Re: HOF Sliders/Statistics Disscussion
Hope that helps, sorry I couldn't get you the exact numbers from my played games.
Some comments/questions, as I attempt to dial my set in:
You're on pace for 54 errors, the RL Cubs committed 126 last season, and the lowest in the NL was 72. A bump in throwing errors?
I was thinking the same thing. Errors don't seem to be occurring at a realistic rate, at least for the Cubbies.
Human K's (batting) are right on the money. Although it seems the other teams CPU simulated may be a little low.
Agreed.
You're on pace for 416 BB allowed. Last years cubs gave up 605, while the Phillies surrendered 416. I'd assume the majority of those are also from the simmed games. Curious, how many hits have you allowed in played games? What are your average total pitch counts? Also, whats a typical K:BB ration, and how many CPU fouls per game? HUM pitching always seems to be the toughest (and most frustrating) to dial in.
I can't get the exact number of hits from my played games right now. I believe the lowest amount of hits I've allowed is 4 or so, max of 11 or 12. Seems to vary pretty well.
I try and paint the corners and have been working on not giving in on hitters counts to allow for a more realistic walks/game number. I'd say lately it's been something that has been working. My last start with Dempster I had 4 BB's and 6 K's. The game I was just playing, I had 4 BB's with Cashner through the first 4 innings.
Typical K:BB ratio would probably be 3:1. If I had to guess.
Hard to say with the foul balls per game, I'd say 10-15.
Typical pitch count varies depending on the starter. I usually let my top three starters get near the 100 pitch mark. I have Zambrano on a shorter leash than Garza/Dempster. Wells I usually let get between the 80-90 pitch mark, and he usually never lasts past the 6th for me unless he's getting a lot of quick outs. Cashner is tough for me. Because he is a strikeout pitcher his pitch count rises pretty quickly. His energy is not that high so he's usually pretty tired around the 75 pitch count, which usually means I'm pushing him pretty hard through the latter part of the 5th/6th innings.
What's you OBP, and how many pitches are opposing pitchers averaging against you.
I can't pinpoint my exact OBP, but I usually see at least 1 BB/game. Admittedly, my patience leaves a lot to be desired, so I'm usually pretty happy if I see 3 or 4 BB's in the course of a game. I do a pretty decent job working counts, I just usually give in on a ball 4 way too often.
Depends on the pitcher really. Sometimes the opposing SP is peppering the strike zone so they are getting through innings pretty quickly, other times they are picking their spots and racking up 20 pitches in an inning. I'd say the average amount of pitches I see in an inning is somewhere around 12.
Your extra base hits seem low (assuming many of the triples came with simmed games) Have you considered lowering Fielder speed, but raising Reaction (to cut down on infield singles)?
Actually, I believe I've hit every single triple. I would love to see more seeing eye singles. That was my attempt by lowering the solid hits slider, but there are still too many instances of defenders getting to balls they probably shouldn't get to IRL. I'd like to see more bloop hits/IF singles/etc. Maybe making your suggested changes would help the hit variety.
And yes, I haven't gotten that many extra base hits. It seems like every time I drive the ball it is directly at a fielder or they take a good route at the ball and cut it off, holding me to a single.
What's the CPU's typical K:BB ration in games played?
Typical K:BB for the CPU is probably 4:1 or maybe even 5:1. But I think that is more my fault than the sliders. I need to be more patient in 3 ball counts and actually take my walk rather than trying to hit anything around the plate.
