I am glad you finally found a comfort level with the game. I know you have been searching for quite some time!

The confidence meter in the Show is way too sensitive. Next year they either have to add a sensitivity slider for it or have the ability to turn it on or off. If you lose the perfect release point, generally you need an inning of flawless pitching to get it back. Easier said than done! When the release point is gone and you have the blurry blue area, try to stay towards the top end of this. You will get less break and a little more control on the pitch. With some practice, you can still hit close to where you want pitch to be.
It is really key when you are at the disadvantage to try to get ahead of the count as much as possible. Then you can try to get them to chase to get the k or a weak hit. That was one of the reasons why I have the CPU batter plate discipline slider slanted toward them taking more pitches besides just increasing pitch counts. The CPU would be apt to take a first pitch strike helping you when you cannot pin point the pitches.
If your pitcher is not getting past the fourth inning that tells me your pitching approach is too similar from the first time through the order. The CPU picks up on your pitching tendencies very quickly. The pitching philosophy on HOF needs to mimic real MLB pitching in order to be successful.
I would not change any sliders and I would try to work on pitch strategy first. We can slant it to erase this problem but it can work with the current settings.
Let me know if I can help in any way!!
