfield. But i also noticed that this game looks better zoomed in.

OUCH!!!!!!!!! I just had 6 errors with my Orioles. Melvin Mora airmailed 3 balls in one inning over my first baseman's head. One was on a pickoff move, and the other 2 were dropped fly balls.

OK boys this is a 20 game stat check with these sliders with the late change on throwing accuracy bumped down 3 games ago (and it had a great effect) My sliders in the signature are final for me. I thank everyone for helping and testing. I hope people can use them to enhance their enjoyment of the game.

                Yanks (9-11 ,2.5 gmb)
                Stat--League Rank

                159 K's--26th
9 E--9th (The throw accuracy change has put 3 errors in the last 2 games!! I think I am set)

                Damon--.256 1 HR 5RBI 6SB 4BB 16K

All of the other hitters are average and I lost Sheff for 4 weeks to a calf strain.

                Unit 0/2 5.40 ERA
Moose 1/2 6.27 ERA (Missed his last start with a funny arm in his warmup session)

I like your player stats. Everybody plays slightly different so nobodys sliders will be perfect but it seems like they work very good for you. I'm really liking the player stats you mentioned. Giambi batting .267 with 4 long balls in 20 games. That's very realistic. Also he leads in K's for the ones you mentioned. I'm really starting to think a LOT of it it has to do with player attributes. It's pretty obvious but it really plays a huge role. I can bat good with Ortiz no matter what I set my sliders at because his attributes are nuts. I think there should be a section for player attribute changes as well as sliders.

It must be rough playing with the Royals on HOF. I am playing with the Red Sox and I am doing awful. Granted, I have user contact and power all the way down. I'm still trying to tweak that. Don't mean to get off topic but who else did they pick up in the offseason besides Doug. I'm not even going to try to spell his last name.

You're right, it's very tough. I probably should be playing on veteran or all-star level right now, but I like the challenge of learning the game on the highest level from the get-go. Unfortunately, I still have not got the hang of this game yet—I've won two games in about 20 tries . But I think these sliders will produce a very realistic game once I finally turn the corner, so I'm sticking with 'em.

As for the Royals, we deviated a bit from our "youth movement" and picked up several veteran players, including:

                        • Reggie Sanders, OF
                        • Doug Mientkiewicz, 1B
                        • Joe Mays, SP
                        • Scott Elarton, SP
                        • Mark Redman, SP
                        • Elmer Dessens, RP
                        • Mark Grudzielanek, 2B

We'll see how the real season plays out. I'm still hopeful that we can at least finish around .500.

Wow I forgot about Grudzielanek. I wonder who you had to give up to the Cards to get him and Reggie Sanders. Elarton should do well there. I remember you guys had a lot of young arms in the bullpen like Burgos or something. He threw high 90's and had a nasty splitter.

Ryan---Thanks for the kind words. I hope they do the trick for ya. Let me know if you make adjustments. I always like to hear how other people are doing and if they have similar styles. Good luck with KC. I always liked the Royals, they are a team that I always hoped would win especially in the days of Brett, Saberhagen, Gubicza, Willie Wilson etc. They have some good young talent. I wish they would develop it. That Andy Sisco kid has a tremendous arm. Good luck man. Thanks again for your tests and feedback. It really helped me.

Hey man, I absolutely agree about everyone plays different. These suit me well. In my younger days, I may have turned up the pitch speed, but my reactions are alot slower LOL. Yeah, it is tough when you can't edit attributes to tone it down. Maybe they update it through the roster updates. If you give them enough feedback in the roster forum, they do pay attention to it. Have fun.

seem to be good.. played only one franchise game.. but here was the line score:

                                Nats : 4 10 0
                                Mets : 3 10 1

i ended up striking out 9 times to Livan, but made him work for his K's.. had several 3-2 counts, walked once, & Delgado was the beast - 1 hr, 3 rbis

i had to modify the settings (still need to use some fielding aids), but was enjoyed by what I saw from the game now.. Livan had 101 pitches before being pulled, Pedro finished with 85..
