Ok now I'm all messed up with my clicking. Is 10 the default? So -2 would actually be 8 clicks starting from the far left?

0 is default. -2 would be 2 clicks to the left from default.

Right, but I have no idea what the default used to be since the game has been out for so long!

              Nemesis,

I'm thinking about raising pitch speed from -8 to -2. I played on default for a few innings and I think the fastball is more realistic then with PS practically at zero. Considering the CPU throws a majority of fastballs, this would require quicker bat speed.

Yes, my timing was late and I did not pull the ball as much but ironically, breaking pitches and slow stuff are easier to pick up at higher speeds. I discovered that laying off those sweeping sliders and slurves are much easier at higher speeds. At low speed, the ball hangs a tad longer to entice you to swing and miss!

So higher speed ='s harder to hit fastballs, easier to judge breaking pitches.

Lower speed ='s easier to hit fastballs , harder to judge breaking balls.

That of course is my opinion, not factual.

The change in pitch speed is not that prominant with the fastball. I don't notice a huge difference bewteen default and zero. However, the slow and breaking stuff is noticeable. That's why lowering pitch speed does not IMO make the game easier.

So I need to adjust between default and -8 to cut down on my double digit hit games.

What is your opinion on the awareness slider? does it really increase hits as people argue? or does it truly help with fouls and taking bordeline pitches. I've got it on +6 and enjoy being able to fight off tough pitches on 0-2 counts.

I figure, if I'm not using guess pitch why not give myself some advantage.

Sorry for the winded post but I'm so into this game that everytime I win, I feel as though I'm not playing with enough challenge. Call it MLB guilt!

Default is zero, you lost me in that sentence. You tried default and it is more effective than having it near zero?

This observation make sense to me. If you slow things down too much it does get harder to distinguish between faster and slower pitches.

It may elevate hit totals slightly because your ability to make contact with pitches has increased. It does generate a lot of nice foul ball battles! I would stay with this setting because most of your hitting is by the timing method. Lowering would take away your coverage and could increase your k totals in the game.

I like the observations. Sounds like you really study the game. Never feel guilty about winning because the game will humble you the next time around!

Thanks for your patience. Sliders are not just about gameplay. They're about adjusting for skill level as one progresses. That's why teaking is part of taking ownership of the game.

                    Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis)

Just started a fantasy franchise using your sliders and Knight's rosters. My first game on opening day was a classic. It was the Mets (me) vs the Cardinals.

Starting pitchers were Fausto Carmona (NYM) vs Adam Wainwright (STL). They scored early in the game with a 3 run lead in the 4th inning. I came back and hit a 2 run homerun with Griffey so score is 2-3. Top of the ninth, I come back and cream them with singles, doubles, and a stolen base. Tacked on 4 runs so score is now 6-3. Sent in Papelbon to close the game and he gives up 2 runs with 2 outs. With runners on 3rd and 1st, Papelbon strikes out Curtis Granderson to win the game and pick up the save. No doubt about it, that was the best game of baseball I have ever played.

Thanks for making these sliders Nemesis. I love them.

                    Here's the statsline

One of the things I love about this game is the diversity of the outcomes. You could be cruising along with a good streak and then the very next time the game will humble you. Great stuff!

                            Nemesis,

I can't determine which I like better....classic or meter pitching. I know what sliders to change and to what # by what you told me about classic pitching sliders. Which do you prefer? What do you play your dynasty with? I'm going to assume that with classic your e.r.a . gets higher up into the 4's and with the meter you can still be in the high 2's on average.

I'm just not entirely sold on the randomness of the classic style. Seems like it's just to arcadish and extreme. I'll defer to someone who has had the game longer than a month to expound on the pros and cons of each.

Hopefully this will help out alot of people and not just me,

I am not a big fan of classic either. We are using it in our online league and I find it way too frustrating sometimes. Classic seems to be a little too random at times for my taste. I am partial to the meter. The one down side with the meter is that it can become easy over time. The best set-up I have come up with using the meter is to have the pitching view from the outfield and turn all H/C zones and the strike zone off. Pitching from that view seems to elevate your ERA a little more because it is harder to pin point your pitches. Have you tried it?

Yes, I play with meter more than classic. I do use the outfield cam. I haven't played with all the zones off, but I do use the fade cursor to make it more difficult. Just to random with classic (it's like I have zero control over what the pitcher does and I don't like that feeling at all). Carew plays with classic and he has user pitch control and pitch movement both at 20. That might be a bit much.

Quick question have you tried to play with user field speed at zero like the computer has to. Seems to waken up the computer's offense some. Just curious,
