    TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BOSTON RED SOX @ BALTIMORE ORIOLES
GAME #44 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Felix Doubront vs. Brian Matusz)

The Red Sox and Orioles play the second game of this series as a pair of young lefties take the mound with Felix Doubront getting the ball for Boston against Brian Matusz for Baltimore. The Red Sox came out swinging the bats in the top of the 1st as Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz singled with one out and Adrian Gonzalez got the start in RF and continued to swing a hot stick as he doubled into the gap to score Pedroia with the games 1st run as Boston took a 1-0 lead. Kevin Youkilis was up next and he hit his 3rd HR in the last two games as he took a fastball from Matusz the opposite way for a 3-run HR to give the Sox an early 4-0 lead. Chris Davis got the Orioles on the board with two gone in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a solo HR to CF to cut the Boston lead to 4-1. The Orioles threatened in the bottom of the 3rd but Doubront got Nick Markakis to ground out to end the inning and strand a runner at 3rd base as we would head to the 4th inning with Boston on top 4-1. Kevin Youkilis remained red hot as he led off the top of the 4th with a double down the LF line and he moved up to 3rd as he tagged on a sac fly to deep CF by Middlebrooks. Cody Ross hit an RBI single to LF to score Youkilis and extend the Sox lead to 5-1. Doubront got Davis to ground out to end the 4th inning and we would head to the 5th with the Red Sox in control with a 5-1 lead. Both Matusz and Doubront got through the 5th inning unscathed and we would move along to the 6th inning. Darren O'Day pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 6th for Baltimore. Doubront cruised through the bottom of the 6th and we would go to the 7th inning with Boston still leading 5-1. Troy Patton came in to pitch the top of the 7th for the O's and retired the side in order. Doubront was mowing the Orioles down and recorded the 1st two outs of the 7th before Chris Davis launched his 2nd solo HR of the game to make it 5-2. Doubront got Wilson Betemit to ground out to Middlebrooks at 3rd to end the inning and we would go to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 5-2. Kevin Gregg pitched the top of the 8th for Baltimore. Vicente Padilla took over on the mound for Doubront to begin the bottom of the 8th for Boston and surrendered a leadoff single to Wieters but rebounded to get Endy Chavez to hit into a tailor made 6-4-3 double play. Padilla struck out Robert Andino looking to end the inning and send it to the 9th inning. Kevin Gregg pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th and the Orioles would come to bat trailing by 3 runs. Bobby Valentine would stick with Padilla to begin the bottom of the 9th with a 3 run lead as his closer Alfredo Aceves was ready in the pen but has been unsed heavily lately and could use the rest. Padilla struck out markakis for the 1st out and then allowed a single to Mark Reynolds. Adam Jones would fly out to Byrd in CF for the 2nd out and the Orioles were down to their final out. JJ Hardy came up and he doubled to LF to keep the Orioles alive and the tying run would come to the plate in Chris Davis who already had 2 HRs in the game. Bobby Valentine came out and made the move to his closer looking for one out to end the game as Aceves made his way in. Davis hit a groundball up the middle but Dstin Pedroia was there to make the play and throw to Youkilis at 1st for the final out as the Red Sox hold on for a 5-2 victory and have taken the first two games of the series.

    * Dustin Pedroia returned to the lineup after missing 3 games with an injury and went 1 for 3

    * Kevin Youkilis went 2 for 3 with a HR, a double, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Youkilis has been on fire through the first two games of this series going 6 for 10 with 3 HR, 2 Doubles, 6 RBI and 5 runs scored.

    * Cody Ross was injured late in the game and has been placed on the 15-Day DL with a Pulled Hamstring. The Red Sox called up OF Daniel Nava from AAA Pawtucket to take Ross spot on the roster.

        TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BOSTON RED SOX @ BALTIMORE ORIOLES
GAME #45 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Daniel Bard vs. Tommy Hunter)

The Red Sox and Orioles play the finale of this 3 game set in the rain with the Red Sox looking for the sweep. Tommy Hunter was perfect through the 1st two innings as the Red Sox could not get a baserunner. Daniel Bard was also impressive early as the game would head to the 3rd inning tied 0-0. Hunter set the Red Sox down in order and he was perfect through 3 innings on the mound. Dustin Pedroia picked up the Sox 1st hit of the game as he doubled with one out in the top of the 4th. Adrian Gonzalez followed with a single to CF but Pedroia was thrown out at the plate on a great throw by Adam Jones and the game would remain tied 0-0. Adam Jones would follow up his big play in the field by hitting a solo HR down the LF line in the bottom of the 4th to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead. Hunter set the Red Sox down in order in the top of the 5th and Nolan Reimold would launch a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 5th to give Baltimore a 3-0 lead heading into the 6th inning. Tommy Hunter continued his dominance as he pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 6th. Daniel Bard would pitch around a walk to Mark Reynolds in the bottom of the 6th and the game would head to the 7th inning with Baltimore leading 3-0. Tommy Hunter continued to roll as the Red Sox went down in order again in the top of the 7th. Daniel Bard issued a leadoff walk to Betemit to begin the bottom of the 7th but got Robert Andino to hit into a 6-4-3 double play and that would end the night for Bard as he would leave after throwing 100 pitches. Scott Atchison would come on in relief of Bard and got Reimold to ground out to end the inning and we would head to the 8th inning with the Orioles on top 3-0. David Ortiz thought he had a solo HR to leadoff the 8th but the ball hooked just foul and he would eventually ground out. Hunter retired Saltalamacchia and Sweeney to end the top of the 8th to make it 8 shutout innings as Hunter has held the Red Sox to just two hits as he has been masterful thus far. Nick Markakis extended the Orioles lead to 4-0 with a solo HR in the bottom of the 8th and we would go to the 9th inning with the Red Sox trailing 4-0. Tommy Hunter would remain in the game for the 9th inning looking for the complete game shutout and started the inning by whiffing Daniel Nava for the 1st out. Will Middlebrooks would pinch hit for Nick Punto and fly out to deep CF for the 2nd out and Boston was down to their final out. Jacoby Ellsbury was up next and he grounded out to Davis at 1st base for the final out as the Orioles win 4-0 behind a two hit shutout from Tommy Hunter.

        * Tommy Hunter was masterful in this game as he held the Red Sox to 2 hits on his way to a complete game shutout. This was the best pitching performance by any CPU opponent against me so far this year. I couldn't do anything against him.

        * The Red Sox take 2 of the 3 games in Baltimore and went 5-3 on their 8 game road trip. The Red Sox get a much needed off day after playing 20 games in 20 days and will return home for a 3 game series with Tampa Bay. The Red Sox and Rays will begin their series tied with identical records of 26-19 and each 1 game back of the Yankees in the AL East.

          TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

TAMPA BAY RAYS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #46 of the season (Pitching Matchup - James Shields vs. Jon Lester)

The Red Sox and Rays begin a 3 game series at Fenway Park and they enter the series tied for 2nd place in the AL East as both teams have identical records of 26-19 and trail the 1st place Yankees by 1 game. The Rays will send James Shields to the mound against Jon Lester who has had his struggles of late. Jon Lester retired the first six Rays batters he faced as he looked very sharp early. Adrian Gonzalez led off the bottom of the 2nd inning and he gave the Red Sox a 1-0 lead as he took a fastball from Shields the opposite way into the monster seats for a solo HR. Jon Lester picked up 2 K's in the top of the 3rd and made it 9 striaght Rays he sat down to open the game. Mike Aviles drew a 10 pitch walk to leadoff the bottom of the 3rd and Jacoby Ellsbury dropped down a bunt single to give the Sox two men on with nobody out. Dustin Pedroia sacrificed the runners over into scoring position and David Ortiz would ground out to Pena at 1st base and pickup the RBI as Aviles would score to make it 2-0. Adrian Gonzalez would ground out to end the inning and we would head to the 4th inning with the Red Sox leading 2-0. Lester had retired the first 10 Rays hitters of the game before Jeff Keppinger singled to LF and Evan Longoria hit a bomb that cleared the monster seats in LF for a 2-run HR to tie the game at 2-2. Shields got Ryan Sweeney to hit into a double play to end the bottom of the 4th and we would go to the 5th inning tied at 2-2. The Rays took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 5th with two outs when Lester left a fastball out over the plate to Sean Rodriguez who hit a solo HR into the CF bleachers. James Shields retired the Red Sox in order in the bottom of the 5th and we would move to the 6th with Tampa leading 3-2. The wheels fell off for Lester in the 6th as Ben Zobrist lef off the with a wall ball double and came in to score on an RBI single by Keppinger to make it 4-2. Evan Longoria was up next and blasted the 1st pitch he saw down the LF line for his 2nd two run HR of the game and just like the the Rays had a 6-2 lead. Carlos Pena was up next and he made it back to back HR's to make it 7-2. Matt Albers would relieve Lester with two outs in the top of the 6th and struck out Sean Rodriguez to mercifully bring the inning to and end. The Red Sox got a run back in the bottom of the 6th as Kevin Youkilis lined an RBI single to CF to cut the Rays lead to 7-3. Matt Albers gave the Sox a much needed 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th. James Shields sat the Red Sox down in order in the bottom of the 7th and we would go to the 8th inning with the Red Sox trailing 7-3. Evan Longoria led off the 8th inning and Albers sent a message by putting a fastball right between the numbers on Longoria's back. Matt Joyce should've hit into an inning ending double play but Youkilis air mailed the throw to 2nd base into RF and the Rays would have two men in scoring position with one out. Albers would walk Luke Scott to load the bases and Desmond Jennings blew the game wide open with a grand slam to extend the Rays lead to 11-3. Rich Hill woul relieve Albers and get the final two outs to stop the bleeding. Shields pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 8th to send the game to the 9th with Tampa crushing the Red Sox by a score off 11-3. Rich Hill pitched a clean inning in the top of the 9th for Boston. The Rays would go to Jake McGee for the bottom of the 9th with an 8 run lead andhe would close it out as the Rays take game one of this series by a score of 11-3.

          * This was the worst loss of the year for the Red Sox and they drop to 3rd place in the AL East. The Sox will look to rebound tomorrow as Josh Beckett takes the hill against David Price in a great pitching matchup

          * Jon Lester continues to struggle as he served up 4 HR in the game and drops to 4-5 on the season with an ERA of 5.06

          * There were 2 different strike zones in this game for Shields and Lester. Lester threw a few pitches that were clearly strike 3 that were called balls and Shields got a few called for strike 3 that were clearly off the plate.

          * OF Darnell McDonald came off the DL after the game and the Red Sox sent OF Daniel Nava back to AAA Pawtucket.

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

Gotta say TNK, while I've left all other sliders at default, I put CPU Pitcher Control at 4, Consistency at 4 and Strike Frequency at 3 as you have in your slider set and they seem to work very well. I had played 15-20 franchise games with the Orioles on All-Star with Analog Hitting and Pulse Pitching and was only averaging about 1.5-1.7 walks per game on default. Felt like I was being pretty patient at the plate, but the CPU was pounding the strike zone relentlessly at times.

Have played about 10 games since changing the CPU pitching sliders to yours, and I've averaged about 3 walks per game in those contests. Sounds realistic to me.

I do have one question for you, since you've used these settings for a lot larger sample size than me. Have you had any issue at all with the CPU not throwing ENOUGH first-pitch strikes with their Strike Frequency at 3? I haven't, but have a much smaller sample size than you obviously.

            Just curious.

No....not really, it varies which is good

Some games they pound the strike zone........some games they struggle

Cool... Good to hear. Just wanted to see what you had observed over 45-50 games in your franchise.

Any suggestions for sliders with pulse pitching and analog hitting? This game is becoming extremely frustrating and is close to getting shelved.

                    TNK.

                    What's your take on BB's?

Looking at your 40 game stats, when hitting you're drawing only 1.8 per game and when pitching you're giving up a very nice 1.9 per game.

im thinking BB's are a little poor for hum in this game, is not a sliders faults.
after 30 games in my franchise with cons and control both 1 for cpu and strike freq at 2 im last in team ranking with a 15 bb's gap from 29th team...

What skill level are you playing on, and what is bothering you?

I didn't bump up to All-Star full-time until this year myself, and have been playing this game for three years now. This game will humble you quickly, that's for sure. I can't say I haven't thrown down my controller a time or two, lol.

Any info on your skill level and difficulties you're having would be helpful in suggesting some sliders for you.

                          TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

TAMPA BAY RAYS @ BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #47 of the season (Pitching Matchup - David Price vs. Josh Beckett)

The Red Sox and Rays play the second game of this series with David Price and Josh Beckett set to take the mound. David Ortiz gave the Sox an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning as he wrapped a solo HR around the Pesky pole in RF. The Red Sox got singles from Gonzalez and Youkilis before Price would strike out Will Middlebrooks to end the inning but nor before he needed 27 pitches to get trhough the 1st and we would go to the 2nd inning with Boston leading 1-0. Beckett issued back to back walks to Luke Scott and BJ Upton in the top of the 2nd and the Rays would tie the game on an RBI single by Sean Rodrgiuez to make it 1-1. Elliott Johnson would add an RBI single to put the Rays on top 2-1 as the walks came back to bite Beckett. Price made quick work of the Red Sox in the bottom of the 2nd and we would head to the 3rd inning with Tampa Bay leading 2-1. Beckett walked Desmond Jennings to lead off the 3rd and he would come around to score on a sac fly by Luke Scott to make it 3-1. Jacoby Ellsbury singled to leadoff the bottom of the 3rd and came around to score on an RBI single by David Ortiz. Adrian Gonzalez singled to give the Sox two men on with one out for Youkilis who would strike out for the 2nd out. Price would get Middlebrooks to ground out to end the inning and we would move to the 4th inning with the Rays up 3-2. Beckett pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 4th as his pitch count approached 80 pitches through 4 innings of work on the mound. The Rays picked up another run in the top of the 5th on a sac fly by Luke Scott to make it 4-2. David Price issued back to back walks to Pedroia and Ortiz with one out in the bottom of the 5th. Adrian Gonzalez would fly out to Upton in deep CF to bring up Youkilis with two outs and Youkilis would single to LF to score Pedroia and make it a 4-3 game. Will Middlebrooks followed with an RBI single to LF to tie the game at 4-4. Price would get Marlon Byrd to fly out to RF to end the inning as he was up over 100 pitches as the game would head to the 6th inning tied at 4-4. Beckett retired the side in order on 6 pitches in the top of the 6th and he was also over the 100 pitch mark. Joel Peralta relieved Price to begin the bottom of the 7th and issued a leadoff walk to Kely Shoppach before getting Mike Aviles to ground into a double play. Peralta got Ellsbury to ground out to end the 6th and we would head to the 7th inning tied 4-4. Beckett remained in the game and pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th to finish his day strong as he retired the last 7 hitters he faced. Peralta hit Ortiz with one out in the bottom of the 7th and struck out Adrian Gonzalez and Kevin Youkilis to get out of the inning unscathed as we would head to the 8th inning tied at 4-4. Franklin Morales would come on to pitch the top of the 8th for Boston and gave up a leadoff single to Carlos Pena. Morales would strike out Luke Scott before BJ Upton hit a double on a pitch the was in on his fists to give the Rays runners at the corners with one out. Jeff Keppinger would pinch hit for Jose Molina and the Red Sox would counter by going to Vicente Padilla out of the pen. Upton would steal 2nd base to take away the possibility of a double play. The Red Sox pulled the infield in and Keppinger would hit a groundball to Pedroia who fired home and Pena was out as he plowed over Kelly Shoppach at the plate and Shoppach held on to the ball for a huge out. Sean Rodriguez was up next and Padilla would escape the jam as he got Rodriguez to ground out to end the inning and we would go to the bottom of the 8th tied 4-4. Burke Badenhop took over on the mound for Tampa to begin the bottom of the 8th and he made quick work of the Red Sox to send the game to the 9th inning tied at 4-4. Ben Zobrist made a bid to break the tie as he took a ball high off the green monster for a double with one out in the top of the 9th. Padilla would catch Jennings looking at 94 mph fastball on the corner for the 2nd out. Bobby Valentine would call for the intentional walk of Evan Longoria with 1st base open and made the move to Andrew Miller on the mound for the lefty lefty matchup with Carlos Pena coming up. Miller blew Pena away with 3 straight fastballs at 95 mph on the outside corner to end the inning and give the a chance to win it in the bottom of the 9th. Mike Aviles led off the bottom of the 9th with a single to RF and Jacoby Ellsbury would bunt him into scoring position. Dustin Pedroia was up next and he grounded out for the 2nd out as Aviles moved up to 3rd base. David Ortiz came up next with a chance to be the hero and he hit the ball hard but right at Zobrist to end the inning and this game was headed to extra innings. Miller issued a one out walk to BJ Upton. Jose Lobaton followed with a single to RF and Upton was gunned out at 3rd base by Adrian Gonzalez who got the start in RF today for the 2nd out. Miller got Sean Rodriguez to end the top of the 10th. Burke Badenhop cruised through his 3rd inning of relief in the bottom of the 10th and we would head to the 11th inning still tied 4-4. Andrew Miller pitched another strong 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 11th. Badenhop remained in the game and Marlon Byrd led off the bottom of the 11th with an infield single on a slow roller down the 3rd base line as he just beat the throw from Longoria. Kelly Shoppach was up next and he bunted Byrd up into scoring position. Mike Aviles thought he had the game winning hit but Desmond Jennings made a fantastic running catch in the gap to rob Aviles for the 2nd out. Jacoby Ellsbury thought he won the game as he ripped a single to RF but the ball was hit too hard and Matt Joyce nailed Byrd at the plate to end the inning and send the game to the 12th inning. Evan Longoria led off the top of the 12th with a single and Bobby Valentine would stick with Miller as the Rays had a couple lefties coming up. Miller would strikeout Pena looking at a filthy back door slider for the 1st out and got Scott swinging for the 2nd out. BJ Upton was up next and Miller stuck him out to make it 3 straight K's to end the top of the 12th. Joe Maddon stuck with Badenhoip to begin the bottom of the 12th and Dustin Pedroia reached on a throwing error by Zobrist to leadoff the inning. The Red Sox were not going to bunt with David Ortiz and Pedroia was thrown out trying to steal as Lobaton made a great throw. Ortiz would go down swinging for the 2nd out and Gonzalez would ground out to end the inning and we would head to the 13th inning still locked in a 4-4 tie. Miller struck out Lobaton to begin the 13th for his 4th straight K. Sean Rodriguez would single to CF with one out and stole 2nd base to give the Rays a chance to take the lead. Miller would record another K as he got Matt Joyce swinging for the 2nd out and Bobby Valentine would go to his closer Alfredo Aceves with Ben Zobrist coming up. Zobrist hit a chopper over the mound and beat the throw from Aviles to 1st base to give the Rays runners at the corners with two outs. Desmond Jennings was up next and he lined a ball towards the gap in right center but Jacoby Ellsbury made a great running catch to end the top of the 13th and keep the game tied 4-4. Badenhop continued to roll on the mound as the Red Sox went quietly in the bottom of the 13th and we would head to the 14th inning. Aceves struck out BJ Upton looking with a man on to end the top of the 14th. Burke Badenhop pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 14th and the game would go to the 15th inning still tied up at 4-4. Alfredo Aceves retired the Rays in order in the top of the 15th. JP Howell came on from the Rays pen to start the bottom of the 15th and Dustin Pedroia would leadoff the inning with a single. David Ortiz was up next and he slapped a single to LF to give the Sox two men on with nobody out. Bobby Valentine would call on Ryan Sweney to pinch hit for Adrian Gonzalez and lay down the sac bunt to move the runnners into scoring position. Joe Maddon would call for the intentional walk of Kevin Youkilis to load the bases with one out. Will Middlebrooks came up and blew a golden chance as he popped up for the 2nd out and it would be up to Marlon Byrd with the bases loaded and two outs. Byrd put together a great at bat as he fouled off a few tough pitches and worked himself into a full count to force Howell to need to throw a strike as a walk would win the game. Howell grooved a fastball right down the middle and Byrd turned on it and lined a rocket off the green monster for the walkoff win as Pedroia came home from 3rd base with the winning run as the Red Sox win 5-4 in 15 innings......WHAT A GAME!!!!!

                          * The teams will play the rubber match tomorrow with Clay Buchholz set to face Jeremy Hellickson on the mound.

                          * Adrian Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to 12 games

                          * Both teams bullpens were outstanding in this game as Boston got 8 shutout innings from their pen and Tampa got 9.2 innings of shutout ball from the pen before Byrd's walkoff hit.

                          * Andrew Miller has been amazing out of the bullpen for Boston since his recall from AAA Pawtucket as he has allowed just 1 earned run in 17.2 innings of work on the mound.

Well im hvin his same problems i bat with the analog and play on all star with tnk sliders but for some reason i just cant produce when im gettin solid hits with the analog hittin. So i want to go down to vetran diff. and see if i can see diff i just dont know whats the best sliders fo us analog users bcuz it seems to be diff results using the analog and using the buttons. I hv a good sample size for myself on all star and i just plain suck on this level. I want to keep my pride but i hv to lower the skill level. Its no reason for me to be avg like 4 hits and 1 run vs the computer since i bought this game and i acually be patient at the plate and when i make good contact still nothing. SMH!!
