Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

posting stats from todays game but my phone wont load the template so I apologize for that:

    TEX @ NYM (me)

    TEX 7 13 2
    NYM 9 19 3

Offensive explosion. The varied games with these sliders have been good. Had trouble scoring and then this game all of a sudden 9 runs and 19 hits! It was 2-1 me going in to the 5th and then it was just base hits galore. Wright and Davis homered. Cedeno went 5-5. TEX got a home run from Kinsler and scored 2 of their 5 on a throwing error by Ike Davis. Hamilton and Beltre back to back HR's in the 9th to cut the lead to 2.

I should mention for this game I tried what others have suggested and used "catcher classic" as the batting view and what a difference it made!!! I was much better at picking up where the pitch was going to go and if it was a ball or strike.

id say that 7 of them were pitches that were clearly out of the SZ that were called strike 3's... id say maybe 4 or 5 were due to bad selection.. the rest i just whiffed on cuz i cant seem to get the timing right to actually hit the ball.. IF i actually hit the ball its either a flyout, infield ground ball or line drive thats caught before it leaves the infield.. i just get so frustrated by the end of the game because i should have 11-12 hits per game.. i only have one player batting higher than .300 on my team..everyone else is in the .100-.200 range.. i should also mention that that 16 strike out game was a rarity.. ive only struck out maybe 8-9 times combined in my other games

        My changing and reasoning

I up'ed user and cpu solid hits to 5 due to too many infield pop ups and ground outs. Now comparing this game with my last it was more realistic once I up'ed them two. I feel that even though it may be harder to stop some cpu teams while they have solid hits at 5 that is when solid pitching comes into play and knowing when to take your pitcher out.

Everything else remains the same and honestly at this point I don't think I am changing anything else. I play the Red Sox in my next series so I will really be tested and see how well I like my changes once I play the Sox's

Ok obviously you will all notice I swapped teams with the pitchers + batters and they should be reversed......lol but I am sure you will all understand it anyway

I have to agree with most of the other comments, this game plays awesome out of the box!! That being said, these sliders make just the right amount of tweaks so that this game plays amazing. Below are a couple things I have noticed....

-Pitching is really good, I dont get that many K's though, particularly from my starters.
-Not seeing many errors at all....I was thinking about moving the errors (both throwing and fielding) up to 6. Do you see any issues with doing this? Are you all seeing the right amount of errors with it at 5?
-I have left solid hit at 5 for both human and comp and this seems to be good for my style of play.

            Great job guys!

Giving these a go right now, will post the box score when finished.

Had to stop to go out to dinner, but playing as the Yankees, stopped in the top of the 3rd versus the Rays and I had 3 HR's... Lead off HR with Jeter in the first and then a 2 run jack by a-rod and followed right after by Cano.

Another extra inning 1 run show down between the Red Sox and the Tigers. Sox once again drop one in extras to go 0-2 on the season. I pitched pretty well in this one aside from giving up back to back homers in the 4th. Made the pitching changes and find the AI really does give you more to chase that way. Realistic imo.

Again it's only a couple games but I don't see these sliders getting tweaked too much. Loving the game so far. Good work TNK

1- From my top pitchers I average about 4-7 K's per 7 innings

2- I was thinking the same although I had a few games in light rain where the CPU made 3 throwing errors and I made 1 which makes me to believe 5 is probably good enough but in normal whether I suppose you can try although remember these are pro's and usually they don't average more then 1 error per game maybe two tops

3- If you relate to my post early today which was a few before your post you'll see I bumped my user and cpu solid hits to 5 and I get more of a realistic game

Mikey, thanks for your response. I had noticed your posts regarding the solid hit slider, I think this is the way to go. You are probably right regarding errors, there really arent very many in the game as all these guys are bada**es but occasionally you will see a game where there are quite a few and I just do not think you will ever see that in a game with slider at 5....could be wrong though. This really is one of the best games I have ever played and I am enjoying every minute of it!! Thanks for all the work you guys have put into this set. Now I have just got to work on my hitting!

Once again these sliders are awesome, just like every other year. The game plays really well out of the box and with these sliders the game is almost a mirror image of the real MLB. If you haven't tried these sliders try them ASAP!

                      Great work man.

Just played a pretty solid game pitching wise. I only got 5 hits and scored 2 runs, but my patience won this game for me. I played as the Orioles. I had a hard time picking up Strasburg's stuff at first, but I still stayed patient at the plate working a lot of full counts. Strasburg's pitch count finally started getting to him at the start of the 5th inning. He began the inning already at 90 pitches. Chris Davis led off the inning with a single to center field, followed by Endy Chavez with a single to right field. Up next was Brian Roberts who also singled to right field to load up the bases with J.J. Hardy coming to the plate. 3-1 count with Hardy and Strasburg throws ball four low in the dirt to walk in a run. That was the end for Strasburg. Tom Gorzelanny came on in relief and got Nick Markakis to strike out on an 0-2 slider low and away. Adam Jones came to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Endy Chavez. The inning ended with Matt Wieters grounding out to second base. Solid pitching all the way through this one though. Pretty solid performance from Jake Arrieta who went 6 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Luis Ayala pitched 2 scoreless innings, followed by the closer Jim Johnson nailing down the save in the 9th on back-to-back strikeouts of Jayson Werth and Ryan Zimmerman. Adam LaRoche grounded out to the pitcher to end the game.
