Re: 2014 OSFM HYBRID UPDATE - V3
Why should it include rounds 1 & 2? What's the rationale behind this? Is it because they're the flavor of the moment? I'm not saying this condescendingly, I'm just trying to understand where people are coming from. We will include some draft picks. I favor balancing the rosters from the top down. To add draft picks means you have to replace others and I don't like putting guys at AAA or AA if they're playing low-A or short season ball.Comment

Why would u have to? It's a couple guys per team. More than the flavor of the moment.. Some of these guys are already advancing to higher level ball. And most have already hit the top prospect lists.Mizzou Tigers

Re: 2014 OSFM HYBRID UPDATE - V3
Yeah, some (out of 74 1st and 2nd rounders, that's a pretty small percentage) of them have advanced and we included them. And they are the flavor of the moment. Some of these guys get over-hyped on arrival and then they slide down or completely off prospect lists. We were pretty judicious as to what draft picks to include and not all were 1st and 2nd rounders. Oftentimes people become so prospect centric that you forget that the unheralded guys make it to the major leagues too. That's what I try to take into account when creating players for organizational depth.Last edited by teeds; 08-09-2014, 02:34 PM.Comment

Actually no I didn't.. I added guys from later rounds too.. Regardless 2-3 players getting added in isn't going to affect AAA and AA that was my point when u said u would have to have them playing in those levels.Mizzou Tigers

Re: 2014 OSFM HYBRID UPDATE - V3
I know what your point is but we're working from two different perspectives here. 2-3 players does matter if you're setting real life lineups for AAA and AA like I've been working through.Comment

Re: 2014 OSFM HYBRID UPDATE - V3
forgive me if this was covered but there are 90 roster spots, that allows for 15 non-OSFM base players per team, so why not make 1-3 of those this years 1-2 round picks?Comment

Re: 2014 OSFM HYBRID UPDATE - V3
No, at least not entire rounds. Probably just a handful of 2014 draftees that are advancing the quickest. Very few have even made full season A ball at this point.

It's fine if you do it one way with your set, but I personally think a mix of top specs and organizational depth is the way to go, so it's not all MLB-ers and 18 year olds.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2014 OSFM HYBRID UPDATE - V3
90 players. 25 on the MLB roster. That's 65 players left. Within that 65, you need basically the entire AAA and AA teams, which is another 50 players. 15 players left. Add in guys who are off the active rosters due to injury--that's another 5-10 players. So, without adding any A-ball talent at all, we've got 5-10 spots to fill with key guys from high A and full season A. Maybe a select guy from low A. But, to get all these 2014 draft picks in, you guys are removing players at the higher levels to make the math work. That's fine, but that's not what we're doing with this roster.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment
