Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Anyways, don't worry abou swing yet, just follow the motion of the pitcher. If he sways right and left and release, mimic this motion and keep him framed. The key is to have the reads perfectly framed when the ball is released. Then flow the ball without worrying about a swing.
You will immediately notice two things. If the ball tried to leave that framed zone really quickly, it is most likely going to be a ball, if it lingers in the frame a bit longer most likely it will be a strike. Don't swing at 20 in a row and make a guess each pitch on ball or strike.
Once you get. Comfortable moving CPI, try taking a few swings, lay off the just that darts out quickly from your frame and swing at the others. Note how close your PCI is to the end location. Even if you don't hit the ball perfect, you are probably a lot closer than you used to be.
Lastly is the timing, if you have good timing, the PCI does not need to be perfect.
Anyways, it works for me and made me feel in control of the at bats. Yes you will still get good contact, good timing, and still get an out, but that is baseball. key though is the PCI indicator. It helps you know that you are following the pit h properly. Good luck!Comment

I tried using your camera and its 100 times easier to read the pitches. And your sliders are really good.Comment

You don't need to move the left stick... I use ZONE and I do not touch the left stick at all... I've played this way ever since last year when TNK & Psycho mentioned that movement of the left stick is not needed... Last game I played I had 2 HR's and 3 2B's.Last edited by The Kid 24; 03-19-2012, 01:45 PM.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

True. I have tried Zone in the past and haven't moved the left stick, but I always felt I got better results with Timing. I'll give it a shot again though and check it out.Comment

You might as well just use timing if you arent moving the L stick at all. As for the game you hit 2 hrs, you just got lucky and the cpu threw the ball right down the middle.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

CORRECT. Moving around influences where you want to hit the ball. If the computer is moving their PCI around the zone, why aren't you?Comment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Finally won a game with these sliders!!! I got too excited and flipped my controller on the floor in a victory dance and, it bumped the ps3 and froze it up so i am unable to post the official stats (next time ill control myself). This was the most realistic game ive had yet, balls were hit in akward spots where the outfielders had trouble getting to them(some were caught, some dropped) liight bloopers barely flew over the infileders gloves and plopped down in shallow outfield, the infielders reaction to low line-drives were spot-on, and everything felt like a live game atmosphere.
I was the Indians against the Blue Jays, Jimenez vs Romero, Jays had a few hits early on, but no runs, the game was scoreless until the 4th inn, when i hit a solo HR with S.Duncan off a high fastbal from Romero. Later in the 7 th inn, Bautista blasted a hanging fly ball off the rightfield wall , batting in a run that was on 2nd, from a fatigued Jimenez fastball. Later in the 9th, tied 1-1 Cabrerra singled and stole 2nd, Hafner flied out but advanced Cabrerra to 3rd. Hannahan hit a chooper that bounced high over the pitchers head scoring Cabrerra. Sipp allowed Bautista a double, but closed down the remaining side for the win.
This game was played with timing only hitting, TNK's customer cam and the exact slider set. What a game.Buckeyes-- Indians-- Browns-- Cavs

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Switched to Zone (without moving the PCI, same as last year) and its night and day, double, x-base hits are back finally lol.
As Northface says. Timing leaves you at the mercy of the game too much, it seems to put the PCI wherever it feels like it...at least with Zone you always know where it will be.Last edited by The Kid 24; 03-19-2012, 02:55 PM.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
Man it's STILL difficult to get hits and runs...but not difficult to "hit". I often square off the ball great and hit it hard. PAst 2 games as the Angels...I won 1-0 & lost 2-1. I've been getting around 6-8 hits per game...which Isn't great, but the runs are not there. EVER! I have moved hitting to VETERAN...solid hits to 5 for both HUMAN & CPU...and lowered pitch speed to 3.Comment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
That is absolutely incorrect... Both of the HR's I had were not down the middle... Both balls I hit out were near the top edge of that players PCI and 1 HR was hit with ok timing and the other was with just early timing.
This is what Psycho posted last year in the TNK/Psycho 2011 sliders... I absolutely agree with this because it is still true this year.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
See your talking out of both sides of your mouth here. Your saying it doesnt matter if you move the L stick but then are saying with timing it will move the "hitters zone" CPI or whatever it is called away from the ball. You cant have it both ways. If it didnt matter if you move the L stick it shouldnt matter if the CPI is being moved away from the ball. The whole concept of the CPI zone is what zone hitting is. You move the CPI zone to where you think the ball is going to go. I have been using zone for weeks now and i have yet to once make good contact with the zone not where the ball is.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread
With timing that is true about the PCI being moved wherever... Use timing and watch what it does... I'll swing at a pitch that is near the top of the strike zone but when the swing info is displayed on the next pitch... The PCI will be at the bottom of the strike zone... Nowhere close to where the ball was thrown.
In zone it is all about where you place the PCI. Put it on the ball and you will have good or even great contact. Dont put it on the ball and you are more then likely to miss the ball.
I will tell you I hit a HR last night with Dunn in which i didnt have the PCI on the ball and still hit a HR so it is possible. Not likely but possible.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Yes correct because in timing you dont control the PCI, it doesnt matter where you put the PCI it is not used.

Thats why I don't move the PCI... Because I use the Brewers for my franchise and just about everyone has good contact ratings so the PCI pretty much covers up the whole strike zone anyway except the 4 corners of the strike zone and I still make good/really good contact. So there is no need for me to move the PCI.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment
