      Re: Trinitys Veteran Slider Set!!

I played with these, as this is my first time ever playing The Show and I'm having a good time. My gripes are as follows:

      - Way too many first pitch strikes. I'm trying to be patient but it's hard to when you're down 0-2 more than not. I can't draw any walks

      - AI hitters seem to go after every first pitch. Granted I've taken my pitcher (AJ Burnett) up to 107 pitches with six K's in the 6th inning. But games before that I was taking guys with 5-6 K's into the 6th with only 60-70 pitches. (Teams I played were Anaheim, Boston, TB)

      - I can't hit HRs, haven't hit one yet with these sliders. I have average about nine hits a game with two being for extra bases.

      - Seems like all the pitchers I face are the same.

I made some changes to these sliders after reading some of the other threads, like decreasing the solid hits slider to 0 for both CPU and HUM. I have seen the increased hit variety, for both sides, they've talked about and the CPU still hits HRs.

Do you have any suggestions, slider-wise, on how to increase power at the dish? Even when I guess both pitch and location right and make normal-perfect timing I don't come close to hitting HRs with ARod or Tex...

Like lafrankie asked what are your house rules for guess pitch? How often do you use it and how do you as a player use it?

It might not seem like it after reading this post, but I do enjoy these sliders very much because my skill level isn't very good but I live and breathe baseball. I'm still winning games, I'm 6-3 with these sliders and I'm winning and losing by 3-4 runs on average.

Same thing here with the power. I just lost to the Royals 9-8. I was Boston. I had the 8 runs on 10 hits. Every one of the hits were singles. Not even close to a home run yet.

65 Ks in 220 ABs now. It's only getting worse.

Do you have the pitch speed all the way down to 0?

That helped me out a lot. I get about 2-3 walks per game now. I still strike out 7-9 times per game though. I have 49 k's in 169 ab's

I prefer to play with the hitting difficulty at veteran and pitching at all-star. Would you guys suggest any tweaks to the sliders? Thanks.

I have it set to 1 atm because at 0 I was swinging early on everything. I am only playing RTTS, my player so really I am only seeing 4-5 ABs a game which probably isn't helping my learning curve.

Still though, it shouldn't be this hard to hit the ball right? I mean, I usually excel at every sports game right out of the box. This just seems insane.

I'm using these as a good base set(great job OP) and then tweaking to my level. The only thing I haven't nailed down is HUM/CPU power. I still can't get many xtra base hits nor any HR's. CPU can get xtra base hits but not HR's. I can't even get a ball to the warning track in the air.

                  So far I have changed:

Fielder Run Speed: 1 (Gappers were getting eaten up)

Fielder Reaction: 8 (Saw too many balls getting by the infielders, ie under/over their gloves)

Fielder Arm Strength: 4 (to cut down on the outfield assists)

Baserunner Speed: 5 (was seeing way to many runners go 1st to 3rd way to easy.)

HUM Power: 7 (still not getting many xtra base hits nor any HR's though, so I don't know here)

HUM/CPU Starter Stamina: 6 (pitchers were getting pulled after throwing around 80 pitches. I'm old school, I like to see my starters throw around 100 if they are not getting shelled.)

CPU Strike Frequency: 3 (there were way too many 1st pitch strikes)

                    Re: Trinitys Veteran Slider Set!!

I guess the pitch type and location every pitch. If I dont guess anything correct and its early in the count I look at the pitch. I cant edit the first post cuz im on my cell, but I will be changing SP stamina up to 6 for both cpu and hum. And lower CPU strike frequency to 3. Human power to 7 is up in the air. I know there arent many HRs hit by the user so maybe...not sure on anything else just yet.

The thing about guess pitch is when you guess location correct, the PCI circle locks in position, and its not always square on the ball. Thats why you wont always hit a HR when u guess both. I turn the swing analysis on and hit L3 to look at it to see how squarely i hit the ball, as well as my timing. Thats something u can try as well if ur having trouble hitting. And if ur always early, raise pitch speed, and vice versa.

Was having a real difficult time with The Show until I tried these. These sliders removed a lot of the frustrations I was experiencing. Thanks.

As for the power thing, I hit 2 solo HR in my first game with these. Ryan Braun (off Harang) and Rickie Weeks. (off Lincoln)

Thought you had PCI turned OFF. When it's OFF and you guess the location right, the circle doesn't lock on the pitch because there is no circle. When it's ON sure the circle moves the zone when the pitch is on it's way and the left analog stick doesn't move it.

Anyway, still having the worst time even with these settings. I'll go hitless in 3 games, then get a handful of singles for a few games in a row. Keep in mind I am only playing RTTS with my character and his attributes are awful since I keep failing at all the Goals and therefore not getting max points to increase my skills.

                          Re: Trinitys Veteran Slider Set!!

Played another game with these and the only things I tweaked were my batting view from Catcher to Wide, which made a huge difference, and foul balls (7 for me, 6 for the CPU).

I was playing against Joe Saunders and the Angels and won 7-5. Cano hit a 3-run bomb to right-center field and Tex hit a HR out to center. The Angels also had two HRs, Rivera and their 3rd baseman, whoever that is. Should probably remember his name before the next game, so I don't pitch him that juicy cutter again.

Saunders (92 pitches) was pulled in the 5th after giving up 7 runs, I pulled Pettitte (89 pitches) in the 6th after giving up four runs.

Other than my amazing 9-run 9th inning comeback against Boston in the season opener, this was probably my most intriguing game.

lafrankie, why don't you just bite the bullet and move down a level and get your timing figured out. That's what I did when I first got the game and I'm enjoying the heck out of this game now. It really helped me out, I feel like I'm a better hitter now because of that decision.

In a week, you'll be better suited for the veteran setting. Why spend $60 just to be frustrated and ready to give up on the game when you can just work your way up to this level and enjoy the game for the next seven months. You have to be willing to put in the work to get better, even if that means moving down a level....think of it as a rehab assignment

Is anyone else having a major lack in the homerun department? I mainly use X, I only use the power swing when Im expecting a fastball and the count is in my favor. I just can't seem to get anything over the wall.
