    Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis)

I have the CPU contact/power settings at -10/-1 and have been mowing through the CPU but here is where my question comes in. I have been playing SD, Arizona and SF for the last 10 games or so and none of them really have an offense that scares anyone, especially considering the Giants arent even starting Bonds, so would it be wise to raise this to the previously mentioned -8 on contact now or wait until I play some teams with a decent offense? I hate to alter it only to get steamrolled by actual good teams, but at the same time Ive thrown 3-5 shutouts already this season and Ive only played approx. 30 games so thats quite a few shutouts for it being so early in the season. Thanks.

EDIT- The CPU's offense isnt getting hits, they are hitting below .200 against me, Im thinking of going back to power being at default since Ive given up the lowest amount of HR's in the majors and its not even close. Again, if you have any advice feel free to offer it.

I play with CPU contact at -8 and CPU power at +1. Also, I have pitch speed at -10 for everyone. So far, the CPU hits a few more HRs than in real life, but nothing too extreme...I think it's pretty realistic overall...though I have thought about moving CPU power to 0....I'll give it some time before I do that though, I am the Royals in my franchise, so giving up a lot of HRs can be pretty realistic.

how is the dynamics of the game with those settings, does the ball rocket past the INF,do the INF recieve it quickly,or dose everything play smooth and realistic with a nice flow to the game,Thanks............nasa

Funny that I type that and the very next game I give up 2 HR's to Arizona, still won 4-3 but they hit .272 against me that game, so maybe I just need to keep playing at the current settings. If it becomes to easy I will probably bring the contact from -10 to -8 to make it a little tougher but I may not even need it at this point.

On a side note, Boston has Manny and Youkilis on the trade block, Ive followed others advice and eliminated other players ability to play 1st but I assume since we cant alter Ortiz' ability to play 1st this will happen regardless. I also noticed they are shopping Manny, it all seems weird, Boston isnt in rebuilding mode, they are 1st in the wild card but are still looking to deal Pedroia, Manny, Youkilis and Drew, almost as if they are conceding the season already and May just started.

There are some rockets and some weakly hit balls......I think it's fairly realistic. I mean, in real baseball a lot of times the groundouts are harder hit than a lot of base hits, so I think it's realistic....not every out is a weak ground ball or pop fly...the CPU hits the ball hard a pretty decent amount, especially against my pitching (Royals). I think the settings I have are pretty good and the game plays great.

The games in the show are very dynamic. Just when you think you have command of the the cpu, you get a smack in the face. There have been times where I have thought about moving the cpu's power and contact. I have played games with the cpu's contact at -8 and power at default and the game has responded nicely.

You have to remember the more reps you get with this game, there is going to be a need for adjustments.

To be honest Nasa I am not convinced it is better at this point. There are some things I see that I like and some that I do not. I will only post them if I feel it makes the game better than where we are now.

nemesis do u play with contact at -8 and power at +1 or default for the cpu ,if u do, do u have to tweak the pitch speed to pitch a little slower than default to keep the dynamics of the game intact, or do u play with ur last updated sliders meaning keep everything the same, Thanks.............Nasa

I hear ya and I may still raise it to -8 contact and default for power since the CPU's offense just isnt consistent at all, then again like I said before, I havent exactly been playing teams with a great offense either. Ironically, going into my last game my teams era was 3.63 I believe and when I checked the Dodgers team era in real life going in to last nights game aginst Toronto their team era was also an exact 3.63, kinda funny that they were identical like that, and thats exactly why Im somewhat hesitant to change anything since my stats are right on line to the what the Dodgers are doing in real life anyways and I have Schmidt pitching lights out in my game where as he isnt even pitching for the Dodgers right now.

Does the contact slider effect the ability to hit HR's? I have it at -8 and Ive only hit 22 HR's in 30 games, but since going back to -8 from default I havent even gotten close to hitting one out. Im not sure if the contact slider effects power or only being able to put contact on the pitch, it seems that the lower the # the less forgiving the game is when swinging which technically could lead to less HR's but at the same time Ive been on top of pitches and keep hitting doubles, but nothing even out to the warning track, so Im not sure if its all in my head at this point or if there is something to it after all. Well with it at -8 I beat Atlanta 5-3, scoring 3 runs in the first and then mustering 2 more on a few doubles in the later innings, dont mind winning but I need to hit a few HR's and its not like I dont have any power at all since Kemp's power is a 85 against RH's.

In the set I am trying I have contact at -8, power at default and pitch speed at +2. If I slow down pitch speed the hitting would get too easy.

Contact determines the quality of bat on ball. Power is going to influence hr's more. Up your power a little at a time until you start to see the amount of hr's you want in a game.
