    Jgainsey/Heroesandvillians slider differences: Updated

    User Solid Hits 4/5***
    User Control 4/5
    (User Power 4)

    CPU Control 4/5
    CPU Consistency 4/2

    Fielding Errors 6/7
    Throwing Errors 6/7
    Steal Ability 4/5
    Steal Frequency 6/7

What are you doing with your steals sliders again?

So, I'll lower my reliever stamina, fielder run speed, fielder arm strength, user consistency and wind for now...so I took all of those off the board, since now, they'll match yours.

I'm also going to drop user power to 4, in order to hopefully turn some longballs into doubles.

    Did I miss anything?

I may actually do the same as you. Braves and Jays until Knight's rosters drop.

My brother is trying to convince me to make pitching harder.

Funny, not as hardcore as me, but he's DEALING!

Hitting on the other hand...not so much. He's at .187 over his last 5.

So, I still may join you on user control too. I'm still thinking...

That usually is a bad thing for me!

Daiyoung has his steal ability at 5, and frequency at 8.

His success rate is 76%...in a TON of games. He said it's just a couple percentage points too successful. I think he's considering 4, but wants Nomo to do further testing on the ability slider.

Dai was 5/7 I think, and decided attempts were too low (thus, now he's at 8). I'm not certain on 8 yet, so I'm sticking with 7, like you.

Yeah, I was looking at their settings/stats earlier. Not sure how I missed it, but for some reason I didn't even notice that thread until this morning. Some really good stats and info by nomo and daiyoung. Even though it's all CPU, it's still a great resource for the rest of us working on sliders.

I've already based a few on their results. Great stuff.

For instance, lowering consistency...in and of itself...raises walks. It's crazy the sort of stuff they are finding.

I especially like Daiyoung's set, since most are at or near Default. His stats are amazing... I've even watched a few CPU games with them. What a treat! He's currently testing catcher ratings (maxing out blocking and reaction) to try and find a cure for WP. I'm following that thread very closely. I have no problem editing catchers 15-20 points across the board in order to keep my CPU Consistency slider down.

His are here. Check around three from the last page or so. Like page 9, 10 or 11.

Are you guys noticing good pitchers pitching too well? Because that was happening on Legend with me. The CPU was overall getting their hits and runs but I noticed my top pitchers were too dominant. I raised CPU Timing a couple notches and the CPU is really taking advantage of hanging breaking balls whereas before they would foul a good majority of those off.

Don't worry about User Pitcher Control, it really doesn't do much (at least with analog pitching). I have it zeroed out on Legend and I can pinpoint much more than I should. Just pitch with anyone with no control like Carlos Marmol and you can easily see you shouldn't be nearly as accurate as you are.

Just the other day I had my *** handed to me with Lester. I gave up 12 hits with him and decided to finally pull him.

But, I JUST pitched 8 innings of no run and 3 hit ball with Matsusaka...

To answer your question, all in all, I do much better this year with good pitchers, which was a major complaint of mine last year year, that most pitcher's really felt sort of the same. A difference? Yes. But more so this year, for the better IMO.

I'm not seeing much of a problem with it, though. I actually like what I've seen so far.

In all fairness, I haven't played a solid month to see where era's fall over an extended period. A bunch of games, but a lot of franchise resets for team variety while testing.

I agree the batting AI is a huge improvement, the CPU's hitting was too location based and how nasty a slider was wasn't nearly as important as where the slider was thrown. Control pitchers were much better than pitchers with great stuff. I would always trade Carlos Marmol in my Cubs season because the CPU always lit him up. With all that said, analog pitching is too easy to locate and since the CPU doesn't hit as well, I definitely feel the better pitchers pitch too well. I just feels it's too easy to pitch with the #1s and the #2s and you can get away with too many bad pitches as well. I'm much more of a "feel" guy as I don't look at stats first, I look at them secondly to confirm what I felt was happening. I had 3 starters with 3 starts pitching with a ERA under 3.00 and my good bullpen guys were unhittable.

I think I know where you stand on this, but it may be time for you to drop User Consistency. I don't just mean for a game or two, but I mean for a decent test size.

If you're pitching not so well with 4-5 guys, and 'mr. No-name' middle reliever, maybe that could close the gap a little. I mean, I'd do Control first, but if you truly feel like you've given that a fair shake...Consistency will lead to more walks and less confidence...and well, you know how the story goes from there.

I feel like the power has to subside a little bit eventually, but I'm just crushing the ball right now. And it's not even like I'm dominating the CPU at the plate. There are just too many of my well struck balls leaving the yard. Out of the 5 HR's I hit in this last game, only 2 of 'em were no doubters. The other three just barely cleared the fence. And all three of the ones that barely made it out were opposite field shots. So maybe there's something to that... not sure yet.

                          Boy...

Unless there's some major difference between the two timing hitting mechanics, I have to tell you I have no idea what's going on.

I've had a handful of games like that, but it's manageable enough that I feel like a click or two somewhere away.

I wish I were seeing what you are as of late so I could suggest something, but I'm not.

What was the wind doing that game?

Are you using a lot of power swing? I use it, maybe twice or so times a game...maybe more, fwiw.

Personally, I think you should stick it out. Games like those HAVE to happen...but man, for you, when will they stop?

                            How about this:

                            1. Could our one click difference in CPU control have that large of an impact on homeruns? I doubt it, but...

                            2. I almost exclusively use contact swing in 0-2 and 1-2 counts...unless, I have a guy like Adrian Gonzalez up or have a pretty good idea where the next pitch is getting thrown. So, I do give up at-bats from time to time.

                            3. Have you considered Timing Only? I'm not saying that's the issue, but it is pretty freaking hard.

Or, it's just a hot User streak, and nothing else.

It's crazy... I wasn't seeing anything quite like this on default HOF before I started this recent franchise. My other franchises and exhibition games weren't playing out like this at all. And I really doubt that I went from average hitter at HOF, to dominant, in the matter of a few days.

I can't see analog hitting being all that different than timing only either. Other than having a little left to right control of the PCI, it's really just a timing mechanism. The wind wasn't anything crazy.. blowing slightly in, left to right.

I haven't hit a HR in this franchise with the power swing yet, mostly because I only use it like a few times a game at the most.

I'm definitely going to stick it out for a little while. Teams have power surges like this over a period of a weeks or so all the time. It just so happens that it's happening with both of my teams at the same time, so that's really the only thing that worries me.
                              Now, more than ever

If you're pitching not so well with 4-5 guys, and 'mr. No-name' middle reliever, maybe that could close the gap a little. I mean, I'd do Control first, but if you truly feel like you've given that a fair shake...Consistency will lead to more walks and less confidence...and well, you know how the story goes from there.
I doubt consistency is going to make spotting fastballs harder, which would be my goal. I already feel breaking balls are fair as now I'm scared to hang them and I'll also throw a wild pitch if I go to low with them, I feel proper balance is there.

For power, I think 4 is just right for Legend. Solid Hits may be the answer for curbing your HR numbers as well, TNK & Psycho have that at 2 and they are on AS. On Legend, that would cripple the offenses though. I guess, lowering power or solid hits a notch could give the same results. I guess if you feel overall that balls are being hit with too much authority, lower solid hits. If you just feel there's too many HRs, lower power.
