As far as pitching, (I also have a Mets franchise), after several games, I went back to 3 and 4 (and started that franchise over). With pitch speed at 5 and 7, I lost game 1 5-4. I got 10 hits including 2 homers. In game 2 I survived giving up 4 runs in the 7th and won 6-5. I got 12 hits including 4 homers. In this game I was up 5-0 after 3 and had hit 3 homers. I had 8 hits after 3. I switched to 6 and 8 in the 5th and was held to 4 hits and 1 homer over the last 5 innings. I think my pitching sliders are locked in at 3 and 4 for control and consistency. And I'm going to lock in at 6 and 8 and take my lumps initially with contact back down to 5. I'll let you know how Game 1 of my Yankee franchise goes - if I ever finish it! I appreciate your feedback
Finished game 1 and won 5-1. This is with pitch speed at 6 and 8 and human contact at 5. I scored a run in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd and 2 in the 8th. Had other opportunities but hit in to 3 double plays and couldn't get a clutch hit. I ended up with 10 hits, no homers and 3 doubles. I struck out 11 times, 9 times by swinging WAY too early on low changeups as I was too geared up for the fastball. I know there will be struggles as I adjust, but I believe these are the right settings for me. On to game 2!

That sounds pretty good. Again, as Armor always preaches, there will be stretches of great hitting and slumps as well!

And I swear I wish there was a double play slider. I've only played 7 games and already have 11 more double plays than the second highest double play team. I'm also third in the lead in walks so it has nothing to do with taking pitches or being too aggressive. I am very patient. Usually, my ultimate goal in any game is to get the starting pitcher about by the 6th. Regardless, I hit into at LEAST two a game it seems.

I hit in to quite a few double plays, especially at the higher pitch speed, but in my case it is 100% human error. I'm just too impatient with runners on base, especially when I get in to hitter's counts. It just happened to me now in game 2. I'm up 3-1 going in to the bottom of the 3rd. Runner on 1st and 2nd and nobody out. I have McCullers on the ropes as he is already at 60 pitches. With Beltran at the plate I work the count to 3-1. I get the fastball I'm sitting on, but it is high, borderline strike, and I foul out to the 3B. Then with McCann at the plate, I'm up 2-0 and sitting on fastball and ready to belt it in to the 3rd deck. He throws the fastball, but it's below my knees and I swing and ground in to the inning ending double play. I just need more patience in these situations

          Armor, or to anyone,

How much does pitch speed affect base stealing? Was thinking upping fastball speed to default 5 since 3 is too easy for me.

Armor, do you find these play fine with the hybrid roster set since they are edited a little different from OSFM?

How much do human control and consistency sliders affect strikeouts? I started my Yankee franchise over with these at 3 and 4. Have played 2 games against the Astros and won both games 5-1 and 7-5. The Astros struck out 15 times in the first game and 12 times in game 2. They got 4 hits in game 1 and 9 hits in game 2. Would lowering these 2 sliders reduce strikeouts? I use no human "skill" to pitching. I listen to catcher 100% of the time and tap x. I have experimented with these two sliders lower than 3 and 4 but found my starters throwing WAY to many pitches. So just wondering what the impacts are by lowering these sliders based on the way I pitch. Thanks

You have a big inning and that makes it too easy? Maybe that starter didn't have his best stuff?

I had a game recently where I got 4 runs in the first......and NOTHING after. They got three runs right back....and NOTHING until they tied it in the 6th (my starter got hurt in the 2nd so LR was working).

Not every game is going to be a nice even flow. Sometimes you'll blow them out, sometimes they'll blow you out. I've won 12-2 and got smoked 14-0. It happens.

Trying to set sliders based on one game is just going to leave more questions than answers, imo.

It depends. I don't think they directly impact K's. What they impact is how often you'll hit your intended location with the pitch. Control can have some impact as that helps determine if the hitter "was fooled" by the pitch...but that doesn't necessarily mean strikeout either.

Whether or not that leads to K's or BB's depends on a lot of factors, some not related to Control/Consistency.

The most direct impact to K's will be Contact and Timing. Contact helps govern the size of the PCI and good placement and Timing impacts...well swing timing - less Very Early/Very Late/Too Early/Too Late, which can lower contact chances.

I appreciate your comments. Thank you. And you are absolutely right you see everything in baseball in terms of scores, big innings, star pitchers struggling, bizarre plays, unbelievable comebacks, etc. I guess in terms of this game, it comes down to the individual user's "feel" to how the game is playing. I have a Yankee franchise as well as a Mets franchise. I have a very dumb view (sickness) that I need to start my franchise over every time I make some kind of adjustment. In my Mets franchise I scored 8 runs in the first inning thanks to 3 homers. I was pulling 97-mph fastballs all the time. Yes, this could happen IRL, but it didn't feel right to me. So I increased pitch speed and started over. Played the game again and lost 5-4 and it felt better. I want to be able to celebrate hitting a homer instead of thinking that maybe my settings are too easy. When I increased pitch speed to 6 and 8 and raised contact to 6 in the middle of the game, I scored 3 runs immediately, which got me feeling that raising contact to 6 made things too easy. I have played feel I have my hitting sliders perfect for me now.

Thanks for your comments in regard to human pitching sliders as well. In the games I played, I'm fine with the hits, walks and homers the Astros got off me, but they sure struck out a lot. I have always used and trusted Armour's sliders and don't deviate them usually. But the number of cpu strikeouts raised a bit of a red flag. But it's only been 2 games. Thanks again

Love these sliders every year and this year is no different. I was wondering if anyone here has any idea if sliders impact sac bunting at all? I have completely stopped bunting with my pitchers because 70% end in a double play.

                            Love these sliders.

One tip to those having hitting trouble, what I've done is changed the hit type from directional/timing, to zone, but I DO NOT move the zone PCI with the stick, I just leave it centered. I hit a 8 game horrible losing streak with some games only getting 4 hits and I got pretty tilted. Before messing with the sliders I did this and the change was dramatic.

It has made pitches that are meatballs actually have good contact more often than not, and if you're a patient hitter (I generally walk 3-4 times a game) I stand by something I read years ago that at each at bat you should at least get 1 or 2 really good pitches if you can wait for them.

As far as the stats driven aspect goes, it still does that as well to an extent, as better hitters (pvis stat) will be able to stay alive longer with their larger PCI, and also have better chances to make solid contact on border pitches because of it.

Then I remembered I did this a couple years ago and really liked it. I feel it punishes out of control/low confidence pitchers more as it should. Anyway, just my 2c. Again love these sliders

Been using the update set and it works well for me. Bumping human contact to 6 has helped me as well. I really hate how many shut outs I have seen in my franchise around the league though.
