My offense is anemic, just lost to SD 5-3 but I had 12 hits, problem is 11 of them were singles and 1 double and everytime I got someone on I would ground into a DP or strikeout, it is pretty frusterating. So, I think I mentioned this earlier, I have been playing with guess pitch on and only using it to gaurd against swinging at pitches in the dirt but Im still not scoring any runs, so far Im sitting at 3-7, gotta keep chugging away and hope someone starts hitting soon I guess. I understand this is personal preference, but how do you view using the guess pitch feature? I dont guess the pitch, just the low locations for the reasons I mentioned earlier but at the same time I cant shake the feeling that Im getting an unfair advantage, then again a real hitter would be looking directly out at the pitcher and not at a slight angle so they could see the pitch better.

On a side note, when checking my profile on the game it says my record is 17-22 but yet I havent even playd 10 games yet, sohow is this possible exactly? Anyone else seeing this on their end? I know this really doesnt belong here but figured I would pose it out of curiosity.
The problems you are experiencing are common for the HOF level at first. Especially since these slider settings take away some of hitting ability for the user to increase the challenge.

Don't fustrate yourself. Bring contact and power back to default and see how your offense performs. Remember, your left stick aiming is huge on the HOF level for solid contact. The cpu pitchers are masterful at inducing the double play ball. They will pitch you low in the zone and if you keep biting they will keep throwing.

As far as the guess pitch feature I do not use it. I think it is a crutch where you become too dependent on it. Study the cpu's pitching patterns, those are more important. Generate some hitter's counts. That is where you will score some offense. Keep me posted on the progress!

Maybe baseball is changing, lol!

Anyway, to make hitting harder you would need to lower the plate awareness slider. Bring it down to -7. Bring your power down to default or to -1.

      How is the cpu's offense?
Thanks... I'll give that a try and see how it works. The CPU's offense isn't terrible, but I'm usually able to keep them from scoring runs without too much effort. It seems like with the CPU, it's either boom or bust. I'm noticing that a good majority of the CPU's runs come off of dingers. It also seems as if the CPU hit variety isn't as good as it is for me. For example, I was pitching with Bronson Arroyo in my Reds chise and threw a 2 hitter (1 being a homerun). Thats fine, but in doing this I only struck out one batter, which means that 26 outs were recorded in the field.

Maybe I'm just getting lucky or I make better pitches then I give me self credit for, but I don't like the fact I can be last in the league in strikeouts but first in ERA. I need to play more games against better teams to see if this will change, but I'm hoping that the CPU can give me a bit more trouble then it has so far in my franchise.

My biggest problem is my inability to read pitches, Im either too anxious at the plate or I swing at garbage in the dirt. I hope that over time this will get better since Ive only played 11 games total on this game. What batting view do you find gives you the best chance to read pitches? Ive tried wide, catcher and pitcher views, pitcher I just cant get the hang of at all and the other two Im constantly going back and forth between and I cant find much of a difference.

I use catcher for my hitting view. Stick with one camera view because it is going to take at least a good 20 games just to get the hitting down to the point where you are moving runners and scoring runs. There is definately a learning curve with hitting in the game.

Let me know how it goes and if I could help with something!

You should be getting more k's than that. That tells me you are hanging around the zone too much and not fooling the cpu batters enough with pitch variety and location. Just a quick note, I am 6th in the league with k's.

As far as the cpu offense, bring contact to -8 and power to -2. Let me know how it goes!

Wanted to say thanks for everything, the replies, the sliders, the advice, its much appreciated. Im going to stick with guess pitch-no feedback and the wide angle for hitting, and hope that over time I will get the hang of it. For some reason if Im moving the cursor, reading location and type of pitch I just cant hit, its like there is too much going on at once and I cant concentrate on anthing, lol. Thanks again though.

your sliders are working great for me, only 2 thing i would like to improve, stop getting striked out too much, i tried improve pitch awareness which worked but that made my hit number increase too much. and i , like steven, cant strike out the cpu enough... only whith power pitchers like harden or felix i can strike the cpu enough. i just cant strike out a batter with blanton or kennedy..

I actually just brought it down one notch and it's helped out but really, I think I'm getting more strikeouts from mixing my pitches. I started throwing balls trying to get them to chase and it's worked pretty nicely so far. I believe the last 3 games I played like this I've struck out 10, 6 and 9 batters. I'm still just 26th in K's but much better not being last.

Another cool thing I ran into, I hit a basehit with Derek Jeter on his birthday (In-Game) and one of the announcers was like "He just got a hit on his birthday, congratulations...Happy Birthday To You!" haha, I thought that was pretty cool...once again.

I use the power swing only on rare occasions, mostly hitter's counts.

You have to work harder with your 3,4 and 5 pitchers to get k's. You need to do a lot of mixing of your pitches to get the cpu down on strikes.

Keep mixing your pitches and you will be successful! In the show you need to think like a pitcher. Keep mowing them down!
