The bullpen came in and shut the door. Marmol continued his 0 runs allowed streak to start the season, an impressive feat as the calender nears the turn of the 1st month.

The Cubs offense showed plate discipline, drawing 4 BB's, and some timely hitting. The only extra base hits of the game came from a 1 RBI double in the 3rd inning by Aramis Ramirez and a leadoff double by Starlin Castro in the 8th.

those are good stats. I've found if you increase user and cpu fouls to +8 you'll reach the mlb avg. of 30 per team per game. My concerns with having fouls so high are the decrease in k's and perhaps increase of batting avg's because pitchers won't have an "out pitch" to put hitters away cuz they'll fight those pitches off. Any thoughts?

      Those are them!

I'm seeing a lot of low foul totals in sets so far (RL games average 49 per game total). This also serves to increase counts and pitcher totals (yours appear rather low). I'm current HUM contact at 3 and HUM fouls to 6, pitch speed 5.

I'm striking out about 1 or 2 times per game more than I should be, (they're mostly called 3rds) but I chalk it up to being out of practice. I'm seeing some great battles with contact guys, 8,9,10 pitch at bats.

In looking at your stats, only whiffing on 5 pitches is EXTREMELY low, it seems your contact may be a little high? In my experience, raising or lowering contact doesn't increase hits, but it does effect pitch counts, swing throughs, K's, and most importantly BAIBP. For every drop in contact, I increase fouls. (a well timed swing shouldn't always be a miss, but it also shouldn't always be put into play - hence the increase in fouls)

Skow, great box. Hopefully that's not too time consuming! LOL!

My last 10 games have yielded 303 CPU fouls. Obviously, that's 30.3 fouls per game. Usually it's a tad lower, by the way, by this is a good indication of where I'm generally at.

We run the same sliders minus solid hits (me 4, you 3) and user consistency (me 3, you 2).

Too bad you don't have a broader sample size, though. What do you bet that box is a bit misleading? Next game you'll see 32. I can feel it.

The MLB average of fouls is 25 per game.

You won't see a increase in BA by raising fouls, quite the opposite, as more will be caught for outs in play. Decreasing contact in conjunction with raising fouls also decreases BAIBP, but not necessarily BA overall.

Not in mine. And not by a long shot.

Hang on. Back in 2 min with my last bunch of games.

886 CPU fouls over my last 32 games. That's 27.69 per game.

My only pitching changes over this span have been User Control (5 to 4) and User Consistency (5 to 3)...in relation to fouls anyway. I've made a few other changes as well (solid hits from 5 to 4, fielder run speed from 5 to 4, and fielder arm strength from 5 to 4).

That's awesome. I'll check mine I think I'm right there. (Maybe 13). I have HUM Control and Consistency at 4.

BTW, I'm pitching with Meter - I don't have the patience to learn a whole new pitching system. I can definitely see the allure, and it's fun - in fact I think that strikeouts come a little faster against the CPU with Analog given the pitch movement and dynamics.

I'll review my fouls after the Brewer game finishes.

I'll have to keep posting these stats, but judging by what you guys are saying it might be that my foul balls are a bit low and CPU's are high?

I'm really struggling to get extra base hits. I'm considering putting solid hits back up to 4. The only problem I saw with solid hits at 4 was that I was inside outting a ton of strong hits. If I'm jammed I shouldn't be hitting lasers.

Annnyways, I'm still having a blast. Some slight tweaks here or there might help make my experience more realistic, but I want to get a good sample set before I decide to make any changes.

                        Skow,

Unless you track at least 15 games, CPU fouls should probably stay.

User fouls on the other hand, including myself, I have no idea.

I'd raise them in a second, but if your/my timing is WAY off, even at 10, raising user fouls won't make those balls magically get fisted off. In fact, raising it could INCREASE strike outs by extending at bats.

In my case, I'm estimating that I'm around 20 or so user fouls, and 18 or so misses per game. It's close enough, as long as the more crucial stats (H/9, BB/9, and K/9) are within range. Especially if overall CPU pitch counts aren't effected.

In your case, 9 per game is unacceptable. Especially if that trend continues. It's too bad you can't reference your already played games to see where you've been over a longer period. That said, I've never seen less than 10 in a single game. I'm sure on that. Either way, if you're not seeing approximately 36-41 combined user misses and fouls...let's say 32 minimum, CPU pitch counts will be too low overall. At that point, I'd consider raising pitch speed (as hard as that may be to stomach).

Pitch speed will increase fouls for the user? My problem with pitch speed is that even at 2 I'm having trouble turning on any fastball inside. I understand I shouldn't be getting around on big fastballs, but with my timing/reaction time, I'm fisting off everything the other way that's on the inside corner of the plate.

I'm finally back playing games again.. I've been a little busy lately, and the only time I've been able to spend with The Show was used up fixing 40-man rosters and tweaking lineups for my new franchise.

I've decided to just go the traditional route, and just stick with the Braves for most of my games. I want to get a few seasons in before next year's game, and I don't think I'll get there if I don't start soon. Although, I will sprinkle in a few AL games whenever I'm feeling froggy.

Thanks to everyone who's been sharing stats and adding to the discussion lately.

Here's the Box Score from my first game..

Yeah, I had to pull the trigger too, Jgainsey. I have the same goal, as I want to see Montero and Banuelos develop enough to get the call.

7 BB, huh? Nice! Did you decide to go with 3 for User Consistency?

Yes, I did. And I think I like it.

Btw, I'm currently 7 innings through a no-hit bid with Tommy Hanson! I had to take a quick stretch...

You can definitely still dominate with consistency at 3... I'll update you guys later.
